  1. Those look fantastic, some pretty heavy duty ho'ing going on
  2. I doubt the angularity does much to grab turf much more than any other club with a similar finish. For example, the Yururi raws everyone (including myself) loves. The Yururis dig pretty easily, with the super sharp leading edge and angular grind, but its not something you cant get used to. I'd be willing to give the Itoboris a shot if they didn't want a super premium $ for the visual appeal. They look great!
  3. Also liking your choice in equipment here. Definitely stands out
  4. Took these to the range today. The shafts I chose may not appeal to some, but Aldila's lineup is the one I am familiar with. The 1W was shafted with an Aldila Phenom 70TX, and the 3-1/2W with a Phenom 80R, both without additional weights in the hosel. I wanted to see if the 80R would play significantly softer than the lighter 70 gram shaft, and it does. Some tweaking needs to be done (and the ferrules turned down), but I am going to game these for a while. I left the lengths a bit long in case they needed to be tipped, and gripped down a bit to compensate. The range has a net in the back, and there was a tournament on the course, so I cant comment on total distance yet. The 3-1/2W is a bit loosey ballooney, but I like the height I was getting from the 16 degree loft. And the soft landing from some ballooning is not necessarily a bad thing from a fairway wood. I am going to tip it an inch and see how that goes. The feel is solid, and doesnt sound like other titanium 3 woods. Makes a thwock instead of a tinky sound. If it didn't say "titanium" on the sole, I might have guessed an alternative composition. Again, it is hard to comment on the shot shape, since it was left, right and ballooney at times. A stiffer shaft and more play on the course is needed for a good assessment, I think. The 1W I liked right away. Again, the extra loft was great, especially with the relatively low-spin shaft. It played small to moderate draws consistently, which is strange since I generally play fades exclusively, The trend may not continue from day to day, as the swing changes with the conditions, but draws are certainly not a bad thing. Nice and high, though. The sound and feel I did not dislike. Not quite as smooth as the Taylormade R510/Aldila NV 75 combo I have been using, but the head is more compact so perhaps some percussion is to be expected. Not a bad feeling at all. I tried the T.388 with the same Phenom 70TX the day before, which as some know is a clanky-sounding head, and it was not to my liking. The T.302 was not clanky, but low pitched and titanium tinky. A unique sound, at least to someone who has not played woods older than about 2000-era. I imagine the small displacement of ~300cc has something to do with it. Off-center hits were shorter than other drivers, again likely due to the small face and low displacement. That's exactly what I am looking for. Unfortunately, the butt needs to be trimmed. 46.5" is a bit long, so there goes a pristine Perfect Pro cord... I will follow up after a few rounds.
  5. There are a number of these on the used market, but very little information or opinion that I can find about them. For all I know, they are ladies clubs. Found them on Ebay for $50-70 each. Since I have a soft spot for older, difficult to hit clubs, they will be shafted tonight and given a provisional spot in the bag. Especially since they are higher-than-normal lofts, I am looking forward to seeing how they perform. Please feel free to comment if you have played them or know anything about them.
  6. Not without a definite exotic-looking appeal, but the old A80 Supra was a better-looking sports car.
  7. Thanks, Steve. No, it's the standard version. The TP is 390cc I believe, and with less face crown. If I could find one in good shape in 10.5 that would be nice, most seem to be 9.5 or lower. Hopefully the T388 feels even nicer, might be a couple days before I can shaft it Yes, the sound and feel are what I like about it. I bought a KM-350 around the same time I picked this up, and tried a bunch of popular steel blades like newer Pings, Rossa, Cameron, Odyssey, etc. They just weren't as satisfying. If I could find a brassy JDM with nice styling, that might have a chance but there don't seem to be many around. Always open to suggestion
  8. ^^ Yes, but the KZG is classy. The Epon is...vague
  9. Midsummer bag of mostly dated USDM with late-model made in Japan and JDM. Not particularly impressive, gamed often though. TM R510 10.5* with Aldila NV 75 untipped, a bit small at 330cc but sound and feel is very satisfying TM R580 15* with Aldila NV 75 tipped 1.25", low, straight, and similar feel as the driver Wilson Staff FG-17 Tour Blade 2-PW with NSPro Modus Tour 130, refinished in black PVD by previous owner. Developing wear spots high and towards the toe Kenmochi KW-103 54 & 60 with NSPro proto ST, best wedges I've had 70-80's Ping Anser with the Phoenix ZIP, updated with an Iomic Sticky Grips mostly Lamkin Tour Black full cord. Good grips but get greasy very easily. PerfectPro's would be better Obligatory messy office pics
  10. Fresh AND tasteful. If I go back to steel putters, this is top of the list
  11. Those Pro Preference Models...if I didnt have 5-6 years worth of blades to play already, my goodness. Love the Pro-100-like shape
  12. Haha, such are the ways of science. PM sent
  13. Would you consider selling the 388 head by itslef? I don't have much need for a 50g, unfortunately.
  14. I am likely in the minority regarding brand association, but the motorsports connotation is one I rather enjoy. Same with Srixon, and to a lesser extent Yamaha. **To be fair, I was born and live in the US, and am a younger age group. I recognize that Tourstage is revered by many with taste that is likely more discriminating than my own. But the Bridgestone name and brand seems appropriate for a global strategy, at least partially for the above reason. Their appeal is sporty, much like Puma and Adidas.
  15. FWIW, I've found that tipping a shaft actually makes it play more to the left, which, as noted above, is not consistent with prevailing opinion from a few other sources. I'd recommend giving it a shot, just to see how it works, unless you really must recoup the cost. Real, practical knowledge of shafts is one of those things that I think many people should make a real effort to experiment with and understand without skipping around with different manufacturers and even product lines, if it can be helped. The nearest thing that I can figure, if you're interested, is that the stiffer shaft kicks through faster and closes the face, similar to how a stiffer shaft will have higher CPM. Conversely, a softer shaft lags a bit, which opens the face. **A caveat with this, though, If you are getting a real short snap hook intead of a higher, long hook. I had a bad snap hook last year using a much softer and lighter shaft than I now use. This year, its mostly gone. I think it had more to do with insufficient hip rotation than anything else, and simply getting more practice in. If it's a pronounced standard hook you are seeing, then reference what I've said first. Snap hooks can be a different animal altogether.
  16. Not quite as bad looking as many of the popular USDM GI sets, even a little racy, as S-Yard will do. But yes good gracious that top line looks like a stick balloon
  17. not sure if they make a bag, but...Kenmochi
  18. I'm not a particularly good golfer compared to some on here, but since you haven't divulged your own handicap you may find the opinion useful. I've found that I like my wedges to play as an extension of the iron set, so a similar weight and flex is nice for consistency. My PW is 49 degrees, and I play a 54 degree like an 11 iron. The lob wedge has to be a bit more versatile than a 12 iron, but is shafted like the rest for consistency's sake on full shots. I do this to eliminate variables because my technique is nowhere near where I'd like it to be. I try to play the 60 for everything inside ~75 yards except steeply uphill lies and high wind. So, for wedge shafts, I simply choose a similar weight and flex as the irons. Irons are currently NSPro Modus Tour 130, and wedges are NSPro ST prototypes of the same flex.
  19. Spoon - Which shaft do you have, and in what flex? My current 3i has the Proto ORA in S, and seems to be well-suited, at least in cooler weather 4-12* C. A bit of a dream to hit. It would be best to keep things similar to what I am playing now, so I guessthe ORA would be best. Could be there are just not any SPO available on Ebay for the last couple weeks, I haven't had much luck. Nobody wants to sell a 3i by itself. Supo - The 2G18, that is similar to the Modus Tour 130, correct? I can find a Tour 130 locally OK, but the Protos...not so much. The shaft codes are a bit confusing, sorry if it seems I am not totally sure on which is which.
  20. Minimum 37.5" uninstalled length. I have an extra 3 iron head to be delofted into a 2 iron, looking for something similar to match the shafts in the other irons. As the topic states, NS Super Peening Orange, Proto ORA, or C10S. Please PM with offers. I am located in midwestern USA. Thanks
  21. FWIW the Callaway Hickory Stick putter shafts are a bored out hickory sheath, with a tubular steel insert. This is how they maintain their straightness, as opposed to full hickory shafts which may warp. This makes the shafts somewhat on the heavy side. A modern putter head with a hickory shaft is an interesting idea, but may require a creative solution. The head attaches to the hosel with a wrap or something similar, I believe. You might be able to fill the hosel with a wood insert or even epoxy, then use a traditional wrap. I was drawn to one because I thought it might give a softer or more muted feel, and maybe play a bit more forgiving and shorter since I was struggling with touch. I still game it 100%, since I don't like to change clubs often. Here is a pic, cut down to ~32" and regripped with Bestgrips classic leather.
  22. Beautiful set...I'm sure many can attest to Mr Supo's good dealings on the board, and I will endorse him also. I've only been able to hit the Pro-100s I purchased last fall from Stew at the indoor ranges due to the winter. But they've gotten a few compliments! GLWS
