Posted June 20, 200717 yr comment_136291 Well, in my quest for finding the ultimate in forgiving irons coupled with feel and performance I've rounded up the latest sets of irons for testing over the next few weeks. Four forgiving forged sets plus one ultra forgiving cast set. I wanted an Epon iron in here for their ultimate feel so I included the Type X along with it's undercut which probably makes it the most forgiving of the three Epon models. Yururi's Gekku iron is ultra soft and forgiving coupled with high end hand made "looks". Tourstage ViQ Forged 2007 is Golf Digest Japan's Iron of the year boasting ultimate forgiveness and premium Endo feel. Yamaha's Forged 460D undercut iron was a finalist against the ViQ Forged and coupled with it's good looks deserved a spot in my test. Finally the cast entry, G-Field's CCB-1 cavity back iron, as Chris puts it features good looks and XXIO easy type forgivness. I went 18 with these yesterday and they were fantastic. So over the next two weeks I'll snap pics and give feedback on all 5 sets of irons. Please forgive my sub-par preliminary carpet pics as it's too dark now to take them outside....

June 20, 200717 yr Author comment_136300 I will be interested in hearing your report!Any chance of snapping some top-line and sole pictures? I always do, not to worry, it's just night now so pics all together will have to wait until tomorrow... though I did take the Yamaha, ViQ's and CB-1's individually few days ago.... I will post those first...
June 20, 200717 yr comment_136302 among those irons, the yuri looks like by far the best by a wide margin..... even I, a blade guy, had a momentary urge to get them... gocchin what do you think given that you actually have all in your living room

Not a super super thin top line but one of the thinner ones. Here's a quick pic:

June 20, 200717 yr comment_136330 Yururis get my vote, very neat shape. I could stand over that topline for sure!
June 20, 200717 yr Author comment_136340 T, It's a sin to have such a beautiful club next to that nasty Titty. LOL! All the good balls (JDM) were in my bag so I just grabbed a ball out of the junk pile to quickly snap that pic... (^_-) I wanted to add the JPX E500 to this test too but I only have so much money!!!

June 20, 200717 yr comment_136355 Well guys if you only had to pick one set to go on special $$$ which would it be?JPX? Yururi? PRGR? u tell me. i am a blade player.... but i am so tempted to buy those yururis..... its a clear winner in my mind.
June 20, 200717 yr comment_136362 Well guys if you only had to pick one set to go on special $$$ which would it be?JPX? Yururi? PRGR? u tell me. What a timely thread for me! I'm really itching to pull the trigger on a set of more forgiving CBs than my wonderful MR-23 CBs. Of the sets listed, my heart goes also to the Yururi for the looks, but I suspect they are about the same size as my MR-23s, so I wouldn't be moving up substantially in forgiveness, or so I think. Tell me I'm wrong! So, if we include the JPX and PRGR, I'd have to lean toward the JPX, unless they are just too big compared to, say, the Tourstage. I'd really like to see the JPX compared to a club I know. The Tourstage set is tied with the PRGR for my second choice, and it would rival the JPX and possibly edge out the PRGR if that is a bit of a undercut channel... I can't quite tell from the pictures. Have any of you guys noticed the pic of the PRGR cut in half? I'll try to link the picture. It's here: PRGR cut in half There is a lot more going on in that club than meets the eye. It is VERY interesting!

June 20, 200717 yr comment_136367 Here is the latest iron shootout from Golf Digest Japan. Callaway X-Forged XXIO Forged Fourteen 770 Forged Tourstage X-Blade GR Mizuno JPX E500 Titleist 695CB According to the 2 reviewers, the Fourteen 770 Forged seemed best.
June 20, 200717 yr comment_136369 For me, it would be the Yururi with the Tourstage as a close second.
June 20, 200717 yr comment_136370 MR-23 is much smaller than the Yururi Sir. Really? Oh my. If anyone can post a picture of the Yururi with the MR-23 CB U.S. Spec... I'd be forever indebted.
June 20, 200717 yr comment_136373 Really? Oh my. If anyone can post a picture of the Yururi with the MR-23 CB U.S. Spec... I'd be forever indebted. In a couple days I will post Yururi vs JPX, PRGR and perhaps another. I dont have MR-23's anymore so I hope that will do.
June 21, 200717 yr comment_136398 In a couple days I will post Yururi vs JPX, PRGR and perhaps another. I dont have MR-23's anymore so I hope that will do. That would be fantastic! If possible, include some standard US club that we can use as a reference. Anything like the Callaway X-forged, X-20 tour, Taylormade R7-TP, Titleist 690, 695, Mizuno MP-60, etc. Can't wait to see!
June 21, 200717 yr Author comment_136401 Tried hitting the Yururi all over the face today and it was still very good feeling all around. It's the most pure of the bunch when hit flush for sure with no undercut. Off center hits towards the toe or heel still felt good, I was surprised because I thought those would be punishing. Compact wonderful setup. People who saw it today marveled at the design and looks. Even the face is almost satin like... ball impact didn't show up as much as I thought it would... should have used impact tape....
