Full Milled Wedge from Bridgestone

Bridgestone Golf apparently just released a new wedgeset in collaboration with "Mugen" ( i.e. Mugen Honda Racing )

It's a full milled wedge from ingot piece of metal ( not sure what type of metal it is ) .

Their argument is that current golf equipment are not manufactured to the tight tolerances utilized in other industries ( automobile , etc ) So in collaboration with an expert in producing high performance racing engines and parts, they decided to take golf club manufacturing to the next level.

Industry critics are saying that companies in the golf club vertical will soon start competing against each other in producing equipment with high precision and very very tight tolerances.

I personally thought JDM clubs had tight tolerances already.. but apparently not compared to other industries. Though I do wonder how much difference a wedge set with +/-1g tolerance will fair against one with +/- 0.1g. Would even the professional players notice the difference in performance?

Modart makes many of their clubs fully CNC like this.

The tolerance this tight doesn't matter in Golf but it sure is cool.

It doesn't appear to be 100% CNC milled, the sole is ground perhaps by hand or if mass produced.

Bridgestone doesn't need Mugen to do this.

What I would like to see is the results on spin these Mugen grooves produce. Right now in the "conforming" world Callaway has imo the best grooves which I believe are done by a factory I know in Taiwan.

It's all because of that "s**tamachi Rocket" TV drama. ( Good TV show , BTW )

"Precision Manufacturing" being used as a means to show Japan made product superiority over foreign competition.

I believe Bridgestone Tires worked closely with Mugen Racing and therefore this collaboration was just leveraging exsisting relationships.
