  1. just give me a set in BLACK - - even Titleist have jumped on that popular trend.

  3. “We set out to design a golf club that could be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. The CB-301 takes the most innovative design elements of our traditional models and blends them with modern techniques, resulting in the longest iron we’ve ever produced.”
  4. Agree completely - and consumers are getting a bit pissed off with the great, new thing that is unveiled every year and does very little different to the driver they paid $500 for just a few months earlier. All these new tweaks they shout about - little has changed in the past 5 years according to my testing of the Callaway and TM offerings. Even the wonderland of PXG hasn't been able to shift the needle much when it comes to drivers. Until a company can produce a driver that feels great (subjective of course) - sounds good - and doesn't hook or slice the ball....we will just have to put up with the bulls**t bling. Is such a driver even possible ?? And is that taking too much skill out of the game ? In 50 years people will probably be playing most of the golf on indoor simulators and big hooks or slices will not lose your 'ball' anyway.
  5. both the new TM and Callaway picking up mixed reviews so far on the main websites that are considered the better testers. And most saying the extra money to upgrade on the previous models would be a tough decision. As always, it's a totally subjective thing. Meanwhile, Callaway has really released the flood gates on new stuff - 3 updated balls, newer irons plus the Epic 'woods'.
  6. just in case you want to see what Callaway are now releasing in the western world.... https://mygolfspy.com/2019-callaway-epic-flash-epic-flash-subzero-driver/
  7. luv my XXIO .... no adjustability.
  8. ...and of course there are new TM balls to go with the clubs. They keep coming up with NEW technologies to entice people to switch from their perfectly good gear to the latest and best - but is there really much difference???

  10. we can expect news on several new drivers this week - PXG has just released info on their new offerings which have surprisingly gone down in price..... and TM releases their next generation M5 and 6 tomorrow..... and then we have Callaway also. These are all USA-based of course.
  11. I'm going to stop nudging my marker 4 inches closer to the hole - I'm going to stop kicking my ball into a better lie - I'm going to stop racing ahead of my playing partners to ensure I have a perfect lie - I'm going to stop giving myself 3 footers - I'm going to stop taking mulligans on each hole - I'm going to stop pretending to be an 18-handicapper for comps when i'm actually a 5.
  12. I much prefer the genuine Japanese products for the clear quality edge over anything else, but one thing you get in the States is a chance to try your purchase and return it for a full store credit if you don't like it. I recently bought a driver at the PGA Superstore, tried it for a few weeks, didn't fall in love with it and took it back.... switched to the new Srixon and found it quite good. I'd prefer to be doing all of this in Japan - but I'm not in that country and so I take advantage of the PGA store policy.
  13. I've bought over $50,000 of Japanese equipment over many years and my experience tells me I'm a lot safer buying irons sight unseen than a driver. One thing with drivers is I've struck many that were supposedly STIFF shafted....and of course the Japan idea of stiff and the US is a million miles apart with many shafts. One recent driver coming with the factory stiff was so whippy it almost wrapped around my ears. But getting your right shaft is something we all know about. Anyway - it's all very subjective. Many people love the Ryoma drivers and I don't. But I love the Ryoma UT clubs. And throwing money at the project doesn't guarantee success either - I've got two Sevendreamers shafts that cost an arm and a leg and hate them. They are doing a good job with my tomatoes though. Meanwhile, for that it's worth, just purchased the Ping i210 irons and these are proving a real hit with me. Lots of new stuff about to hit the stores from the big American companies - much of it will be on show at the PGA show in Florida in the coming weeks. Doesn't mean it's what we need, but it will no doubt be fun to look at.
  14. splashing out a grand or more on a sight-unseen weapon will lead to tears more often than not...

I agree - was one of the easiest drivers to hit I've tried and I've tried dozens. I'm trying to buy one for my dad. The only issue with these drivers is you cannot re-shaft them. Any heat applied to remove a shaft does too much damage and club makers simply tell you to forget about it.

these are getting a bit dated now but if anyone has one of these for sale - in good condition - please let me know.
  17. yes, all due respect to our beloved reviewer - and we do love him - it just needs anyone who has hit the club to spend 10mins and give us a quick idea if this thing is any good or not. If you want to go into more depth with photos etc - do that later. Meanwhile, we are all needing some practical info that might sway us either way with this bad boy.
  18. yeah I need mine yesterday - have not bought a driver this month!!!!!
  19. We can see new stuff from PRGR in the shop - mostly driver heads - and will be interesting to read about their technology...... no doubt offering us new drivers that go further and straighter then ever before. The 'basic' translation sure needs to be explained better.
  20. has the tester been abducted by aliens ? Send me one and I'll review it ASAP.
  21. yes a review is overdue....I need to know if this will be the 27th driver in my collection!!

just tried the driver and it feels good - hits it long as promised, but I'd not recommend to players who draw the ball. This driver has quite a closed face, almost off-set, and it is a true slice-fighter. I generally fade the ball and found that more difficult to achieve with this driver. But there are a lot of players who fight the right-hand side of the course -- so this is well worth trying for you people. I tried both the stock shaft and also the newest UST in a stiff at 65g, which was firmer than the stock offering and helped with control.
  23. the 2 new offerings coming from Titleist?
