Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
These things are awesome, if your looking for something easy to hit and beyond long, it's really hard to look past these... I have the 25' with a Crazy ute shaft and it's just dynamite, I rarely use this club for full swings outta good lies, it's more of a get outta jail club, all sorts of crazy punch shots, shots outta deep rough, fairway bunkers, just about all of my dirty work, and when I do hit a full shot with it, it's borderline as long as any 20'-22' ute I've tried.,. Seriously, these are soo long I couldn't even game any of the lower lofts, they would throw my distances and distance gaps way off, but for anyone looking to add ALOT of distance, these are def the way to go.... Highly recommend it with the Crazy ute shaft, the EGGs fly quite high and the Crazy ute brings it to mid trajectory perfection.... Actually, i would recommend any utility with the Crazy ute shaft, lol, for me it's the perfect utility shaft and just gives the ultimate performance, i won't even try any other graphite shafts in utilities after hitting these. Crazy Steel shafts user feedback??
Wedge shafts are awesome, best I have tried so far without a doubt.... I generally don't play a wedge shaft at all as I don't like the feel I get from most of em, but these are tops, step less design doesn't hurt either lol.... So far I like the iron shafts alot, but I LOVE the wedge shafts. I haven't had a chance to try the 110 wedge yet(ordered 1 last night though) so this is only for the 120... Feel and flex wise: they play ultra stout, they don't feel crazy heavy in hand like some other wedge shafts do, but they are def the stiffest I have gamed, they're stiff in the right way though, very stable, with very little movement throughout the swing, but you get a bit of a lively feel at impact that I don't find in most other wedge shafts though, I wouldn't quite call it a kick, more of a short punch right through the ball on full swings which I really like, it makes the shaft a bit more rewarding than other wedge offerings in my opinion... Perfect match for the Yamaha wedges, solid, strong head matched with this very solid, punchy shaft is absolute bliss, I'll screw around with a bunch of setups in other wedges, but I'll never take the Crazy wedge shafts outta these, think AF Tours and SP Blues, they fit that well together... I recently tried the NS Pro WV 125 for a bit and outta any wedge shafts I have tried these are def the closest to the Crazys feel wise, the NS Pros feel a bit heavier but the Crazys feel a bit stiffer, the Crazy are also a bit more active through the ball which is why I prefer them... In my opinion they're def going to be a HUGE improvement feel wise over your spinners C. Performance: I won't say they straight up stand out as performing much better than all other wedge options because in my opinion must wedge shafts do what they're meant to do performance wise, but I'll def say they perform overall as well as any other wedge shaft I have tried, and they out perform the others I have tried in a few areas.... Workability is def the most important factor for me when I shaft up a wedge, the ability to control the spin and ball flight more so than anything else are the deciding factors as to weather I like the performance of a wedge shaft or not, I play ALOT of different shots with my wedges, and I want the shaft I game to work with me on that rather than fighting against me when I wanna alter the flight, shape, or spin, these accomplish that beautifully, no problems at all in the workability department, natural trajectory is a nice mid flight that's strong enough to stay on line, but gets up enough to land pretty softly, I would say it's consistent with the flight I have seen from most other wedge shafts, but these adapt to different trajectories better than most, no problems knocking the flight down a bit with a little hook or cut spin, or opening the club up and blasting it high outta deep rough to land it feather soft, alot of that has to do with the head your playing without a doubt, but some shafts fight adjustments to the ball flight and make it difficult to get just the shot you want, these don't do that at all for me.... As far as total overall spin, they do pretty well, again, consistent wit most other wedge shafts that will increase spin a bit, but anyone who is looking for the wedge shaft that just flat out spins the most on every shot should only be looking at the DG Spinners, they spin FAR more than other wedge shafts from what I have seen, I'm not partial to the shaft, but if your just looking for max spin outta a shaft and don't really care about anything else then those are where you should be looking... Again, for me where the Crazys shine is control, I'm not just looking to spin the crap outta the ball on every shot with my wedges, on a lotta shots, sure, let err RIP, but for the most part what I look for is the ability to control the spin I put on the ball shot to shot but know that the RPMs are there if I need them, it's also important to note that the head/grooves impact spin with wedges more than the shaft in my opinion, but for me finding the right shaft has been the key to finding the control and touch I'm looking for where spin is concerned, and I found that these do a very good job of allowing me to manipulate the spin I put on the ball as well as getting enough feedback to my hands to give me an idea of how different shots and amounts of spin actually feel which I think is a big factor in consistency with wedges where alot of touch is needed and you need to play a lotta shots based on feel... Just about everything about choosing your gear is about personal preference, but I really think most people will appreciate the Crazy Steel 120 wedge shafts(slower swingers might wanna go for the 110 though), a stout profile, more feel through impact than other wedge shafts and excellent performance that's on par or (for me) better than other offerings, if your thinking about giving them a shot, I def say go for it... I'll put out a full review sometime this week for both models of the Crazy Steel iron shafts(120 and lights), I'll say a few things now for people who are thinking about getting them... The 120 isn't going to be loved by everyone, but hard hitters will enjoy it, guys with a slower SS and who don't really hit down on and through the ball should def go for the lights as I'm pretty sure the 120 will feel very boardy and harsh for guys who don't really hit through the ball with alot of acceleration through impact... The 120 def isn't an automatic type shaft, it's more of a "do it yourself" type of shaft, but if you can make it work for you the feel through impact is awesome, a VERY powerful feel through the ball and I can't really think of anything else quite like it, they play rather stiff so I would def say you should go a half flex down from most other shafts to get the most outta it... One thing that springs to mind is that people who really like the Shimada Tour will like this shaft, I'm not going to say the two shafts are all that similar, but there is just something about this shaft that screams Shimada to me, I really don't know why and I can't seem to put my finger on it, but it's just a feeling I get whenever I hit this shaft, I also think the flexes play rather close to the way the Shimada Tour flexes play... The Lights are def going to be appreciated by a much wider array of golfers and for good reason, much more of a user friendly shaft than the 120, I actually far and away prefer this shaft to any other light shaft I have tried which is pretty much everything on the market(although I really want to give the Shimada Tour Light a go and I think it will be the light shaft that gives this a run for it's money), what really stands out about these is that they play far more stable and deliver a much stronger ball flight than other lightweight shafts I have tried, yet they retain a very active lightweight feel and kick which I like... Def going to have a broad appeal, guys who fit into heavier stiffer shafts designed to launch low will like these as an easier lightweight alternative because they keep a much lower, stronger trajectory than other lightweight shafts and feel stable enough throughout the swing to handle whatever you can throw at em... And they'll appeal to the average golfer or slightly slower swinger as well who can't quite handle or doesn't like standard weight steel shafts, but wants a shaft that delivers a stronger ball flight and more stable, slightly heavier feel than other lightweight steel shafts that is still fairly easy to load and has as much activity and kick as other lightweight shafts with a smoother feel... For me personally and my game the 120 fits better, but I really do believe that the Lights are the better shaft overall and that Crazy did a really great job of blending performance and feel aspects of light and standard weight shafts with them, and I like them alot more than I was expecting to... I'm going to game a combo setup in the Miura Baby Blades, 3-5 irons shafted with the lights, and 6- PW shafted with the 120, I think these shafts will take to a combo setup perfectly... If your going to try only one of the Crazy steel shafts to start out I would def say try the wedge 120 as I think it's without a doubt the best steel shaft they have made so far... I'll post up more detailed info on the iron shafts and exactly how they feel and perform for me later this week... Hope this helps. J.

jBEAM FX BM-445 HG Driver
It's funny, as soon as I opened this thread I thought that same exact thing, that you never really hear all that much about this head, tons of dialogue about the 425 tour, and the Crazy branded/designed jBEAM heads, but very little about the 445, strange as just looking at it I would think this would be the most popular jBEAM head considering it's larger size than the 425 and slightly lower cost than the Crazys.... When I have looked at it in the past though I have always thought this head would perform similar to the Crazy 435/435II, I might be way off base, but that's just the initial impression I get from it.... Jbeam Fairway Woods?
This 3 wood is looking better and better.... It's gonna be a toss up between this and the TRC depending on how T tells me they compare to each other, regardless of which I go for I'm gonna pair it with the Crazy Sigma Noir, I think that's gonna be a monster of a shaft in an FW, more so than in a driver... Won't be bagging it all that often, the 3 metal has turned into a niche club for me, there are just too many benefits to bagging the TRC 17' ute for me to ignore and game the 3 metal day to day, but there def are occasions when I want the bit of extra yardage outta the Way of Fairness vs. The TRC, and the extra control off of the tee vs. The driver.... I'm pretty sure the 3 wood is going to be the only club I only have one of lmao... J.

Good looks, I'll give the gloves a shot, I have been with foot joy's forever, lately I haven't enjoyed the way they're fitting me and have felt bulky when I'm gripping the club... J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
Pete's Golf shop right? Assuming I'm right because he's really the only big SST pure guy around LI, Make sure you get a chance to actually speak with Pete, he's a really good guy and will make sure everything goes well, and your happy with all the work done, I would be very surprised if he gives you any greif about the NS Pros as he was the first to ever suggest I try em even before I found JDM clubs... J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
NS Pros are also gonna be more expensive in the US, I bought the set of SP Blues I have in the AF Tours from my builder and paid quite a bit more than Tario charged me... Regarding the C-Tapers vs Blues thing.... For me personally, the Blues are the better shaft, more direct, smoother, and gives me more consistent results... They have been around a while and just seem more refined, again, just my opinion... I hit the C tapers, def not a bad shaft, I prefer it alot over the original KBS Tour, does what it's meant to do, low launch, low spin without a doubt, continues the KBS tradition of being the longest shafts around, I just personally prefer the Blues and think they feel much nicer and do a better job of accomplishing the same things the C Tapers accomplish... Alot of guys love the C Tapers and prefer them to all other shafts, everyone is different, and likes different things... One thing I do know beyond any doubt though is that the Blues are heaven in the AF Tours, all shaft comparisons aside, this combo just flat out performs, feels great, and I def think you'll love it... I have NEVER heard a bad thing from anyone who has hit this combo... I agree 100 percent with the Jamnguy1, DG is by miles and miles the most gamed shaft on tour, if anyone wants to play the most used shaft on tour(any tour), than that's what they should be playing, and in my opinion it's quite silly for anyone to judge any piece of equipment based on tour usage alone... The same people saying that are the guys who get all wobbly kneed when I bring my Miura Baby Blades or AF Tours into there shops and just can't wait to ask if they can hit them, and there isn't one tour player anywhere using either of those sets of sticks... Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
Where in NY are you dodo? You could order the SP Blues from T and just have any fitter install them, tell me where you are and I can hook you up with some solid builders... J.

Grips - What Do You Like?
Nowon no.1 50 or tour G 50 for irons, Nowon no.1 50 for wedges, and ionic sticky or Tour G 50 or 70 for woods and driver.... I think the Nowon's are the tackiest grip I have ever tried and I love that, they get a little torquey on the woods though... I'm thinking of giving the Nowon Experts a go since I like the 50 so much... The Tour G grips work very well, no twisting whatsoever, i kinda consider them a "high performance" grip, for me these are like a much improved Tour Velvet which was my preferred grip for many years even though I tried everything else available state side.... Right now I'm having more trouble finding a glove I like than a grip though.... J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
It really cannot have been said any better, seriously verbatim the conversation I had with Stew a bit ago.... I cannot imagine the amount of metaphors, analogies, and crazy adjectives that I have used to describe the AF Tours since I got them, but it just comes down to one thing.... They work... They do what you need them to do... And theyre one of the few sets of irons that can adapt to do what you want them to do... Weather it's perform like a blade, or give you the smooth playability of a cavity, they just excel, not in a flashy way that stands out in any one specific area(although they do have the butter Endo feel which in my opinion stands out as being the most rewarding in golf), but in kinda a quiet way that makes you consider gaming them no matter which type of course your playing that day, or what type of conditions your playing in.... The same can be said about the Yam Tours, I have only had 2 rounds with the 2011 Yammy Tours so far, but it's very clear that they have the same type of versatile performance that I have come to love so much from the AF Tours... J.

PRGR Egg 4 Iron Rescue Utility 21*
Which design tuning shaft is this? I believe design tuning is just a special finish that comes on many different types of steel shafts, Im not 110% sure, but I'm pretty sure, if I'm right, I would like to know which specific model of shaft it is with the design tuning finish.... Also, could you give length and SW please? J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
Ya, def something to keep in mind, AF Tour lofts are super traditional and Epon keeps there short and mid iron lofts pretty constant at 4 degree intervals between clubs, alot of other manufacturers will use 3, 4, and 5 degree intervals throughout a set, I ordered all lofts 1 degree strong and that has worked out quite well for me. J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
I have had them with a higher launch shaft in them, and they're still excellent, but putting SP Blues in them makes em perfect, it's the only iron setup I have that I'll never screw around with... J.

Epon AF-Tour vs Yamaha Tour
Put SP Blues in the AF Tour and you'll fall in love with them all over again... J.

Akira Muscle Backs
For me it's that feeling of compression, where you really feel the ball mush into the face and spin off... I have hit very soft cast clubs, just as soft of forged clubs as far as when you nut it dead center, you barely feel the ball at all, which is def a nice soft feel, but without just a touch of solid or the compression feel I described to balance it, the clubs feel kinda muted... That just my personal experience with cast clubs, and while it def doesn't make them bad clubs, not at all, nor does that really effect the overall performance, it's just not as rewarding of a feel as I find with other forged options... One thing I'm really curious about is how the Akiras actually perform because people really seem to love the Akira line of woods, and if the irons perform just as well, then I would def look into a CB/MB combo set if it's possible to do..... J.

Jbeam 425 tour vs crz 435ll
Just from gaming the 425 and looking at both heads, I feel like the 425 will be the more direct of the two heads, slightly lower launch, bit more workable, but again, I haven't hit the 435 so that's just speculation... Look to Stew for a direct comparison as I know he games the jbeam 425 and has hit the Crazy(idk if he's currently gaming it, but I know he has), he hit all 3 of the Crazys actually (435, 435II, and 460) and he will def be able to give you some feedback... J.
-
Which one of these
Best thing to do would be to email T, but I'm pretty certain that Jbeam would be able to find you an 8.5 real loft in any of there driver models, I mean Crazy managed an 8.5 for me in the CRZ460 and the Jbeam heads are def more suited to the type of players who would game 8.5, so I really don't think it would be a problem.... It's really convenient when you can order an exact loft and the manufacturer will go and pick you out a head that matches the exact specs you want to the T, and to know that the specs they tell you your getting are exactly what you actually get, not just something close.... Oh, also, if the head comes in multiple finishes, don't specify a finish, just ask for a head that matches the specs you want, that's what T recommend we do with the CRZ460 and it worked out perfectly.... J.
-
Jbeam 425 tour vs crz 435ll
Jbeam 425 is one of my gamers right now, super solid head, launches low, hits the ground and runs forever, seriously, forever.... Handles unsavory conditions fantastically... Haven't hit the Crazy 435 but I hear similar things about it that I heard about the Jbeam before I picked it up.... Either one with a Crazy shaft will be awesome. J.

Akira Muscle Backs
Chris, I believe you and Tatsuro did a review on the KS201, how did they stack up to other cavities out now? Did you enjoy them? Again, the fact that they're cast is kinda a turn off for me, but I just cannot get over the shape of every iron they put out, they really seem to get it right... Possible to do a cavity/MB combo set? J.
-
Akira Muscle Backs
Came across some pictures of some new Akira MB's on the web, they look gorgeous, absolutely stunning.... I'm curious if anyone knows anything about them? Are they forged? My biggest turn off with the other Akira irons has been that they are cast, the shape and design of them is perfect, but I just get kinda hesitant with cast irons... Probably just my own personal bias coming into play, and it probably doesn't affect performance at all, but I just naturally lean towards a forged club over a cast club... But yeah, the blades look awesome and would love to know more, would also love to hear if anyone has gamed any of the Akira cavities and how they perform and feel. I would link pictures, but I'm totally computer illiterate and have no idea how.... But if you search google images for either of the two Akira cavities listed on TSG you'll get some pics of the MB's towards the top of the page. J.

Ryoma Special Tuning Hi Cor - Who is ordering?
I just can't understand why anyone would possibly care what someone else is playing, unless there is money on the line, but if not, it just seems crazy to me that anyone would care what clubs someone else chose to game.... I'm lucky, most of my mates that I play with are new to the game and wouldn't know the difference, and even if they did, they probably wouldn't care considering I usually pay for everyones round... And the few guys I play with that aren't new to the game are professionals and smoke me no matter what's in my bag, if anything though they enjoy getting to try out all of the new JDM offerings I scoop up rather than worry if they conform to regulations or not.... But I also don't play for coin regardless of who I'm playing with, so that def has alot to do with it..... J.
