Craig
I was there a few years ago and had a great time. It was huge and absolutely mind blowing. Apparently this year it was not so big just wondering if you can post some pictures of the show. Just general stuff so others can see what it is like. For me it is more to see how much smaller it has gotten. Congratulations on seven getting the best new brand of the show. Can we see some photos of their stand there, as well as the Fujikura girls(for all us old perverts) and also of my personal favourite, the Seven dreamers stand. I know it is difficult in trying to write a blog with product details and also having to answer many mind numbing details that i see people ask. supo
I shudda taken a few snaps of the birds, the fujikura ones were the ebst his yea .blew the calwaay ones awy IMO , the photographers there are uber otaku's , their camers are quite jawdropping i felt a little under whelmed tho... .it was really a lot smaller this year than previous, a lot of big names didnt even go,, and a heap of smaller quanit little underground golf stalls wernt there either, it was a mellower experience this year i thouht , didnt manage to find anything really juicy, well except for my fave excentric putter grip maker DMP i think iti s.., , he was htere again... funny fella. works his buttoff. the seven dreames stand was immense , they went all out . that was a great stand, as was (is every year) the onoff. thats always my fave. it was quite low key this year i thought. . +TourSpecGolfer
Show was small but I got some juicy bits I haven't posted yet. Seven didn't have a booth, there is no return on that investment. This years show was smallest ever, last year was traumatizing with two massive snow days shutting down transportation and keeping the show goers at home. Many more posts and pics to come though. Icestorm959
Curious to hold a golf fair in winter. Surely the reception would be better in warmer seasons..
SHWhite
Good point....I too have always wondered about new club releases & golf fairs in winter given the weather is poor, days are shorter and golfers are unable to play as much
Henry
Just curious on why the Golf Fair was much smaller this year than in years past? Golf is so huge in Japan, you would think this would be a large event.
Shankopotamus
The PGA merchandise show and most local golf fairs in the US are held in January or February. From a promotional and marketing standpoint, the timing makes sense, as during these off-season months most golf fanatics are chomping at the bit for anything golf related. Albeit, there will always be unpredictable attendance due to external factors, such a weather.
nobmontana
Just curious on why the Golf Fair was much smaller this year than in years past? Golf is so huge in Japan, you would think this would be a large event. I think the golf industry in Japan as a whole is not set up to grow the sport. They are having difficulties in finding sponsorship even for professional JGTO events. To play golf is still a bit expensive in Japan. When the economy is bad, the luxury items are dropped first. Yes there are a lot of players there. But I think the majority get to play only a few round a year on the course. Hence their used equipment are actually hardly used.. +TourSpecGolfer
Yes playing golf in the states makes us super spoiled! In Japan while it's a great experience it's not something you would want to do frequently. Everything is so formal and it takes about 7 hours in total, it cost a lot of money figure on a good track 250-300 weekends. Just getting there and back turns golf into a 10-12 hour event including transport time.
Henry
I think Tario said in a post a few years ago that typically, lunch is included in the round and then after you finish golf, you are entitled to a bath at the course? Sounds like fun to me!

Sounds like fun to me! Lunch is after 9 holes which is pretty wild to foreigners its a big lunch and a 1 hour break at the turn, so you get a front 9 tee time and a back 9 tee time. And the bath, I've played here a lot and have never seen a group of foreigners hanging out naked together in the onsen. Anyway back to the show, bigger than last year that's for sure. None of the boutique brands show up due to cost.

Go ahead stew post away :) I'm a little backed up at the moment but got some fresh goodies coming today for you guys. Anything else at the show worth sharing? I didn't care or really see anything at the show that was special, A-Grind imo was great, 7D was there, New RomaRo gear, Titleist JDM, but other than that not much that had substance too it. We got a lot of great content coming but it's from our meetings after the show not at the show.
