+TourSpecGolfer
Here we have some images of the new 2010 version Tour Model Limited Iron by Yamaha, We were only able to source 3 sets this year and found it very difficult as it 100% sold out 2 weeks before release and official announcement. New 2010 Yamaha Tour Model Irons ( Already Sold Out ) Have a look at the 2008 vs 2009 vs 2010 models all are very similar in style and design but I have not yet been able to take the new 2010's out for a spin. 2010 on left - 2008 on right 2010 on top - 2008 on bottom 2010 on right - 2008 on left
bogeydog
Do you think the bounce of the sole has changed? By memory it appears the 2010 model may have slightly more than the 09s. I am patiently waiting for my 10s to show after the reshaft by Goodsie. my gut says that the 2010s will launch slightly higher and feel should be better due to the additional meat. Lets see how the forgiveness is improved. IMO the 08 was more forgiving that the 09 however the 09 was slighly more forgiving in on the toe. Maybe they found a way to meld the two and take the best characteristics of both. +TourSpecGolfer
Hey BogeyDog, I think you and brother Goodsie are on to something, yes based on the way it looks I think the 2010 has a bit more bounce or it is rounded off a bit better. Yup and I agree with your comment about the meat behind the CG area which should make it not only feel better but also launch higher like you said. I couldnt tell much of a difference between the 08 vs 09 to change sets, I am actually playing the 08's I purchased back from you a while ago. My brain says the 09 is more forgiving in the toe based on how it looks and was re designed, maybe I am not good enough to tell the difference in this case. gocchin
Actually they are "supposed" to launch lower due to more meat higher on the back cavity, that in fact brings the CG a touch higher up rather than lower like the previous two models. Also for the grind it was changed ever so slightly with a more rounded sole on the 2010 but with slightly less heel relief to compensate. gus
I think the 2010's are the cooliest looking set of irons on the planet, man are they sweet! BB
Blader-X
I've always thought the Yamaha Tour Models to be one of the best looking and the new '10's do not disappoint. Its just too bad they're already sold out.
jacksonlui
what makes the Yamaha's better than let's say the Epon 302 or the Zestaim Fi-2 ToeHeel?
gus
I don't think anyone said anything about being better or worse than another set. Just a super sexy and very rare set of high quality irons....BB
+TourSpecGolfer
To compare the two, they are both amazing choices. I think the AF302 is more forgiving and a hair better in feel but I just cant resist the setup and profile of the Yamaha's.
jacksonlui
what if Epon offered a 302 edition that has the same setup as the Yamaha and a killed leading edge for soft socal turf? wouldn't that be perfect?
livetoplay
Have to agree with BB just pure. This is a set I would play in a heartbeat.

That would be cool but I would still take the Yamaha's. I think the 302's do the job they are intended and so do the Yamaha's. Same material S20C same factory and the Yamaha's are more rare and cost less.

gus
I'm extremely excited to say yes; nothing has happened to the Burner TP's, I've been working with them and my Cally X-Proto's all winter. The Burners look very trick with black chrome KBS and the stock MC grips (TM logo faces down on grips from factory, well done TM!). My Callys have the origional Satin PX 5.5's and are built to the hilt! Now comes the king of irons, I'm so PUMPED UP! What I have on my hands is pure competition and they will all probably win! I did sell my Scotty Cameron Circle T and two other sets of irons; flipped momma some cash and still had enough to purchase these, not the cheapest hobby in the world thats for sure...BB Edited February 15, 2010 by BigBen

gus
Honestly I don't know, I'm guessing the Yamaha's will have that nice crisp Endo snap which is very similar in feel to both other sets suprisingly. I'm hopng the profile of the Yamaha's is right between the Callys (MB's) an the Burner TP's (modern players CB). This way I kind of have the best of all worlds. I have multiple shaft options but I want to bendmark them first with stock shafts so I can make a more educated guess. I have three sets available; very cool looking Matrix 117gr tour prototype CJ Choi orange crush graphite X-flex (incredible steel shaft replacement, very tight tolerances and perfect frequency slopes), Nippon 1150gh Tours X-flex and last a set of Project X satin 5.5's. All shafts are brand and sitting in my basement waiting for a shot! I've had success in one capacity or another with each one of these options so really I can't see me going wrong (knock on wood!). My sentimental favorite is the Yamaha's simply because I've lusted after a set for so long but I need to let the perfomance of the irons determine the winner...BB Edited February 15, 2010 by BigBen

The Ozik shafts would be pretty cool. Are they .355? I have always contemplated high end graphite but haven't wanted to bore the hosel. The feel is Endo crisp. I think the setup will surprise you! (good) I may try and get to a cold range tomorrow. I have a few things to try out.

ant
yeah you can get them in 355 or 370, in fact i just ordered 355 set from Tario. cant comment on them as i havent got them yet but all the reviews and feedback i've seen on them was absolutely terrific. they are not tour prototypes BigBen is talking about but i think he was going to post a review/report on WRX about Matrix Program 130 when he builds a set with them so i'm watching that topic over there. The Ozik shafts would be pretty cool. Are they .355? I have always contemplated high end graphite but haven't wanted to bore the hosel. The feel is Endo crisp. I think the setup will surprise you!
