KYOEI Blade Pics!
The obvious difference is the finish... Arakenma Kurozome vs Brushed Nickel Chrome the sole grinds are different as well. 5 cut sole on the KK MB and more leading and trailing edge relief for the Prototype MB. Both look out of this world, so I could really go with either!! Raw & wild look of the Kurozome provides an impression of a more aggressive power player ... and perhaps the smooth brushed nickel finish is more for players who prefer a sophisticated clean look. kind of like comparing Roy McAvoy vs David Simms in the movie "Tin Cup" ?

Swing weight for wedges
Well yes .. but it also makes it harder to catch the ball in the sweet spot.

New shaft from Real Sports (Grandista)
From what I have been able to gather through past readings and his lesson videos, Yoshida-san is a very technical guy who strongly believes equipment and technology can help golfers achieve better results in their game based on his experience as a teaching professional. And based on my experience with Grandsita products, it's safe to say that he really knows what he is doing!!

New shaft from Real Sports (Grandista)
What's encouraging though is that Yoshida-san who hits it 350 yards in this video uses the type 2 ... he says he normally uses a 70g range XX flex. Even though this shaft is 40g range, he can still give it a full swing without overpowering the shaft.

New shaft from Real Sports (Grandista)
Here is another blog which might be Google translatable. https://ameblo.jp/golfstageseijyo/entry-12423359608.html They say type 1 is for slower tempo who has a tendency to slice the ball.... I don't necessarily have a fast tempo but I'm also not a slicer... Hmmmm..... They do say that the shaft helps create more lag... which is what I absolutely need. we'll have to get the full description for better fitting data,

New shaft from Real Sports (Grandista)
I’ve tried flexy “magic” distance shafts in the past as well and they do typically go higher . I don’t create a lot of lag in my downswing and so I need a shaft with softer butt section so the shaft helps create lag for me. Most active tip shafts have a butt section that is too stiff for me. So I too normally use Diamana White type tip stiff shafts. I’m not good enough to hit high and low shots but I do hit cuts occasionally with draws being my normal shape. In the video, Yoshida san explains the tip section is not overly active but the whole lower section returns quickly like a “whip” suggesting a stable tip section. My worry on this shaft is more about the mention of using tungsen powder on the butt end to make it slightly counterbalanced and together with the lighter weight hints a shaft to be used at longer lengths like 46”+ which I do not prefer. After all, he was a long drive champ previously and used to using a 48” driver!!!

Swing weight for wedges
What are the disadvantages of a tip weight compared to lead tape aside from having to remove the shaft and reinstall? I would not want to put lead tape on a beautiful set of JDM wedges ?

Odyssey Japan Stroke Lab i putter!
played my Odyssey yesterday... unfortunately horrible green conditions after a wind storm on Friday to put it under a real test. distance control was really good even on longer putts but I need a bit more time to know the timing on how the face returns to square. I think the Benock is slightly quicker at shutting its face in my stroke. Odyssey has a more calmer/slower face rotation. Toe hang is less on the Odyssey as well. Placing the ball slightly forward in my stance should take care of it. I think the Micro hinge White Hot face insert may possibly be the best that Odyssey has produced from a immmediate forward roll perspective. Not seeing any skidding or hopping after impact. I do personally prefer a slightly more solid touch, but I can get used to this softer feel. Will keep this in my main bag for now. Will update after getting some rounds in better conditions.

Winter/wet weather golf, do you play lighter shafts or heavier shafts?
Same Modus 125 for me. I just need to adjust my distances accordingly especially when it gets under 50deg F or 10 deg C .

Price drop- For Sale: Crazy CBI-80 Iron Shafts 5-PW (Sold)
Ahhh!!! The unobtainium shafts!! So hard to find!!! Such good shafts. I have 2 sets tucked away for when I’m ready to switch to lighter graphite!!! These Stick Type were “Regular” flex according to Crazy , but I’ve found they actually play like a typical Stiff flex. They feel phenomenal !! I still think these are the best feeling graphite iron shafts ever!! GLWS !!

New shaft from Real Sports (Grandista)
Just saw a YouTube video of a new shaft called “Showtime” by Yoshida-san of Grandista. A sub 50g shaft designed to mimic the effects of a whip ( like the one used to tame circus animals ). Two models available for different swing tempos. Slow = 1.0 and Fast= 2.0 both models feature a stable mid section with a more active butt section as well as tip section. sounds like a double kick shaft from the description. Graphics are very understated with tip and butt sections only clear coated to expose the carbon fiber patterns the mid section is black with a subtle matte grey logo/lettering. I kind of like it!! Very tempted to give it a whirl but I’m also very hesitant of breaking up my current RSD / Diamond Speeder combo which is working so well for me. Perhaps I need to get another RSD head so I can try this shaft!! Would appreciate more info on this shaft, Chris!!

Correct. this is a Japan Only series and all the models are available here: https://www.tourspecgolf.com/odyssey-stroke-lab-i-putter.html I honestly think these are better than O-Works.

Odyssey Japan Stroke Lab i putter!
That is awesome!! I've always tried new offerings from Odyssey with their "new" concepts and this Japan only Stroke Lab seems like it's a step ahead from a design analysis/concept perspective compared to their global offerings. I normally swap out the stock tapered rubber grips to a taperless grip but this pistol grip somehow works pretty well. ( so far anyway.. ? ) I personally like the micro-hinge insert very much..... the forward roll it generates immediately after contact is pretty amazing. The new inserts that they have with the EXO series is not very good feeling in my personal opinion.

Odyssey Japan Stroke Lab i putter!
While I was in Japan this past Summer, my 14 year old daughter who plays high school golf wanted to play golf with her Grandfather (my in-law) while in Japan and so we went to pick up a driver and a putter from a used golf shop in Sagamihara. ( the rest of the set were borrowed from Mother in law's old no-name set ) We ended up getting her a Yamaha Femina ladies driver in purple! and also an first gen Japan only Odyssey Stroke Lab 1W putter in 33". The first generation "Stroke Lab" series was a Japan only putter which featured a cast stainless steel head with an internal cavity for enhanced perimeter weighting to add forgiveness in the head itself. A non insert face to provide a firmer more direct metallic feel at impact. Also a heavier head (+10g) , lighter shaft (-29g) , and heavier grip (+21g) which overall maximizes the MOI of the putter resulting in better tempo and reduces the opening and shutting of the putter face. Being the head of golf club procurement in my family (LOL!!) Obviously I had done extensive testing on this putter in the shop before deciding to purchase it for my teenage daughter. I really liked the shape of the 1W which has a slant neck on a blade!! Needless to say, by the time we got back from our trip I was already researching on the 2nd generation Stroke Lab i which is the new and improved version featuring the micro hinge insert used in their O-Works putters. And thank goodness they still made the 1W shape in this 2nd gen Stroke Lab!! After a couple of mediocre experiments with some nicer USDM putters recently, I finally got my hands on a Stroke Lab i 1W in 34" . Putting it for several hours this week on carpet, I am already getting some good vibes from this putter. The slant neck blade is currently my favorite shape along side my Benock. While the Benock Blue Dragon II requires full undivided attention to nail the sweet spot for proper action, the Stroke Lab i putter provides forgiveness on off-center strikes. It's much easier to get the ball on the intended line. So far so good. Not a big fan of the stepped shaft on the Stroke Lab but since it is a special ultra light shaft, I may have to do additional research to see of I can even find a replacement stepless shaft. I'm putting this new putter in play this weekend to see if I am going to keep it or not. I believe they also have a weight tuning kit sold in Japan which I may pick up to play around with the balance a bit. Odyssey makes good stuff!

Nippon modus3 Tour120 stiff .355" taper shaft question
That's what I've heard about Shimada Tour shafts. I think the Modus vs Shimada K's Tour comparison is similar to the DG vs PX comparison. I'm more of a Modus & DG person ... but I know that there are some out there who prefer the ( boardy/stable? ) feel of PX and K's Tour My interpretation is that Modus 125 and 120 as well as DG are more tip stiff and allows flex on the mid and butt sections. Whereas , PX and K's tour are more stiffer on the butt and mid sections with less stiffer tip sections. i.e. Active tip. In terms of JDM Shaft terminology, these two opposing characteristics are called "Nebari" which can be translated as stickiness, or viscous which has a more thicker consistency when talking about liquid substance and the other is "Hajiki" which means to pop or spring back rapidly. "Nebari" type shafts are DG , Modus 120 and 125 and the term refers to the rather mild movement of the tip section. typically these shafts match people with swings that do not create a lot of lag. The softer butt and mid section will help create that lag for these players. "Hajiki" type shafts are PX , Shimada Tour "Hajiki" type shafts are normally a good match with people who have rapid transitions and tempo ( "aggressive" ) and also able to create a lot of lag in their swing, Getting back to Drew's questions. If PX 6.5 works best for you, perhaps Shimada Tours would also work well. But you would not know for certain until you try. From the Modus line up, I am thinking the Modus 130 would be the closer to a PX 6.5 type characteristic. From a CPM perspective, Modus 130 may be a but too stiff ... but a Modus 130 S hard stepped once may be right up around the same CPM as a PX 6.5.

TECH question re butt/tip altertation
nobmontana replied to supo's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearTip cut: - Firms up the overall CPM as well as feel - ( typically speaking ) Slightly lowered flight, tighter dispersion if the change matches your swing. - Reduce swing weight Butt cut: - Firms up overall CPM but not as much as tip cutting - usually does not affect overall feel or flight. - Reduce swing weight If you are wanting to reduce the hooks with your current set up... I think tip cutting may help somewhat ... Having said that, if the shaft is a low kick active tip shaft to start off with, no reasonable tip cutting will change the shaft into a tip stiff shaft. I don't have experience with the Shingo shafts so I am not sure about what to expect. I have previously tipped some shafts up to 2" or so for a driver and while some tip cutting resulted in desired outcome, others just made the shaft too boardy and practically became unusable. It is somewhat of a risk when tip cutting. Butt cutting will maintain feel and trajectory for the most part but also will not be effective in changing the hooking tendencies that you currently have with this combo. Unfortunately it would be an "experiment."
