supo
changed balls this weekend, i play the tourstage x-01z. bit harder than the magnificent x-01s , gives me a bit less spin . very wet day so i opted for the dunlop preium brills. not played them in ages. in a word . these things go LONG! they were fantactic in the wet. the greens were slow and damp compared to usual , so the balls were literealy plugging on them. THE perfect strom for a distance ball. off the driver i gues they were up ......... 15+ yards longer. the irons at least a club i normally i hit my 8 iron 150 -153 yetserday i was hitting the 9 150 , the pw 130! i gained a full club NO probs what so ever. and they sat still on the greens like buddah in meditation in kamekura. they are peerless off the face of the putter. my idea gents.. if ur looking for added distance and spin around the greens aint that big a concern these balls just rock. get them!!!! EdGolf
A few months back a fellow golfer gave me a sleeve of Kasco Kira and I must say I like it a lot. The feel is similiar to a ProVx but the distance is long with good green side spin. Problem is not available near me and wish I'm in Japan like you Stew... mpbachman
We absolutely need a ball sub-category forum. This is an area that I am just embarking on and there is so much to choose from, learn and experiment with :) I have gamed about 3 boxes of new Epon F4 balls, going to put in some TS x01 into play this week and next the Mizuno JPX balls. Now reading on the Premium Brill/XXIO Premium and all the other balls to choose from, hmmmmmmmm.

Tim James
Excellent info shared - I too would like to add my voice to the call for a ball forum and or a featured ball review.
bully4
Stu and others, You guys/gals may like to try Vision ProSoft 808, or Bob as we call him!...... this is an excellent ball that is being produced by an Australian guy (yes an Aussie!). From my own personal experience, it is by far and above the best ball I have played. Easily one club longer with the irons, reduced side spin, very durable and oh so soft off the putter face. It is my ball of choice for fast greens due to its softness off the putter. If you have a look at this thread from Iseekgolf ( http://forums.iseekgolf.com/topic/19111-vision-golf-ball-test/ ), you will see rave reviews about this ball, along with some of his other products. You will notice that the thread started in 2007 and The Boz from Oz has continued his development of his range of balls. Apparently his gloves are fantastic as well. Tim James
Thanks for sharing link - glove's look very promising but only up to size XL ... I need XXL - XXXL for my paws. LOL ... Will give balls a try. In addition another subject or topic consideration - "GRIP'S"

mpbachman
Yep, the F4 is a 4 piece ball and the Epon F3 is the 3-piece. I found the Epon F4 to be one of the longest and straightest ball I have ever played and soft. Around the greens it doesn't match to other premium balls but is better than your cheaper distance ball. Overall, I find it good and only if it was a tad better (more spin) around the greens would it absolutely great. It is somewhat of a ProV1x has a baby with a DT Solo (for you Titleist folks). It says High Compression but I had no issues whatsoever. I gamed the Bridgestone B330-S today and now that is a great ball. A tad more spin off the driver than I would like (and lower launch) but a pleasure around the greens and putting.

However sadly not readily available in this part of the world.

Mob
What ball would you recommend for someone that has a driver swing speed around 104 mph and seems to play well with the Titleist ProV1x? Is there a better version of the Prov1x over there made by a different company?
mpbachman
I haven't tried them yet but I hear the TourStage x01z is awesome!
akapur
I currently have both the Epon F4 and Premium Brill balls. The Epon F4 is a great all around ball, nice distance and good spin control. The Premium Brill balls are excellent, uber long off the tee. Great spin and very easy to spot in the rough as they have a shiny coating on the outside. You can't go wrong with either ball. freehb04
I've been playing the epon f3, best ball ever around the greens. Not long but so soft and easy to control, reminds me of the old call away rule 35. The super newing premium brill is a lot longer, stu nailed it, it is a great ball, I got some more. Driver is 95 for me and don't have issues compressing the ball. Man that ball holds it's line, esp in the wind, couldn't agree more. Both are better than my previous ball (zstar) but pricey esp w the shipping. I think the the brill is better than the pro v1, longer at least. I would rate the f3 higher than the pro v1 around the greens. Brill was pretty good for me around the green but would rank it below the pv1 and f3. I would play the epon f3 if $ was no concern. Hard to get and expensive though...
