jacksonlui
wow! love the milling on the face. I like the material or design of the current Rac TP MB where the face looks kind of satin like. Why doesn't anyone have those? The darker faces are harder to keep clean. This iron looks "robotic", if that's any way to describe an iron. Any info on the new technology behind this one and some comparisons between this and the JPX E500 Forged and ViQ Forged in terms of forgiveness and feel and top line? Who forges these? soooo many questions...
BillS100
Chris, Awesome pics. The aesthetics on Srixon clubs really is really appealing. Thanks Bill
gocchin
Srixon has always had some very slick unique designs. As far as I know, Srixon still does their own forgings but I'm sure Chris could confirm. Jack, it's not released yet so there's not going to be much feedback on these for at least a couple of weeks. (they come out in mid September retail but magazines should be reviewing them now). Their ZR line of clubs is usually aimed towards mid to low handicappers as "athlete" models but I really like the heel and toe relief on this one... ClubHoUno
Looks good - is it forged and finished in Japan and is it 6 X struck forgings as they used to do with the Srixon Forgings I wonder if the cavity will be visible at address positions in the longer irons I think Srixon keeps on making better and better looking irons - I've only owned two set of Srixons, one cast set, probably made in Siberia, called AD I-403, but still a pretty good iron set for me back in 2004 (I used it for range practice on hard mats) and also a great forged set called I-302. I really liked the I-302 set, sold it and bought a set of forged Hogan Edge Pro's (also a great forged set BTW) back in 2005.
gocchin
I was guessing that it was the same forging technique too Claus... here's an angle from up top:
Duffer19
Is it just me or my computer, but how come I have this as TSG's avatar?
ClubHoUno
Is it just me or my computer, but how come I have this as TSG's avatar? He had the new Epon 301 before this, but Endo didn't allow it - so both Gocchin (who had the new Epon 701) and Chris have changed their avatars
Lowpro
a little more flash to these irons.. or curb appeal.. excellent pictures and look forward to trying these out.. amoung the many others out there.. too many choices..
ClubHoUno
I was guessing that it was the same forging technique too Claus... here's an angle from up top: Pretty great looking topline, Gocchin - Srixon irons keep on getting better and closer and closer to me buying a set of them They just need to find tune the cavity 5% in design and a slightly thinner topline and I'm ON
TBone
Has anyone had the opportunity to play or demo the ZR-700's? Looks like a lot of technology packed into a forged iron with minimal offset. Would like to hear some feedback on feel, playability, forgiveness....any comparisons to the "ususal" suspects would be greatly appreciated! gth1017
Am I wrong, but doesn't this look a lot like the US version, the 701 Tour? I can't see much functional difference, if any, just badging. If they're the same basic club, my review of the 701 Tour is most favorable. Plenty forgiving, extremely solid feel, easily workable. One of the better forgings I've played. It's one of my two play sets, the other being Miura 202's, and I find them interchangeable as to satisfaction. Thanks for the reply.....Is there much difference between the 701 tour and the ZR-700? If not, I could save a lot of "coin" going with the 701 tour. I have to believe this is remarkably different. How is the offset between your 202's and 701's?

[/quote 701's have slightly (and I do mean slightly) more offset at least to my eye. The top line is thicker than the 202's (more like the 201's from Miura). I can't tell much difference between the ZR-700 and the 701 Tours at least from the pictures. If you have the 701's take a look for yourself. Can't go wrong with either set and the J-Spec certainly have the rarity thing going for them. Perhaps there's a difference as there always was between say the J-Spec 505's and the US Speck 506's, 404's, etc. but I sure don't know what it is. ]
