Hello,

Anyone have any recommendation regarding cooking knives? Doesnt have to be Japanese just something with great quality at a reasonable cost ?

Yep I second the Shun knives. Easy to find, good edge and reasonable price. All you really need is an 8"or 10" and do get a ceramic steel or sharpener.

I have the Ginsu Forged 12-Piece Japanese Knife Set. It's affordable yet the quality is amazing. I've had it for 2 years and it has retained its sharpness over the years.

Ginsu knives are made in Arkansas though according to Wiki. But hey - if they are great they are great.

If your in the market for legit.  Then.

RyuSen starts with ultra-modern, limited production, SG2 PM stainless steel and forges this between two layers of SUS410L stainless steel. The resulting edge is tempered to Rc 61 - 63 (very hard!) for exceptional edge holding, but is easy to sharpen.
