+TourSpecGolfer
I guess I'm behind the times on steel shafts so I have to refer to Mr. Stew & Spoon as well as the others on this board. I have a bunch of new irons coming in soon. Epon Personals, VG3's, Crazys etc.. I've been playing the basic NS shafts from 950, 1050, and 1150. I prefer the feel of the 950 but the weight of the 1150. The C-Tapers by KBS don't land well for me, they come in a little too hot. The KBS Tours, how are they? I like softer shafts with great feel. No telephone poles please.
gocchin
Actually you should also consider the Modus3, many say it plays soft but a lot of that has to do with its feel. More feel can be perceived by many as being soft. It has very good distance and is around 1150 weight and best of all it feels great. I don't know why I had a wandering eye phase before I settled on the modus 3. Would change shafts every week, in this order nspro 1050-px6.0 flighted - x100- nspro 1150- sp blue - tour concepts then a whole slew of proto nspros. In the end what killed my lust to try new shafts were the modus 3. Tad lighter than ns1150 but stiff tip, butt soft and smooth powerful kick! I can't give this shaft enough praises.love it. Tried the shimadas in another set and I prefer the modus. Less demanding. Hard to game anything else once you've tried and got used to the nspro feel. Everything else feels harsher. DaleUK
For what it's worth , I'd look at nothing else .... Modus3's in those new Epon's... Now there's a match made in heaven!!
Ian-500
Have to agree with the other guys, the Modus 3's are great. The best 'feeling' steel shaft, with very tight dispersion.

supo
mate its hard to pass up the modus 3 really .... u love the NS feel already , nothing else has that feel. and the modus just are a bit ...,gee more advanced(?) theya re close to the perfect shaft, they have great dispersion, they land soft, you can work them JUST a bit when u need to , and they feel terrific. errrrrr, maybe the crazy steel. they are bit more rigid tho i think , i only hit them a cpl of shots but ilove em! the monaccos i would recomend in a heart beat , they are low and tougher in the 8-9pw but get nice and fluffy as u go towards the 3i can work these about no probs. they are like a smoother feeling s300. if ur going to play in vegas manily id pro say the modus impossible to beat. if ur going to play links more in wind then id plumb for the monaccos
chiromikey
how do the monacos compare to the sp blues?
supo
monacco for a start are MEANT to be some kind of special tour release mumble jobby that darren clarke played in last yrs open triumph, but they seem to be popping up all over the place. aparently there were 1000 sets made , but it seems like thaey missedprinted , nad left off a cpl of 0s ...! i think i saw a set advertised on a wheat-a-bix box last week.....! they are low. def lower than modus. not as low as c-tapers. c-tapers feel like a railway sleeper in comparison. ive been playing c-tapers, but i dont get it....... spblues are (ithink this is right) hardenened steel by firing small ball bearings at he shaft to tighten up the integrity of the shaft. somehting like that anyway. what will they think of next...! anyway they play tight , hard nad very very strong. they DO NOT have as much feel as the other NS shafts but they are prob the best shafts tive played if uwant to hit straight, dead striagh and low. think LINKS golf... think SP blue...! Spoon
Love the modus 120.....they feel like a heavier 950gh with slightly more kick ! The 950 is the best feeling shaft bar none. Forget about flight I'm talking feel .

I am finding the same thing. Honestly, they feel really smooth for me and have really given me consistant flight and even a bit of increased distance compared to my TTDG X100, which is sort of strange. I too have a naturally high ball flight and spin. Really enjoy what they are doing for me and trying to figure out what I am going to shaft my wedges with (still thinking S400... but maybe S+ C-taper?) Interesting. I will have to try this out. My fear with C-Taper was losing the touch from 90 yards in, but this might be a great solution to keeping the spin and let me play a little bit more of a "feel" game while still keeping the same stable, consistent feeling with my entire iron set. shacco
Any feedback on Aerotech Steelfibres? I know they are not jdm but heard good things about them. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
robbie
ive played with the aerotech steel fibres many many years ago, im not sure if they have updated their technology or not.....they are basically some good shafts that are lightweight but the ones i had were not steel.....they were graphite in appearance and had steel fibers inside the graphite. They were pricey back then and after a few rounds i had them pulled and went with mfs1115. IMO there are better options out there, such as lightweight steel 950gh, modus3, pxi....or graphite
+TourSpecGolfer
Darn! ordered both the VG3's and Personals with KBS Tour. Personals arrived already but VG3's maybe I can switch.:( I noticed no one is mentioning the KBS Tours, no love? I hit them it was a bit numb but accurate and short irons landed nicely for me. potuna
KBS Tours are really good, smooth feel and land softly.
chiromikey
i thought the kbs tours felt good but are too high and have too much spin for my game.
Blader-X
I've been playing the KBS Tours and I'm killing the 5,6,7,8 in mine. Of late my 3 and 4 have been fine but not like the others. Could be age, could be shaft. I'm playing around with a few options for those at the moment. I've often thought about the C-Tapers but was told they weren't much of an improvement over the current Tours. I haven't hit them as of yet so I really can't comment. Of late everyone here as me thinking Modus until I read one report that they're higher than the KBS which had me out at that point. Also I think one posted said they had trouble hitting knockdowns with them and that's a shot I love to play with so no need even thinking any more for me on those. While I like the feel of the NS, I've always thought I lost too much distance to spin. At present, the KBS wedge shafts in my wedges are ideal for flight, and feel. The KBS Tours have been very good for me in feel and spin. My swing is really top notch at the moment and I had a very good four hour range sesshy the other day. Killing everything but the 3 and 4. I might just need to step down in flex for those irons and stick with what I've got in everything else.
chiromikey
i wouldn't call it an improvement but for me the c-tapers definitely flight the ball lower than the tours so there is a noticeable difference.
