Mjr. D
Title says it all. Looking for some suggestions for a sub 400CC driver. I'm thinking Yonex or this Tourstage P02-6. Need an 8-9* (max) loft. Lets hear some suggestions, takes, etc. Thanks.

Mjr. D
Really? How many CC's? Also, what about this guy - http://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.miuragiken.com/&ei=44FoTo46pcrQAdjG2MkL&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCoQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmiura%2Bgiken%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26prmd%3Divnsfd

daamartin
Didn't go to the write link - check out Miura's 325CC monster! I've just un-mothballed a new JP Mizuno 300s Tour Spirit and loving it. These small drivers seem to encourage a different swing and engage the senses a bit more. Playing it in a comp this Sunday to see if "what happens on the range stays on the range", or if it keeps me on the fairway more often. Vegaman
Its not JDM but the TM R510 TP is 390cc and still one of the best drivers Ive ever had..Its not shafted at the moment but i still have it. its 8.5 degrees, has a very pretty shape and sounds and feels really solid..Ive been thinking about shafting up again soon, I had it in an Axiv V Xstiff shaft that was a great combo. Until I broke the shaft.. Otherwise I uesd to have a Honma 400cc driver that had a SUPER deep face, I mean seriously deep, like the current TM SD I would say..That was a very lowspin head that I traded away many years ago. Was the name RF400 something? I still see these drivers now and then in Bangkok, been thinking about getting one just for the fun of it, since they are pretty cheap and a bit dated I guess. Plus not exactly geared towards the "typical" Honma user? EDIT: The name is Honma 400RF, just looked it up on the web..It has a 59.5mm SP700 Ti face..Found them still for sale on the web, at 980 dollars!? Does anybody else remember this driver? +TourSpecGolfer
I still have the R510TP even the JDM R360 Tour which is like the U.S Tour R300 Tour. All good drivers. I would go with the new PRGR, then TourStage, then Yonex 380 in that order. Thanks, Chris
Mjr. D
Hey Chris, is the Tourstage P02-6 still available? Also, what PRGR are you referring to? Is the Tourstage and PRGR lower spinning than the Yonex?
ant
hey what about that Tourstage Limited 365cc Tario has mentioned in the latest Srixon review, i assume its a typo and he actually meant 385, anybody here got to try one of them ? i was seriously considering it but then decided it would probably be too high risk low reward for me. Mjr. D
Ya I think that's the P02-6. I'd love to know about it, too.
JMCMB
Epon Technica that stew mentioned seems to be the prettiest of the bunch.... No idea where to find one though.... I'm liking the tour stage as well and would like to hear more about it... Prgr seems to make fantastic woods and is def worth a look. I was advised against getting the Yonex 380.... J. Mjr. D
So was I. What PRGR model is everyone referring to? I heard from Goodsie that the Miura Precious 390CC driver is very good, too.
JMCMB
What are you gaming now? If you don't mind me asking.... J.
Mjr. D
Crazy 435 with a crazy black 50 (outstanding setup). Also a Titleist 910 D3 with a Fire Express Proto (not a fan of this shaft surprisingly).
JMCMB
I know it's not under 400cc, but have you thought of the jBEAM 425 Tour? Received it yesterday, 9.5 loft, shafted with the Crazy Black TJ80, gamed it for the first time today, and this thing is seriously TOPS.... Def the magic stick I was looking for.... Carry is great, much better than I thought it was going to be, VERY strong mid flight/ mid launch, but it just ran..... And ran..... And ran..... The ball hit the ground and just kept going for days, I've never seen anything like it. Super accurate, normally if I crank up the MPH's, I can't play a fade for anything, but with this stick it wasn't a problem, every shot I wanted was in my bag no matter how hard I went at it..... I really could not be happier with this driver, and I'm very happy I went with the TJ80, it's a very active shaft and it just feels like a bottled lightning bolt through the ball.... Nice and sturdy though, vie never felt a shaft this active that gave me such a wonderful ball flight, idk what they're doing over at Crazy, but it's working..... For me this was a perfect match for the low launch jBEAM head.... This was my first Crazy shaft, and I can't see myself using any other graphite shafts from now on, I'll def give some others a shot, but whenever I buy a new club with a graphite shaft in it, it'll probably be a Crazy shaft... Already ordered two Utilities with the Crazy ute, and another driver with a Crazy shaft.... I originally wanted an under 400cc head, was settled on the Yonex at first, but T advised against it and emphatically suggested this monster.... I'm glad I listened... Couldn't be happier really.... Mjr. D
Nice to hear man! Ya the Crazy's definitely perform! The Crazy 435 is a JBeam head so we're basically using the same setup now. I agree, top notch! Wait until you try the Crazy Utility shaft.... also wonderful! I'm looking for the smaller sized hear as an experiment. I shoot lower scores with my Mizuno Mp37 blades than I do with larger clubs and I absolutely murder my relatively small headed Royal Collection fairway wood so I'm thinking I'll improve my driving with a smaller headed driver if everything follows suit. RIduffer
Agreed on the smaller headed driver. I much prefer sub 400 and have tried several, even brushing off the an old TM 300Ti. The two I am most fond of are the Miura 390cc and the Yonex 380. On the 380 though, the shaft is key. I ahve tried about 4 or five different shafts in it and have settled on the GD P9003x. Admittedly, I did not try any Crazy shafts but am very impressed by the GD/Yonex combo. Long mid launch low spin and I get a 5 yd fade or dead straight flight path with it. Mjr. D
Yonex hey..... i've heard it's only average but happy that you like it! The P9003X is one of the all-time greats, without question. How did the Miura compare? Ever hit the Tourstage P02-6?
RIduffer
Yonex hey..... i've heard it's only average but happy that you like it! The P9003X is one of the all-time greats, without question. How did the Miura compare? Ever hit the Tourstage P02-6? I have not hit the Tourstage. By the time I found out about it, it was already sold out... Once November hits, golf kinda leaves my mind because the weather around me isn't conducive to enjoyable rounds or range sessions. All that would happen if I focused on golf in the winter would be an increase in the seasonal affective disorder depression... I will be putting the P9003x into the Miura in the not too distant future and will be able to give a better comparison between the two. But at this point, the Yonex is definitely a longer club, the sound out of the Miura is more enjoyable to me and the feel of the two heads is just different. More to come once I reshaft the Miura...
