This is the first of 3 sets of custom irons that we will be introducing in the next month. :)

The Scratch Tour CB is a small, compact forged cavity back with minimal offset and a thin topline. They are designed with an innovative progressive face thickness technology that allows us to locate the COG in the proper place on each iron in the set. The faces in the long irons is thinner allowing for more perimeter and sole weighting for a lower COG and more playability. The faces in the short irons and PW are thicker allowing us to place more mass behind the ball with a higher COG for increased accuracy, feel and workability.

The raw heads are forged right next to our wedges at Ishihara Japan out of the same soft 1018 carbon steel that provides that soft, sweet feel that all of our customers rave about. Just like our custom wedges we take each very heavy raw head and hand grind and polish them one at a time to exact weight, grind and shape. We take no shortcuts at all in building our clubs. Each one is bulit from scratch to insure that everything comes out to your specs.

Just like our custom wedges these custom irons are being offered with just about any specs. You choose any taper tip shaft, any grip, the lengths, lofts and lies, swingweights, any of our 7 finishes, stampings and paintfill color. We offer 3 headshapes for you to choose from, Standard, Square and Round. We can modify any one of the shapes to fit your spacific requests. We also offer any sole grind. When you place your order our fitting experts will go over your swing and your game to determine the grind that will correctly fit your needs.

The price for 3-PW with any taper tip steel shaft except Nippon and Project X is $1250 plus shipping. Nippon is a $75 upcharge. Project X is a $100 upcharge. We offer graphite shafts on a custom order basis. 2 irons are available for $150.

We have 12 sets of these irons available right now for sale. After these sets are gone it will be atleast 8 weeks before we have more sets available. Feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions.

These irons are Polished Chrome and Standard Shape:

Ari your killing me :x

Just dumped the XCBs for the GDs and I have the custom Mizunos on order then you slam us with these great looking clubs.

Where are these grind-ed at Ishihara? Where was the finish done?

They look top notch. Excellent job!

:D They look even better in person and they play even better than that. 8)

This set was ground by our master grinder in our shop just like our wedges and all the other custom irons. The finish was done by our plater, the same guy who does the Brushed Satin, Brushed Nickel and Copper finishes.

I love the new numbers and the Scratch Stamping. That finish is awesome! Makes me want to get mine redone! These irons are really incredible. The feel and shape is very similar to my previous "holy grail" MR-23's. What's key is I had a mizuno like grind done on my irons which cut through the grass much better for me than the MR-23's did. What I found amazing was that these irons are actually more forgiving than the MR-23's. Most notably the long irons are extremely forgiving, which really took me by surprise. Hands done you will not find a better iron. I can see Waldo went with a slightly different shape than me. I like that shape too! Good luck in the tourny Waldo!

Ari is this set progressive? and in what way? Please describe What Wild Waldo Wanted?

The COG and perimeter weighting are progressive on this set. The 3 iron has the lowest COG and most perimeter weighting. The PW has the highest COG and least perimeter weighting. We were able to achieve this by progressivly varying the thickness of the face and in relation how much weight we had to put in the perimeter. The face of the 3 iron is the thinnest, the face of the PW is the thickest and they vary progressivly throughout the set. This allows us to design the long irons to be as forgiving as possible and the short irons to be more accurate and workable.

It is also worth noteing that this set looks exactly like a blade at address. It is the same size and profile as our Tour Blade which is very simular to an MP33 or 690MB.

The first thing Waldo wanted was to finally play the right shaft and specs. He has a 120+ mph driver swingspeed and has been fit into X100, 1/2" long 2* upright numerous times. Yet he never bothered to change from the weak stiff flex Nike Speed Steel that came in his Pro Combos. He never changed any of the specs he just played them standard. So we started with X100 shafts 1/2" long and 2* upright from Nike Pro Combo specs. For shape he wanted a simular toe shape to the Pro Combos but with a more pronounced sharp toe. The sole grind has a little bit of camber and a killed leading edge like the Titleist 600 series but with less bounce. The glare on the polished chrome in the pics makes the killed leading edge hard to see in the pic. The grind is simular to his Nikes but with the killed leading edge which will help prevent the clubs from bouncing off the ground a little bit which is the only thing he didnt like about the grind on his Nikes. They will be battle tested this weekend so we will soon see!

Macgregor back in `99 had a very very similar (identical?) set called the PCB Tour. PCB stood for Progessive Cavity Back. It was a very very workable and effectice cavity back. So I'd say this set should be a good set, being very similar to one of the best forged cavity backs of all time --- the Mac PCB Tours. I'll try to post pics on my Mac PCB Tours when I can so it can be compared to this beautiful babies by Ari.

great pics ari - glad to see you idndt take these youself :-P they really do justice to your irons. the first proto pics of the CBs did not knock me over, but these do. the finish & shape & stamping are all top notch. and i know from my own wedges that the feel is better than anything else out there. now you just need to get more sets out there!

PCB Tours - really sweet irons. I had a friend with a set, and he loved them. Darren Clarke actually played them for a while, then went to the blades PMB I think, the MP-33s and now RAC Combos.

Jovi,

I am very fermiliar with the MacGregor PCB Tours. Excellent set of clubs. The progressive cavity technology on those irons was very simular to the progressive face thickness on our Tour CBs. Our CB is noticeably smaller with less offset and a thinner topline. It has a much more bladelike appearance at address.
