June 7Jun 7 Always wanted to do a MB thread here as i play so many of them and i wont have to read over and over... " miura baby blades( what ever thefk they are ) are the best!!!!Mbs to me are: much harder to hit well consistantly ...,WAY more punishing on non centered miss hits..,way easier to hosel rocket and shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahnkooooooooo! into the woods..., Much more mentally intimidationg to look down at past the 6 irons ..,AND............ they blow the bloody doors off EVERY other style of iron when u sweet one .i become a engineer, painter , sculpter, swordsmith for that fleeting moment when i hit one perfeclty to my pre shot minds eye view.obv. with other sticks thats perfectly do-abale but not near the same extent as with an MB.they def require more concentration diligence and confidence to game them each week in comps andi i do have a mental arguement that i do use my more muscled caviities at times in monthly comps ( PRGR tr 500 / IDBL im looking at you) but they dont give me that adrenaline surge as with a set of HONMA , tousrstage, mbs .THATS the why .SO ill get into a few sets ive gamed over the aslt 30+ yrs ( if can rememeber tthem all } and ill pop up pics and hopefully other like minded bladers will join in ........................., Edited June 9Jun 9 by supo
June 9Jun 9 Author TOURSTAGE mr23 These might just be my fave set of pure ,straight up Mb of them all. There are more revered, more precious ., more sohpisticated options out there but for THE most simple , complete players MB , they are at the top of my pile. Due in no sml part to the shape of the 8/pw , that shape puts them right at the top with the honma tw but ill get to those later.I first found them not long after they came out early 2000s and have a had a set ( or 2) in play most of that time.my latest set(s) will prob last me till i stop playing one is a stock chrome ENDO forged / DGs200 set 3/pw in fabulous nick, ive been toying with putting a set of NS super peening orange in these for years, but havnt done it bec i jsut cant fault the way they perform with the DGs200s. if anything im tlepted ot find a set in good nick ot do that, but can not find any suitable.these DG ones are my travelling set, ESP to the sand belt im Melb and south there of . they suit those cond as good as any club ive ever palyed.i take these and a set of prgr tr500s down there, i dont even bother with anything else. The other set were Mr Mruayamas 2004 US masters set in copper.they only get used on special course days to preserve them as much as i can. i swapped out the N226v X by Ns for a set of shimada 3001s constant weight and Masda slicks. ...........THAT was a good swap. these play for me JUST perfeclty , a little lower, a little flatter. but can make them do what they were made to do. fizz about with the course.def Not long , just precise , the pw is 47* A Good thing is , they are NOT the same as the retial veriosn, slightly more compact. with a bit less off set and a thinner top line wi much shorter hosel and thicker muscle. not much.. but, u can see it.they are both bsolute scimitars and about as presice as a club can get i know not how and ive discussed this with Chris yrs ago, even tho they were ENDO forged, both tourstage and yanaha DONT have that soft pillowy fluffy cusshy EPON /ENDO/ONOFF feel to them , they are noticeably denser , thicker, deeper at imapact u know where u ahve hit the ball all the time.is it better or or worse.......... thast for the observer to decide ,for me, i think it suits this head perfectly. July 9Jul 9 Author next up BUCHI MT201i added these recently and have had some teething problems with them , when they are good they are very very good.......but of late they have been sensational. finally got them wired a few times in a row to make a significant impact on my confidence playing them on top courses i went . 5-pw as im hitting my big fat old 4i form prgr so well no point with these having a knife 4.small. thin. rounded. kinda of have a slight old sckool gooseneck with out being goose neck , hard ot explain, flat sole but with bounce, hard to explainpics do it MUCH better,U know when u hear those explaianations esp on drivers.. pro level but have a ton of forgivness...... made for GI but can go miles , u knw u gotta that that with a grain of salt. so what im suggesting here or trying to imply is ALMOST the same with these , they are shaped as such they are like scalpels on hard pan , as good as ANY for those conds, but they have bounce to them that makes hitting out of rough easy and off thicker juicier grass a delight.i know........ shoot me , but its true, in fact more so than both the honmas and tourstage.when ooking at the ball at address , the head shape frames the ball bigger than it is becd they have aa higher toe and a bit shorter lenghth , with a top line that has some body to it, some weight , some power , where as the toursatge re thinner and all knife like , these have some oomph to them similarly to miuraism sb01 but rounder, sb01 are rectangular. these are rounded.impact is SO similar to both the miuraism and masda mb its impossible to tell which is which. let alone better , there is no better.workability - both ways with aplomb, favours neither a cut nor draw, Sb01 like a cut honama are neutral , ts can maybe see a draw easier. yonex DEFINITLEY DRAW LOOK.flight- is mid , they dont look so fat in the muscle that the ball will bring rain.design looks- outstanding, they font on these looks superb thye REALLY look like a top of the run club.Tabuchi san did a heck of a job with these. ill let the pics talk now......................... ive said enough Edited July 9Jul 9 by supo
August 14Aug 14 Author SRIXON 945mb:IMO..THE best srixon mb theyve done.thers more tech packed in these than another mb ive come accross, bar none.vsole.cross milled facetungsten weights in longer irons.endo forged .mid size , thicker top line, mid wide sole, very chunky solid compact head .at address, it looks blocky and powerful , between edgey and rounded its a very nIce look.the thought is these will "go" . and they do they seem to go a tad longer then pure mbs but its not by much 46* pw is stock.the scoring irons have a lower flight to then them weighting isnsuch that they are amde for knocking at pins. the longer irons are more flighted. u dont have to swing for the fences .impact of course is pure ENDO soft and dense. off centerd misses hard to differentiate, good ones simply melt in your hands.the score lines are such that ball slipping is reduced ESP when its wet.and u can get some good spin esp with cut fade shotd the ball really zips.i dont put them as Pure blade bec of their size , rather a muscle backed iron , they are as good as anything ive hit in bad conds and are verstaile to play in all manner of grass from soft fluffy jpn bermuda to tough as teak dry aussie kaikuya buffalo .the more i play them the better they get and the higher their stocks surge.these are 100% a one stop set.more so than anything else other than epon aftours. ....which ill elaborate on next... 6 hours ago6 hr Author A-grind r1........ mitsubishi oti85 xive not gamed these head in years. On release i grabbed a set and put some TT monaccos X in them......., played them for a while ( not long) and sold em , the TT was intersting idea bec. these heads are not the softest marshmallows in the packet, nothing like mizuno, epon or the like, they are very thin up top and u feel an enormous amount of feeback from them rather that just a mushi sweet gush . slight miss**ts were boardering on catastrophic for me so i by passed them for years untill a few months ago when i hit one at a range session (along with my honma tw) and loved the set up , had it on a string so much so i bought the set there and then.lets say the difference between the TTs and the OTi, is extreme to say the least.MONs need the softest heads possible as they are on the taught side of taught... the OTI are a stiffer carbon but not really a task master , they go wonderfully with this denser head, they ahve a noticeable flex, light weight over all but with a heavy feeling head.set up, these " look to the eye " slightly toe in appearance ,which i LOVE being a cut ball striker as a rule, the look to me is super appealing as it always gives me hope that my muted draw swing WILL in fact lead to a draw, somehting that fails me with many other clubs.ball launch is mid ish to not high.. and they are workable both ways to a very appealing degree they are NOT point shoot.distance is good i found i got a half club more carry as a minimum, and im alwasy going a club lower than more when it comes to that in the middle decision .they are im finding, one of my more favourble clubs to game of late esp on dryer ground, they have plenty of sole width for juicy conds but the uber thin top line can be brought into play quite often , hit it high on theee and loose a lot of distance. hit it low....barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsh..! hence i m enjoying playing these in colder dryie months .really intersting clubs these, on the much smaller comapct side but with a super full borad sole and that triangle shape cavity muscle to give them plenty of gallop when middled.IF ur a constistance GOOD ball strikwe that likes to see movement, these are knockouts! just take care on shafting............., In terms of heads
