nobmontana
you've probably seen my Copper MP62s in previous posts. Well, I had them shafted with TT Monacos earlier this summer but ever since I got my Buchis shafted with OT shafts, I really wanted to get nice graphites for my Mizunos as well. I was initially thinking about the CBI-80 but they were actually sold out with the Stiff flexes... so I did some research and read up on the Crazy STP Protos in 100g. So here they are.... back from Japan. May be hard to tell from the pics but these graphite shafts are stepped!! How cool is that! Stability of Steel combined with Performance benefits and vibration dampening properties of Graphite! The wedges have black Ion NS 1050GH that I got a long time ago. Big thanks to Chris for arranging the custom assembly of these irons!!! They assembled these perfectly! Planning to take her out for a spin over the weekend. Will report back on how the shaft performs!
idrive
Very nice. If they play half as good as they look the Buchi's will be in the BST! Anxious to hear your review of the shafts.

Anxious to hear your review of the shafts. The Buchi's have their place as my main gamer at the moment. Worst case, I might alternate between the two sets. Yes, I will post reviews of the shafts hopefully after this weekend.

nobmontana
Nice! are those leather grips? How do they hold up? my previous exprience with gripmasters are that they are very long lasting.
nobmontana
Just came back from a round. ended early due to cold rain... First, to my surprise, the grip master grips need some type of tack aid. they are a bit slick for my taste. Not a huge issue but I have very dry hands so it exaggerates. Feel: Compared to the OTi shafts, these STP shafts are a bit more stout feeling, not bad. I can swing hard with these with good straight shots whereas the OTI will start to spray if I swing too hard perhaps just a flex thing. Trajectory: Think polar opposites !! :) OTi goes very high compared STP. STP might be the lowest trajectory shafts I had in irons. I once had DG Tour Issue S400 in Yonex irons and these STPs are even lower launching. Cuts thru the wind very nicely! Distance wise, I think they are good! The temperature today here in Bozeman was in the low 50s so the ball was not really going anywhere I'll have to do a side by side comparo using my Yupitel and see what kind of distances I get. MP62 has a 47deg PW VS200 has a 45deg PW but due to the lower launch on the MP62, perhaps they might be getting similar distances. Just a guess. Overall the STPs are very playable and highly stable feeling shaft with very low launch. I just regret that I have not used graphite shafted irons sooner.. BladeHunter
really killer looking set of sticks! is that a patina copper plate or ?
nobmontana
I got it copper plated with help from a fellow TSG member .. then used liver of sulfur to darken it in a patina.
+TourSpecGolfer
STP's are great! Playing the 85g in stiff model, you went 100SX right?
nobmontana
100g yes . not sure about the flex ... just wanted that weight. Is it actually SX? Feels about that.
+TourSpecGolfer
100g yes . not sure about the flex ... just wanted that weight. Is it actually SX? Feels about that. Yes 100 is only made in SX. 85 is only made in S. I would have liked 100g in Stiff if they had it but am happy I went 85. It's way more accurate than my OT95 and even my MCI100. btw its a stepped carbon design that Crazy purchased the patent for.
nobmontana
Who holds the patent? If I may ask.
Ian-500
Hey nob, are the stp similar in launch and feel to Steelfiber, say i95 or i110 in stiff?
nobmontana
Ian, I have never had the chance to try steelfibers, unfortunately. These are only my second set of irons with graphite shafts. The other sets have the OTI shafts. Another round today and these shafts are really growing on me. I would not call these distance shafts, very much control shafts with very tight dispersion.
Vegaman
Is the STPs available in a heavier version than the 100s?
nobmontana
115g which I guess is considered X Stiff
Vegaman
Yes, just found it too. It's called 115 but the weight is actually 119..Pretty pricey shafts, the protos
