bk24bk
anyone? Wondering what you have had luck with. sldr is 260cc. Ryoma F2 is 220cc. I'd like some forgiveness, hence size, and I don't plan to ever hit it off the deck, just the tee. Curious what you gents have used. Thanks

Thanks But hitting the driver is one of the best parts of the game!? nah but if ball striking is good a bigger or semi deep fariway is great off the tee. I think the F2 fits that bill with a nice high launching FW shaft. Baldo Brassy with a light short higher launching shaft? Maruman Shuttle has a low lofter. Spoon
I use an F2 with d wb 83 and love it. certainly is a driver replacement on the shorter holes. if you are truly looking for a driver replacement then go lowest loft possible as you wont be hitting it from the fairway anyways. baldy brassy might be the one or a higher lofted driver 12.5-13* built with a 44" heavier shaft. supo
prgr egg 15* is extremely good. deadly straight. great distance mid low launching. terrific club, been going to this a lot. hadly miss with it at the moment. its got a bigger higher fatter face so it frames the ball superbly on a tee. aim-shoot...! I know the shorty driver works wonders. I have a syard t.388 at 44.25" with stinger and this thing finds fairways nicely. could go even shorter at 44" for more control. But the head is really light, did you leadtape yours? I'm even thinking about using a steel shaft, something heavy and soft. Like a DG R400, if those can be found. I'm considering tipping the stinger another 0.25" for more control and firm the flex a bit.

gtrader88
I have been using the Ryoma F2 with Diamana B. It works well - easy straight and reasonable distance.
Ian-500
Use an untipped driver shaft butt cut to required length. My jBEAM RX FW with Diamana X70s is very nearly as far distance wise as my driver(sometimes level with it).
Hutch
FW shafts work a treat in drivers atshorter lengths Say you go a reg flex you can get a heavy shaft that increases SW and it doesn't feel like a cricket bat. Done this a few times with good results.

Done this a few times with good results. This is what I was thinking, use a heavy but softish steel shaft. To get the SW right and great launch while still stable because of the heavy shaft

Steel has always been something I wanted to try but haven't yet, may give that a go at some point...would be very accurate if you can get the balance right. gus
I have no problems with driver consistency but I still choose my 4 wood and hybrid off the tee quite a bit. Unless you can't generate much distance most low handicap golfers I know will use the correct club for the hole and not simply reach for the driver. It's amazing how many more fairways you will find, sometimes we forget it's a game! BB
mpbachman
I agree with BB. Play within your means and manage the course, don't get too fancy and you will find the shorter grass more. Most par 5s are 3 7 irons to reach ;). (Not that I do that...)
Hutch
Funny you should say that M, I agree with the simple way of playing the game. I played a game last year at my local track called friendly Fridays, Quirky rules for 9 holes and something a bit different. You Could only choose 3 clubs, I chose 7 iron, wedge and putter...I couldn't believe how simple the game was and went round 8 over for 9 holes...on a good day I am only scoring 5-6 over for 9 holes with a full bag of tools. It definitely opened my eyes on simplifying the game. Probably the wrong thread to suggest FWs in drivers but just putting it out there, with a high lofted driver head @ a 44 length it is a superb fairway finder off the tee if you like to carry a second driver, much easier off the tee than the FW on narrower par 4s. Only problem is its no good of the deck. that's why I went back to 3W but did enjoy the experiment. ;) Edited June 6, 2015 by hutchy
