  1. As I have mentioned am having a lot of fun doing this. One of the things I have done is pull out all these Drivers and a host of others and give them a whirl again. Just to check. Some of these I have not hit for more than 6 months. I do have actual GPS distances and averages on my computer, somewhere, probably in amongst my porn collection. You know that safe spot where we cant lose it. For me the 388 is definately behind in terms of distance. If we talk about consistant distance then this is probably number one. Pretty much I know I can hit this 220 metres plus, even on a bad day and still be in play. On the other hand I think it would be a surprise if I could nail this to 260 metres. This is pretty much my limit. Other Drivers, I can get to 260 metres, but I can also hit it less than 200, depending on the bounce off trees or where the water is. Also it is no shame for the 388 to finish here. Lastly, I have not hit the Maxima.
  2. Patience Grasshopper Good things come to those who wait
  3. 10 OnOff 9. Epon Zero 8. Ryoma 7. crazy 460 6. S Yard 388 Have already posted on this so everyone knows I like this Driver. I like it a lot. Only had it a couple of weeks so definately still in the honeymoon period. But heck its already lasted longer than many marriages, Low launch and straighter than Robin Hoods last arrow. Definately longer than the Ryoma, for me, but is it as accurate.... Time will tell. Have got the stock shaft and at this point am quite happy with it. Dont really have a lot to say about this as I really have not had it long enough to find all its quirks and secrets. A bit like a girl called Grace in Grade 9. I am Still experimenting with tee height etc Am pretty confident on what I have seen so far, that it wont make the top 5. From here on the competition is tough. In case I forget to mention, I do like the Driver and if I have any trouble, will definately get counselling.
  4. I struggled with this one originally and only persevered because it was so accurate. Just tried and tried to get that bit extra distance. Honestly, this head has seen more shafts than a Kings cross call girl. It was only the Royal Dec that really saw any distance gains. Accuracyu also didnt suffer which is strange for me as with the Royal dec I am usually all over the place.
  5. the big guns are now starting to roll out. One important point is that I am having a lot of fun doing this and at least a couple of others are too. The Crazy 460 is my favourite Crazy head. For me though it does not have the same feel or sound off the face as the others but it is just a great all round performer. And this post is about length, nothing else For me we now start to see some bigger distance gains. From now on these are the big boys. Like the Crazy Boron shaft the Royal Dec is also one that i dont get along with. A lot of people say that about me. Coupled with this head though it is a winner. Very forgiving and boy it can go. High launch but seems to get roll with it, much more than other combos that launch the same. Slightly lower launch and carry than the OnOff but with roll. Tons of it. it just goes about its business, unflustered by wind, rain, sunshine. Even the ice cream van doesnt worry it Until the T.388 came along I rated this the best head behind the Ryoma. That may still be the case. Not quite as forgiving as the Ryoma but not too far behind. Tried this combo on the recommendation of a fellow TSG'er and am thankful for that. if my swing improves this could easily be my number 1 Driver. With the right shaft and player this could be a real threat. Sadly that player is not me
  6. It is no secret of my love for this driver. If only it could cook and clean. I think all double digit handicappers should at least give this one a go. As we know it does not work for everyone, but there is just so many people it does work for. As one of our learned TSG'ers once said to me, 'its not short, its just not long". Heard that plenty of times before. Still longer than most though. I put it down to the fact that we are hitting the fairway and hence seeing it at its maximum more often. This thing just hates the rough unkempt stuff. It loves the low cut grass. A bit like me I suppose. It starts straight and likes to stay that way. Sounding more and more like me. One fault with this head is that I struggle in strong winds with it. More so than any other driver. Accuracy is not hampered but distance is hammered. Also I have found that some shafts do work better than others but it works with just about anything. Even supos tomato vine holders would be ok in this head. I have 3 of these with different shafts and am happy to hit any of them. Though this one is my best. Initially it gave me a mid to high launch but as my swing has improved, the launch is now low. Hence my search for more launch with higher lofted drivers. It seems for me at least, that I get maximum distance with a lower launch.
  7. Heard the joke about rodeo sex. Well this is it. Hang on for a wild but fun ride. I have really struggled with the zero, and have never once tamed it. But when you nail it , it goes good. In my hands it is very inconsistant and I really think it is better suited to far better players than me. Certainly those with a lot, and I mean a lot more swing speed. But this post is only about length so it deserves its spot. It is the longest Epon head that I have hit Tried the Crazy Boron shaft as a last resort and found an extra gear with it. Odd as this is the only combo where the Crazy Boron even comes close to working for me. Hard to desrcibe how I find this head. When I hit it, its like it never reaches its full apex so definately swing speed is the key for me. It looks like it wants to go, but just cant. As if I left the hand brake on. Gives low to mid launch. Some have reported forgiveness, alas, no redemption or hail Marys for me. As good as it looks and feels, I have always said that the Risk V Reward just is not there, I did hit 14/14 fairways with this, sadly they were in different postcodes. Got the Royal Dec in it here but I found the Boron to be longer. Anyone who finds this more forgiving than their wife, let me know. I want to keep the Zero, we'll just swap wives
  8. To get the ball rolling we start Number 10 OnOff XD 10^ No idea of proper Head name or year etc Real sleeper this one Bought to give maximum carry during our wet season where wet means wet Had absolutely no ambition to hit big Drives with this one but...... It should be called the OnOff High draw Driver. Jack the Ripper would struggle to slice this. This is high launching and with any kind of tail wind the ball seems to have wings. It glides and seems to keep going. Never seen this before. Do not get the same effect into the wind or with a slight tail wind but at the same time do not see any real negative into the wind effect. I have spoken to no-one else who experiences this with this head so it must just be a great match to me all carry though and stops quicker than most of my wedge shots. If I could carry a strong tail wind around with me, this would be the winner
  9. Did not really know where to post this and did not want to clog up the main section. This isna bit of fun hopefully for all of us Tario etc can move it if they want
  10. I am often asked as what is the longest head out there driver wise. I do subscribe that some heads are longer than others. I do think the right pairing of the shaft can make a big difference. So I thought that I would open up to the world as to what I rate JDM wise. Firstly, without a doubt the longest Driver I have hit is the Ryoma ST, but since it is not legal, I have ruled it out. Got my handicap down to 9, and the Driver is probably the strongest part of my game. I do hit a lot of fairways. Swing wise Driver speed rarely gets above 100mph, unless you count in the car on the way to the course. Routinely high 90's low 100's Have not hit every driver out there, but have tried many, including a significant amount of head/shaft combinations. Significantly I have not hit the Kamui's, and that is really my only regret. So for a bit of fun i thought I would countdown to my top 10 Drivers distance wise. Just remember this is what I have found, all observations are course based as I never use the range or practice. Live and work about 500 metres from my local course. Most results are GPS measured over a long time with different conditions. Also I am not sure of the exact years models etc so have included pictures. This is a bit like Girls Gone Wild's 50 best breasts, just a bit more exciting. The clear winner Ryoma ST but excluded. Later today or tomorrow.......Number 10

How low would you tee it Am having good results with this and that is probably why

Great comments mate. If it offers nothing over what you have got then no point flogging a dead horse. Great for all the users out there to see that it does not work for everyone. With all the positive press given to this driver, from me included, there would be a few thinking of getting it. Good for them to see a negative, particularly at the moment where quite a few people are scared to post negative comments. Love to hear more about the Maxima, especially given Jimmiebois great write up
  13. Great review. The video gives us a great insight. After just giving the T388 a big wrap..... Just what I need .. Another Driver

Driver wise I pretty much have had them all. If I dont then I have probably hit Supos. The Ryoma V Spec is undoubtedly the top dog. Straight, long, forgiving and very good quality. It has the number one spot in my bag. Having said that I have tried just about every combo out there to beat it. Alas, there has been no real serious threat to dethrone it. The Crazy 435 is longer, The Epons feel better, some sound better, many look better, the headcover is atrocious, but nothing has come close overall to the Ryoma. The thought has never entered my mind to change it. So much so that I now have 3 of them. Except the S Yard 388. This is the real deal. Have not hit it enough yet as only seriously used it for a week, compared to the Ryoma for over 2 years, but my gut feeling is that the 388 will dethrone the Ryoma. The 10.5^ gives me perfect launch, massive carry and tons of roll. Longer than the Ryoma by up to 1 club and not affected by wind. I have always said that the only negative to the Ryoma, for some unknown reason, is that it struggles in strong winds. The 388 has no such issues even with its higher launch. Time will only tell if it is as straight as the Ryoma, but to this point, it is at least as forgiving As most of you know, I don't tend to post much or say a lot about clubs but I just felt that I had to share my thoughts on this with you guys. I think it is that good.
  15. Mate I've often thought the same thing. Hardly ever mentioned. I have a set of the Ezone blades with Crazy steels and they are the irons I play with the most. As good as anything out there in my opinion. Didnt know they were Endo forged though. I thought they were done by Kyoei so it is good to know.
  16. I wish my brain could comprehend all this. My technical limit ends at supos shaft flight drawings

Man why you thinking of changing. You sick of being on the fairway

I still rate the Crazy 435 as the King Just wish I could hit it straight
  19. Interesting I just bought this exact combo when I was in Tokyo
  20. Wish I could hit 30 balls in that spot

As mentioned just back from 3 weeks in Japan skiing ,Disneyland, Tokyo and a couple of rounds of golf which I will post about with pictures later. Any of us on this site are truly blessed when we go to Tokyo to have the wisdom of supo to guide us thru the mecca of second hand gold shops. Went to Shinbashi to the Golden Triangle as he calls it. Anyone going to Tokyo make sure you head there as it is an absolute eye opener and will just astound you. Leave the wallet and credit card at home though. The amount of quality clubs is just mind boggling. As supo says you can pick up absolutely nothing or walk out with a dozen pearlers, depending on what has been traded. The interesting thing is what there is a lot of and what there is very little of. Some brands that are touted as being high end are a dime a dozen and can be bought for next to nothing including somemthat have only just been released. Already available easily second hand. Anyone heading to Tokyo make sure you pencil in a trip or 2. They are open till late so you have plenty of time. For the record I got off lightly. 3 Drivers, an old egg spoon, Epon hybrid, Egg iron and a set of Miura irons.

Great write up Especially interesting as the Ryoma is my trusty and the Crazy 435 is my bomber. Trying hard not to buy anything more but you are making it tough for me. Think I might have to give this a go particularly as my numbers are almost identical to yours.
  23. Some interesting design features built into that head. Almost as if the mold was broken at some point in its design. It certainly screams "Hit me" Now about the new Ryoma........

I think that we must all remember that the reason for the existance of TSG is as a commercial entity on its own. As individuals we should not compete against it.
  25. My heart is beating, my palms are sweaty, just can't wait to see Supos etchings. The Louvre isAlready moving one of the Picassos to make room
