  1. 1. Fourteen TC 530 - best feeling 2. The absolute by far longest irons Ive ever hit were the MACGREGOR NVG2 MIDS. with the quadra action graphite shaft. I hit a 200 yard par 3 with a 6 iron. I got almost 2 clubs more with each iron and never carried more than a 6. The heads were hollowed out with titanium face inserts. The Fourteen TC 330s are close and a better design for overall control and distance. 3. Best overall - Titleist AP1 714 - great feel and turf interaction, short irons deadly on full shots and chipping, 4 5 6 7 almost hybrid like in ease of use.
  2. The approach I have used is placing a GOLFWORKS tungsten weight pad on the back weight port. Softens the feel and sound nicely. http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_GW0054
  3. Matrix RED TIE has got to be the stiffest most anti left shaft Ive ever tried to hit. As an example my buddy who swings 120 to 125 mph can even hit the R flex and not overpower it. The S is stiffer than most X flexes and the X is off the charts rebar.
  4. If the pattern follows the last 2 Glories , ther will be 2 Fuji models.... the GL450 and GL550. (weight based) The shafts in last years Glorie Reserve were a bit tighter and slightly stiffer given the same flex than the 2012 Glorie. I was dialed in with the 2012 Glorie, I just got max carry with a high draw and minimal rollout. The Reserve was longer with a stronger trajectory and better rollout. I have put several shafts in this head, and the Crazy Prototype 513 S worked the best for me in this head as well as the 2012 Glorie.
  5. I have had good luck with the Kusula Blue /PTUNE combo. I would bet the Lighter TPLX shafts would be great in this head also.
  6. The Honma Perfect Switch 440 is a very solid driver. The problem is that is only was available in a 9 degree loft. Armrq shafts are top grade.
  7. It might be the combination of the touale and that I have 2 6 gram weights up front ON THE s 13 moving the center of gravity forward, but Im getting exactly what I want out of the 2 drivers just that each is a role reversal than what I expected. I can't wait until I can see what these clubs can do in prime conditions. Winter season has started here. Ive been playing in mid 40 to mid 50 temps with soft fws and getting close to very good summer condition drives. The D13 Messenger combo I have the weights at 4 4 4. It is a bit more versatile trajectory wise due to the slightly deeper face and I can vary the tee height to get the desired trajectory.
  8. The shafts are very similar feel and flex wise. The Raytis Ravie S is the smoothest of the bunch and launches the highest. It is much softer than the other 2 and if you have a smooth tempo as I do, its a good fit. I had that in the D13 with a weight setup of 3 4 gram weights and replaced it with the messenger. A bonus of this experiment is that the Raytis Ravie S shaft that was in the D13 is an awesome fit for me in the Glorie Reserve head. That was the 1st JDM driver I got for 2013. It was a work in progress for a few months using various shafts, and I didn't get it dialed in as I had with the 2012 Glorie. Then the T388 became a money driver and along various MAXIMA setups and with the Fourteen CT 112 had the A BAG position. The Glorie Reserve Raytis Ravie S shaft combo was awesome in 45 degree windy temps. I was using tHe Glorie Reserve downwind AND THE s13 INTO THE WIND.
  9. i have mentioned this before. There are rubber tungsten weights that attach on the back of most drivers. They weigh 2 grams each. I put one on the center back of the S 13 and the feel is not as hard and metallic. Between the S 13 and D13 I believe the S 13 has a harder feel, and flies much lower. Im getting a T388 flight and rollout with an 11 Degree S 13 head with the Raytis Touale S. The 10.5 D13 is a softer feel and higher flight with the Messenger SR shaft The S13 is as anti hook as any driver Ive ever hit, yet unlike most anti hook extreme setups the high right miss doesn't happen here. Dead straight bullets like the T388 with more forgiveness. 2 6 gram weights up front and a 4 gram in the back. I will say though that the T388 when pured has the best strike/feel. at impact of any JDM driver Ive ever hit.
  10. I was curious about this and looked up the new models. The current Power Tornado has the same basic oval shape and bore thru Hosel of the K2K but has a GINTY WARBIRD type sole plate.
  11. i still have 2 K2Ks. They were way ahead of the curve years ago and will still hold up today.
  12. I have been using Rubber Tungsten Swingweight Tape on several clubs. They are perfect to add head weight to the EGGS. Each ½” x ½” weight chip weighs 1 swingweight point (2 grams). Ive added 3 or 4 to each FW and Hybrid.
  13. Okay, I finally got the new PRGR 2013 EGG Utilities this week and put them into play on my home course yesterday. I got the 4 and 5 with the stock M-43 shaft. I am a big fan of the PRGR EGG lineup. I have had 3 generations of EGG fws, and the 2011 EGG 4 5 and 6 utilities and also the EGG irons (that helped me play thru an elbow injury 2 years ago. For those that had the previous EGG UTILITIES and might not jump to the new ones as from the surface the overall head shape looks very similar and visually the only major difference is the addition of the WEIGHT on the back of the club.... Well as an EGG fan I will say this... The new EGG utilities have the biggest improvement of any product line of any club I have ever tried. (yeah Ive tried quite a few). In addition to the rear weight (that helps substantially) the main feature that wowed me big time yesterday is how explosive and forgiving the face is. The face is very thin and if you look carefully at the front of the cavity behind the face you can see a hollow chamber with a supporting wall. This is where the big improvement is. The entire face is a sweet spot. I was hitting the 21 degree 4 around 220 - 230 yards and the 5 195 to 210. A good ten yard pickup over the previous models. The problem is now I have a yardage gap and will order the 25 degree 6. The one main issue I had with the original EGG utilites was that although they were easy to play and elevate the ball, they were not the best wind clubs, as it was hard to hit a lower controlled shot. No so with the new 2013 line. I moved the ball a few inches back in my stance and A nice controlled mid draw was the result. Bottom line.. I could not have asked more of a club for an initial round.
  14. If the weight is moved up front the spin and trajectory lower dramatically.
  15. It has been longer than expected to post a followup to this as I have been playing thru a foot injury the last 3 weeks. Just not a viable test scenario. I am to the point where I can make a decent pass at the ball though not 100 % but close enough to give a followup evaluation. I have put the heaviest extra weights 2 - 6 grams up front, and 2 grams in the back. NO QUESTION THAT THE TRPX head feels more solid and substantial with the weights up front. . I'm getting the desired T388 low mid trajectory with very good rollout on soft fws (7 inches of rain the past 6 days.). This setup is very forgiving with a great overall average distance. The Fourteen CT112 is still the benchmark this year for wow factor drivers for me (near 47 inch shaft might be the reason). but Ive tried long light setups before and not had the same results. Something about the CT112 head just meshes with the way I swing. Back on point I had a a great overall driving round today with the TPLX, and have great confidence in the package that I will use it in a local tournament next week. That said now that Ive tweaked this setup as a new baseline the S-013 IS NEXT ON THE QUEUE.
  16. Speaking of the 435 The light weight I removed from the TRPX I put in the back of the 435. I then took the rear weight from 440 and put it on the HEEL side of the 435. It basically had the same effect on the 435 as the weight has been moved forward. The 435 has always been a bomber, but.... I am such a feel player that the hard feel of the 435 put the club on the back burner for me. Well... It felt amazing on the range today, and I was putting it to the net at the back of the range 255 with plenty of force to spare matching any previous setup I have. So.. . Since we are having fabulous weather for the DC area thru Sunday with May / June Temps 85 to 88, I am having a 3 way shootout between the PTUNE, TRPX , and 435 this weekend.
  17. I can say for sure that the rear weight of the Craxy 435 is 100% compatible with the TPLX, and vice versa. What I did was put the rear weight of the 435 in the front heel side of the TPLX removing the light heel side front weight. . I then swapped weight positions of the front light toe weight with the TPLX rear weight. The ball flight difference and feel was amazing. The default setup felt like a light Maxima D. i was hitting high slight fades and could not release the toe at impact. With the weights moved up front the head felt more substantial, like a mix between the T.388 solid penetrating hit and a Maxima TYPE V straight ball. It was a very neutral setup with a penetrating ball flight that I prefer much like the T388, PTUNE, and Fourteen CT 112 (the standout drivers for me for 2013). Very happy with this adjusted setup (as good an initial tweak performance bump that I can remember).
  18. i have a D 10.5 at 200 grams and it also came out around D0 to D1 (TOO LIGHT) . with the Ratris Ravie S shaft at 45.75 inches. Since the head was made by JBEAM, I took the rear weight out of the 435 and put it in the TRPX replacing one of the lighter weights on the heel side since the face was lagging a bit open with the Ravie shaft setup. . Now its up to D5 at 45.75 inches and feels much better.. .I see the CRAZY Weight kit is on sale at the site. It should be compatible (maybe TSG can chime in here). if so I would like to have more weight options. The Ratris Ravie S is similar to the Royal DEC, it feels smoother but plays a bit softer than the same flex in the Royal DEC. This might be a better shaft option for me in the winter season in 35 to 50 degree temps. , The TOUALE S or SX is probably a better fit in prime season for me. I will test the TRPX today with the added 435 weight on the heel side and report back. .
  19. I have given the TRPX a few test rounds on select holes, but not enough yet to get a solid pattern. Based on the limited test sample results I have tweaked the setup a bit. After tomorrows round, I will have A better feel as I will test it the entire round against the PTUNE in perfect weather conditions (sunny 80 degrees) . Detailed report to follow.
  20. The lowest loft setting for the PTUNE is 9.25, with a one degree open face. I have hit it the last 2 days. It is as anti left as any driver Ive ever hit, and I am a Right to left player and have the setting at 11.25 1 degree closed, and I am hitting dead straight to killer power fades. This is my 2nd round with it and control and distance is so good, I put it into play in a 2 day tournament this weekend with as good of overall driving results as I could hope for. . I missed one FW slightly right , and completely eliminated the left side miss. I am using a kUSULA BLUE 56 S at 45.75 inches. The feel is fantastic, super forgiving and a very explosive soild hit with a T338 penetrating type trajectory and roll out. That is a good thing
  21. 2 stock shafts have been spot on for me this year. The GD in the 388 is a perfect fit, as is the stock shaft in the FOURTEEN CT 112. i
  22. I also got my EGGs (15 and 16.5) in and played a test round today. Despite the deeper face the new Eggs are fabulous off the turf. I re shafted the 16.5 with an ALDILA BLUE ATX tour. Just an amazing combo. I used it for 2nd shots on 3 pars 5's and striped it pure around 230 carry and radar straight. The 15 degree I kept the M 43 shaft in and it was a beast off the tee. IN mid 50 degree temps on lush bermuda fws I could hit this 250 to 260 with no effort at all. I hit it longer than the 3 DEEP, and it felt hotter. The big improvements with the new egg fws are quality of contact at impact and turf interaction. The new egg has the smoothest almost glide action (steelheadl like) thru the turf, and that is a good thing. A great start.
