gocchin
Taylormade Japan, based on it's very popular R7 Forged iron of 2007 us releasing it's R7 TP Forged iron at the end of November. This Tour Preferred iron is forged from soft S25C and is a compact, minimal offset head made for lower handicap players. The R7 TP Forged features a low to mid launch trajectory for maximum workability and a thin topline with very little offset for superb setup at address. The head shape was designed based on feedback from Japan tour professionals, looking for a thin sole and muscle back like control. The R7 TP Forged is available as 5-PW standard and with either NSP Pro 950 GH R or S steel or Dynamic Gold S200 or X100 steel. 3 and 4 irons are also available. HULC1105
I own a set of the r7 Forged, and on TM's website, it states the r7 Forged has a medium offset. But comparing the pictures of AF301, and a set of USDM r7 TP (which TM says has minimal offset), I find my r7 Forged doesn't have that much of offset at all... Just wondering if the TM website is wrong or I just simply can't tell the difference between medium offset and minimal. The pictures Gocchin posted obviously are from TM, and when you look at the address picture, the offset is NOT minimal... that's an address picture of an r7 Draw~ That offset is FULL-ON off. Can someone give me a hand and post some comparison pictures of the r7 Forged and new r7 TP Forged? Thanks Lung-chia

Thanks Lung-chia Lung-chia, I'd have to agree with you that TM is probably being a little conservative in their descriptions, I would call the R7 forged as having minimal or less offset, definitely not medium. No live R7 TP Forged pics yet but the R7 pics we have definitely don't look like medium offset:
federerfan23
are the shafts black?????? they appear to be that way in the pic and laso how do these differ from the original R7 forged?
gocchin
Shafts just look like that for the pics. According to TM, thinner topline, less offset, more workability (less forgiving) and CG a bit higher for lower trajectory, compard to the R7 Forged. Based on Japanese tour pros who gave input based on the R7 Forged asking for ball manipulation and playability as the number one priority for the new TP. jacksonlui
the original ones look better, the new ones look cheesy, kind of a mutation from several previous models.
BillS100
I agree that the new TM TP forged is unattractive. It reminds me of the "05 TP cavity back which I never liked on any grounds, apprearance, feel-feedback, harshness, and fairly unforgiving. I hope TM has taken the design of the r7 forged and improved the playability of the iron but for a players CB, the r7 forged is hard to beat. Lance99
I kinda like the different paintfill, but agree they look like the older USDM TP CB's. If they are anything like the MB TP's but with more forgiveness than I think they (TM Japan) have a winner on their hands. I have only played the USDM MB TP's, but really liked them. Wanted a little more forgiveness, so now I play the Cally X-forgeds.
offtheback
I must be seeing things- but it looks like one big decal in the cavity to me!?? I have played the r7 forged- amazing, but a bit too soft for my tastes....but a decal...come now TM!
Ginrin
According to the TM specs the offset is the same as the r7 forged
gocchin
According to the TM specs the offset is the same as the r7 forged Good observations P, the face progression is listed as the same on both. So Lung-chia was pretty much right that TM's site is not so consistent in spec descriptions sometimes. It's not uncommon to have them make minor mistakes in new product listings, also perhaps the TP's "Tour" size head as opposed to the R7 Forged's "Mid-Size" (as TM calls it) may give the illusion that there is less offset. By the way it's about time you posted! (^_^)
thadeuce
It's funny that you guys think they have minimal offset cause that was the one thing I don't like about mine...the offset. I was all ready to get some Miura 202's then I saw this new offering from TM.
