DemolitionMan
I made the mistake of playing some Mizuno irons for a couple of rounds just to goof around. Now I cannot hit my MR-23s. I never realized how small those damn irons were until I gave them up for a week. And they are too light! Looks like I may have to get rid of my TS irons and woods. It got so bad that I even went out to buy a set of Titleist 704s just as a backup set. I played those for the last two rounds and those are some really good irons. It also does not help that my quest for an all Shigeki bag was ruined when TS made the worse driver ever. And what do they have to make up for that? Nothing. All the TS drivers are weak. I thought my club ho days were pretty much over. I need to get rid of my R7s and finally admit the 510 DF is much better for me. Rough week of golf...... I don't care if it's a old $100 200 steel FW. If it works, it stays, or at least I don't sell it while I try something else out.
nearfall152
I need to get rid of my R7s and finally admit the 510 DF is much better for me. If you don't mind me asking, what problems did you encounter with the R7 that makes the DF better suited for you? No judgements, I made the reverse decision and was wondering what you thought about it.

DemolitionMan
DM are just trying to find excuses to start hoing again.Old story for him! Too much $$$ in his pocket. :surprize: Ha-ha. I don't need an excuse to be a club ho. I just think as my swing is starting to get better and more compact, the lite/loose shafts of my TS irons are not helping. This whole disaster started because it has been a very windy summer and I am hitting a lot more punch shots. I had my 3 and 4 iron pretty well dialed in until I took a break for two weeks, then I went back to the MR-23s and my eyes were telling me, wow those things are tiny. Still, nothing beats a purely struck ball by a MR-23. As far as the R7 goes, it's really a stupid gimmick. The weights offer so many ridiculous combinations it is almost impossible to get it dialed in when you start factoring in shafts. And on top of all that, when you look at some of the TM recommendations they are suggesting changing the swingweight by 2 or 3 points in some instances to change ballflight. I really do not believe in this theory. I this the R7 best in the neutral base setup of 10's and 2's. Let's say with the Fuji that I have it at D-2. If I am comfortable with D-2, then why would I follow TMs recommendation for a high draw that ends up with D-4? Then the club starts to feel horrible...downright unplayable. I am talking about the TP. The regulat R-7 is actually better than the TP because it limits you to two weight sizes and no need to start worrying about messing up the swing weight. I may have to give that club another look. Still, the 510DF is the best driver TM ever made, it has the right ball flight, the right headweight, the right size, forgiveness, etc..... Polymer
That doesn't seem to make any sense. The regular is better because it comes with less weights? Why not just use those same weights w/ the TP? Yes the extra weights let you do more but no on says you HAVE to use them.. Actually, the BB Irons are the backup to the backup to the backup. I've kept my Z101s, TS-202s, and I recently picked up a set of J's Pro.Weapons CB's. Some days, though, you just want to go out with a trouble-free round. That's where the BB's come in. :smile1:
doc
If you don't mind the sharper leading edge, the X-blades are more forgiving than the MR23s.
+TourSpecGolfer
I am bummed that there is no Tourstage Driver for our niche, We need to tell them we want a square face, conforming, 400cc bomb dropping foam headed driver. :wah: How about a J400 that would be nice, I guess we will have to wait for the 05 Maru's. I pray for Cb's

I never realized how small those damn irons were until I gave them up for a week.  And they are too light!  Looks like I may have to get rid of my TS irons and woods. DM, I made the same mistake, only I ended up ordering a set of custom Mizzy Japan MP37s in a satin finish from Chris! In the meantime, the MR23s are still working just fine for me. Personally, I love the smaller head size as I find it easier to work the ball in both directions and attack the ball from all kinds of different angles - especially if I want to keep the ball low in the wind with knock down and punch shots. And out of the rough, the MR23s are pure money! It will be very fun to see if my new mizzy set can knock the MR23s out of the bag. I'll know soon as they're on their way from Japan as I speak!!! :mizuno: :tourstage:

I have tried to make the Maru work, the X390, but in the end as much as I really liked the design and style, once I got over thinking that I could make it work, the lofts just beat me up. TourStage! robbie
hey demo if ya wanna try some gauge irons, or some tour tm irons, give me a call....i also got some 510s and R7s with da 771 speeder in stiff !
PxExG
Tourstage - they have this air of mystique linked to their clubs. Be it the holographic MR-23 logo, majestic forgings/feeling, or sheer style - they have it all. I have 2 Tourstage clubs - both MARU clubs. The 2 iron is the MR-23 CB and I still love it, have it over 6 months now and it just allows me to hit so many shots. Nothing feels as pure Next we have the MARU. I hate to use other people's analogies but the MARU is the stunning blonde, perfect figure, but very high maintance and not a lot going on between the ears! Its a great looking 370cc head - it plays true to loft - is longer than anything I have hit so far - it launches on a beautiful flat trajectory.... BUT you have to be on your game for every shot with it. There is no give in it and for me (reason I got rid of it) it is very hard to draw. Case and point - Ari had the R7 TP set up with all the weight on the toe, and he hooks it yet he cant draw the MARU.
hornyjuan
DM, You gotta move on...MR23 CB's are the thing of the past. There's probably going to be a new set of 23 CB's coming out soon. parputt
Maybe the driver has to be a tour model to have that feel we look for.I recently won a ebay tour issue Tourstage Z-375 driver and its a bomb. The auction stated toue issue no loft plain sole and it was>best of all it was no reserve so for 120 shipped I took a chance and wow.I put in a Aldila NVS stiff since the seller told me the loft was measured at 8.3 so I wanted to get some height and always wanted to try that shaft in a driver.Well it is right there with the 510 D.F.Great club for 200.00.Maybe we have to find more tour issue tourstage. DemolitionMan
OK, my affair with other irons is over.....for now.....Went back to the MR-23s today and loving the irons. Still not going back to the woods though. I have resorted to a TM 510TP with the crummy 757. For FWs though, I am really liking the Sonartec NP99s with speeder 757 tour specs. +TourSpecGolfer
Hey guys cool news, I hear the rumor ( from pro support ) that Maru will be switching to Cb's next year, He already plays the M266V NS Pro shafts over the X100's and he has been using the more forgiving X-Drive 2, it looks like he may be getting back to his Japan roots with more forgiving equipment soon.
