Last year at the 2012 Japan Golf Fair we met up with a brand called Tabuchi that looked to have some potential. They were not ready for release and really had no projected sales date. About 2 weeks before the 2013 show we got an email from them asking us to come to their headquarters in Tokyo. A little bit of background and maybe Tario can chime in to fill any gaps.

Solid Contacts... Remember them? The brand that used to sponsor Ryo Ishikawa. Anyway SC was purchased by a large elevator and electronic door company called Fuso Dream and renamed Tabuchi after a popular grinder based in Himeji. Now with over 60 accounts in Japan they are ready to do business on an international stage.

It's an interesting brand concept everything is produced one off, custom made for the consumer. It looks pretty cool right? Well what were showing you is a head that has a ton of stamping options on it, thats right I said options as in you get to move things around, delete or add one of many logo's available.

But wait theres more... Do you think the below iron has too much or too little offset?

gallery_18_4_207641.jpg

Well you get to go either way by 1mm. 0 offset not a prob, goose neck by request... ok! btw here is that irons back face which I think would look good nearly blank with just 1 logo.

Irons & wedges take about 4-6 weeks depending on what options you choose. How about options such as a copper underlay, RAW milled faces on brushed satin plated heads, even leading edge & trailing edge relief or custom top line and toe grinds, Tabuchi-san has got you covered. The company is still relatively young but off to a great start. Hopefully they become the Gold's Factory of the Iron & Wedge world.

All models in this thread are the standard Japan releases, while in Japan we designed the Global versions which have a more minimal appearance when it comes to stamping as well as some slight shape adjustments and from there you guys will be able to add your own personal flare to it.

MT202 looks cool. Similar to George Spirits from the past but rounded back.

can you remove the ram/sheep logo?

really cool looking stuff! Copper underlay? Fantastic they offer that as an option, almost unheard of...

Very nice looking stuff. I think that the companies that provide the consumer with the option to "personalize" their clubs are going to be winners. This is the natural extension of the clubfitting process that all companies now would like you to think they alone pioneered.

This is really what ..never ending desire to try new cool stuff? First time I've heard these mods on wedges and irons, thought they are only available with putters. I feel like I want to hit those irons and wedges now!

Is that your putter in your Avatar?

can you remove the ram/sheep logo?

Yes you can remove everything if you want. Even the main Buchi logo can be shrunk and put into the cavity.

I love custom made stuff. But at what price per set !?

Whatever is behind the sheep in the logo, really poor placement...

Can they alter COG in the blades, adapt what S-Yard did in the Bolds?

Copper underlay is the sheep's teets...

Wha! U don't like the sheep? without that sheep or the rabbit golf wouldn't exist!

Nothing like the bold, that would be pretty rough to do on any iron for any maker, altering CG can be done to some extent.

Not exactly like that but yes I have ordered a custom Gold's Factory putter!

Btw, thanks to Tario for helping me out on this one.

Sheep doesn't bother me one iota. It is the placement of the little thing right behind it that I think is poor placement. Looks like a sheep dropping to my aging eyes.

On the CG, I really like the flight out of my RomaRo/Tour Attas combo and believe that to be a combination of shaft and higher CG of the head. Nothing else I have hit seems to get that kind of piercing trajectory, at least since the Miura BB/SP Blues.

I like the looks of these

I wonder if they can make one with a cow on it being as I'm a hobby farmer and all...

i like these irons ive hit them they go vwery nicely , these wer the ones iwas trying to get customed late last year but they cudnt ( wudnt) they are lovely guys in the shop too. the blades in particular..... i think will appeal to a lot of guys .

Haven't you heard that sheep turds are the "IN" thing now? I'm having a GF putter made covered with them. :atsg_smilie_poop:

Tabuchi-san told me the sheep are based on the origin of golf in Scotland. Shepherds would get tired of grazing their sheep so they used to hit round stones into rabbit holes and the game was born.

This is also why they call their woods Shepherd.

Fuso Dream is the golf brand, and Buchi is a line under Fuso Dream.

Fuso Denki is the parent company and as Chris mentioned an Electrical Company.

Gives new perspective on a chocolate brown finished club...

Don't like the look of them myself.

I really like the look of those utes!

Really, why a sheep??

If I were on the design team and a member of the team said "hey Swiss, I've got a great idea!...lets put a little lammie or a sheep on this new iron and let's have it look like the lammie is pooping, " I would fire them on the spot.

Tario explained earlier why they have the sheep. Not my cup of tea either but I guess it's paying homage to golf heritage.

I think the idea is that the golfer won't get as upset after a bad swing when you realize at least you don't have to worry about stepping in a fresh pile of sheep dung like golfers of olde. Talk about insult to injury!

I like the designs and think if the feel is good and you can do something about the sheep they're a good looking iron.

I hit a bunch of their clubs in Japan and was a pleasantly surprised. I was talking to them about some things I didn't like and was more excited to find that they can change it up with some custom touches. Excited about all the options they got to offer!

My brother worked at apple for quite a long time. Steve Jobs had been away on leave for a while. When he returned the design team make a presentation of some new layout designs, it had butterflies all around. He sat there calmly looking at the folder and said "oh, butterflies, how nice...who's idea was that?" One guy proudly took the credit...and all of a sudden jobs lost it and threw the stuff all over the place screaming "butterflies! Butterflies!..." Over and over again, insulting everybody in sight . Haha.

The things we are working on right now are pretty cool. Tabuchi-san himself will hand grind everything for our customers. We are now testing copper underlay and raw faces on plated heads.
