13.5 degree 2013 TourStage X-FW w/ Tour AD GT-7
Played again today and thanks to this club I'm able to hit Par 5's in two on a more frequent basis than before. It's for sure longer than anything else i've tried in some time, I just wish it were a little more shallow and forgiving.

Tourstage 709mc/CB comparisons?
Yes along the lines of the 705M I would say. It's just a bit different is subtle shaping and a little more but I think they are be similar in most ways. Stew I think the 909MB is softer than previous blades from TourStage or that could just be in my head but its for sure softer than the MC and maybe even the CB. Your right about the clicky I could get used to it.

What do you guys think of the new Fourteen FH1000?
Blades are making a come back in Japan and at TSG we're very happy about that. One of the sexiest blades at the 2013 Japan Golf Fair was the FH1000 by Fourteen Golf. It was sorta hidden behind a wall at the Fourteen booth. We finally have a successor to the TB-1000 of years back. These are not cast like the TB model was this new FH1000 is forged of S25C with fairly traditional lofts with the 5 iron at 27* and PW at 47*. This is Fourteens new "Tour Model" something they plan on encouraging their professionals to use and like the RM12 wedges it has the same reverse muscle back design which is supposed to improve accuracy according to Fourteen. The center of gravity was placed to make long iron shots low spin and short iron shots higher spin and lastly it's beautiful shape. Wedges from the PGA & JPGA Tours along with extra shots from the Japan Golf Fair.

Looking for 3 wood suggestions
I think we have similar taste in FWs Ryoma F3 w/ Crazy FW80 has captured my heart lately mostly for how forgiving, straight and long she is. Much credit goes to the shaft. However and Tario can confirm this the S-Yard XT are just stupid easy to hit, soft spongy metallic and very long. It has a shallow face as well. I'll ask T to take some pics if he hasn't already. Yamaha Z may fit the bill as well. I haven't hit it yet but on paper it seems to have a lot of what your looking for. George Spirits Mono 3D are finally released end of April, I have a prototype now and its rediculous, looks player but gets up easily. Not sure if you hit the old Gauge JPN FW woods, they were awesome. RomaRo Type-R this is definitely worth considering when it comes out as well. Psst... there are new eggs coming out next month too....

Putter Selection... Does It Matter?
I do something similar stew, Neo, Anser, Center Shaft mallet the one who behaves gets to go out on a date. I've had a very hard time with L putters and have been told its my back and fourth stroke leaving the face open thats why CS is a big help to me. Currently RomaRo Barque CS, not the prettiest thing but it's been curing me of many 3 putt a round. I also really suggest for everyone to have their putters lie and loft adjusted to make sure your putter is near parallel to the ground and your hitting it where you want on the face and also loft because its just such a big deal, based on our strokes some people can get great roll while others bad roll from the very same putter. It's not the putter many times it's the specs.

13.5 degree 2013 TourStage X-FW w/ Tour AD GT-7
Here's another new fairway wood that just arrived a few weeks ago at TSG, the new 2013 TourStage X-FW in 13.5* loft attached to the upgrade Graphite Design Tour AD GT-7 Stiff flex shaft. I'm only 2 rounds into it and already know it's not going to be my gamer although I sure wish I had the game for it because it's really something else. What can I say it's X-SERIES... that means it will be for the faster swinging better ball striking golfer especially in 13.5*. Bridgestone actually trademarked a new material used in the manufacturing of this fairway wood called "Ultimate Strong Metal" Yes I know very cheesy Japanesey but its supposed to be able to maintain very high energy transfer, its thin and light but also very durable. The reason why I said I couldn't game this was purely my game, I don't have the ball striking skills to hit this with full confidence. I know a lot of golfers that absolutely could and I wouldn't hesitate suggesting this as one of their options. I hit two par 5's in 2 in a single day which is a rarity for me and oddly after i hit poor drives. This could be that life saver if you find yourself in a position having to carry a revine or arroyo or perhaps needing play it safe hitting a long tight accurate club from the tee box. How about the new GT-7 by Graphite Design in this club? I like this shaft a lot it for me produced a mid-high launch with not very much spin noticed. I like the 70 gram range shafts in my FW's as one of my biggest problems is hitting FW's left or right even much more so than my driver. So it's been the CRAZY FW80 thats cured that and it appears this shaft does something similar in the heavier weights. It has a very nice setup when looking down at it. I personally would prefer a slightly more shallow face but being a 13.5 they needed to not only keep the trajectory low but also make sure the slightest mis**t high on the face wouldn't produce a tragic result.

Tourstage 709mc/CB comparisons?
Sorry G, Yes Mr. D picked up the 709 MC, he's always a pleasure to deal with. Sorry these pics aren't side by side. Below pictures of the 709 CB & MC in a similar angle. As you can see neither of them have an undercut and the major difference is in the amount of mass placed lower on the club face. This mass promotes forgiveness and a little higher ball flight. Comparing the shape of the face between the two irons the MC is taller while the CB shorter and the reason for this is to keep the CG low on the CB and higher on the MC. From heel to toe the CB is longer making for a larger hitting surface in general both are shaped aggressively in between boxy and round. TourStage just about always shapes their irons angles better than most. Again these photos were not taken from the same distance but I think the images give you a good idea of what to expect. The CB from this angle looks simply like a bigger version of the MC. It's got near perfect trailing edge relief along with an attractive leading edge grind. The CB is designed to be a good sized and forgiving sole while playing as close to possible as the MC which indeed is what I think is the perfect looking sole. Whatever the case both these irons leave a really sexy foot print no doubt. From above you can see more of the same, TourStage found their ideal shape for the better player then did their best to translate that setup to a more forgiving model the 709CB. These are both X-Blade series clubs so don't expect anything too forgiving. There is a more offset, a thicker topline, and more of a presence to the CB but it is in no way big. I think it's a hair smaller than medium. Not many have hit them both. I have but only #6 and PW. The CB feels a bit softer thanks to its mass i believe very good just a little bit firmer than the latest ONOFF forged. The MC is very blade like everyone will gawk at them especially the better player. Expect only compliments but also expect blade like performance and that includes forgivness. I managed to hit a few really good shots with the MC and it does have a very nice feel when hit center but it also does have a dark side when struck toe & heel. For me, The CB would be the proper choice for my game. The MC would be my emotional decision because I crave for a forgiving iron that looks just like that.

2013 Crazy 9012 Denim Caddy Bag
Rarely do we write up a blog post about a single golf bag but this time we felt this particular one was something special. It's a bit flashy and designer it feels as if a luxury hand bag could have built this and It's called the Crazy 9012 Caddy Bag and she's a stunner. It's made of cotton denim with what I believe to be is vinyl, looks like leather. Everything is made top notch and there are a lot of little extras like silver bits and pieces, It also comes with a bottle holder. One thing you must mind is if it's damp or even dry and rubbing up against something white like many jeans it could bleed.

New Cameron Sonoma Modified by Gold's Factory
Every so often we send in a batch of new putters to have modified by Master Sasaya of Gold's Factory. TSG is always talking about Gold's because they really are a one of a kind company. Totally unique and you know what you will get when having anything touched by the master... Excellence, a level of quality so high and an attention to detail so critical you would expect the best. In the TSG Online Store we will begin offering some tasteful designs on a more regular basis, The first 4 putters to be released will be 3 unique new model Scotty Cameron Sonoma's and a Japan Only Odyssey Tour iX Black Series #2. They do cost a pretty penny but with this level of quality one can expect that. Below pictures of my favorite of the 3 Sonoma's. Each Sonoma has a different finish and color scheme, this one in Teflon Black and replaced the scotty circles with yellow ARC reactors by Gold's Factory.. The tilted old school mini G is milled into the nose. The two weights on the sole have been increased now 15g each instead of 10g. A new Shimada stepless shaft installed and spined attached to a matching yellow GF grip. Finally and the most unique modification to this putter is that it's center shaft. There are no center shaft Sonoma's in the wild. Especially ones that have been balanced perfectly to perform better than stock. Next up Soft Black Finish: Finally Bead Blast Finish:

S-Yard T.388-which shaft?
I'm playing a 388 with stock stiff shaft 9.5, I have a BB stiff in a GS driver as well. This should fly a little bit higher than the BB and feel a bit softer as well. I feel like the stock stiff would be softer than the BB in stiff. How long have you been hitting it? I notice lower spin, straight shots with plenty of roll with the T388.

Tokyo Golf shops
Craig sounds like you had a blast! Stew knows where it's all at. Including food! Next time tell us when you in town we could have setup crazy or even a visit to the SYD show room in Ginza where you would have been able to see....;) We're looking at possibly accepting trade ins in the near future, we've worked with golf partner for years trying to do just as you mentioned unfortunately there's no room in their pricing as after the seller makes money it's getting too close to buying brand new unless its an older product or in not so great condition plus those older models are already abundant on eBay. Sometimes our BST is priced lower than walking into a used golf shop in Japan. For a lot of these chain stores corporate takes a cut then the franchisee must before it goes out. Then the issue of keeping a database updated with current stock...

2013 Yamaha inpress X Wedge
It was only recently that Yamaha wedges really captured my eye, only since the last model was I a fan. Not sure why as I've always known they make amazing product from driver to wedge. What I remember of the 2012 Yamaha Inpress Wedge is that it had a more narrow sole than appeared, It felt nice soft pure S20C, It also had better than average spin while looking totally modern. This years wedge is very different in style being much more traditional and I love the stamping it's simple, clean and most importantly this wedge also performs. I'm two range sessions and 2 rounds into a 56* and It plays flawlessly, a near perfect wedge doing everything its predecessor did in a much more classy appearance. By the way my gamers are CRAZY Toyoshima's which I Love to pieces and they aren't better than these nor worse just perfection both of them equally really. I couldn't choose and while there are so many amazing wedges out right now somehow we must have the courage to pick just one, two, three or four... For those of you who have hit the JDM only Vokey's picture that but a hair smaller. Both rounds with these wedges my game went along better than usual. Ordered stock with Modus 3's the Yamaha Inpres X Wedge really shines in all areas. Let's start with Forgiveness, It's a bit larger than my Toyoshimas yet smaller than Forged Vokeys, even my poorly struck shots reacted appropriately, out of bunkers this wedge was very easy to hit, It's versatile grind reminds me of the ONOFF S-Forged wedge and my Toyoshimas. I think any player from Pro to 15 handicap could meld into the Inpres X easily. I really do believe the way Endo does intricate milling on the faces of wedges actually works. We see many top brands doing it, not all but many. S-Yards new BOLD, the ONOFF Forged irons, along with other Yamaha irons. On the golf course I got the feeling these spin as well as wedges with non conforming grooves. From above the setup inspires confidence as well I would consider it compact but not small. If you like the way it looks I suggest you pick one up. It's all what they are cracked up to be and I'm a little surprised more Yamaha fans have not adopted these awesome awesome stix.

SF was good, LA in the beginning wasn't so bad either. LA today is bad. I think the U.S customs dept is severely understaffed.

Epon AF-302 vs. PRGR TR500
Yes this post is back from 2010 when the two hot irons were the TR500 & AF302. Not sure if you guys noticed but we unarchived nearly 5 years of posts back into the TSG forum. Yes for 2013 PRGR has the iD Nabla Black. It's arguably the most advanced Forged CB on the market. Check out below it's got 2 different vibration absorbing materials and whats even cooler is they decided to put it into a players CB where as Epon used it in a mid sized cavity. I'm excited to see how this works out in a smaller head. It's progressive CG location and design allows you to get a higher easier shot 3-5 while 6-8 gain accuracy yet have a blended and more muted feel while 9-PW is creamy forged S20C goodness. I'll bring in a demo set to give a whirl. compared to the TR500 I'm going to guess the new iD Nabla Black Forged is slightly bigger making it probably similar in size to the 302.

Gold's Factory M.A.C.: Meister Absolute Crafting one of a kind Putters
Most brands do wish it made sense for them to own a foundry & milling center, even the big ones. Not many do especially when it comes to boutique brands like Golds. Kitada has done more than you think guys. Most of us here on TSG have had some sort of Kitada made product in the bag before.
