Keep me up to speed on the latest steel shafts!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Darn! ordered both the VG3's and Personals with KBS Tour. Personals arrived already but VG3's maybe I can switch.:( I noticed no one is mentioning the KBS Tours, no love? I hit them it was a bit numb but accurate and short irons landed nicely for me. -
Anywhere in Tokyo-Osaka to try OnOff?
TourSpecGolfer replied to lousifers's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Ive hit both, the reds are for sure easier to hit and should be the better design for a 28 but the issue is they dont feel as good as the many forged models. Im thinking the new PRGR EGG Forged is a good fit if yiu dont mind minimal offset. Its got a thick topline and variable sole design, lots of tech. 6-pw and a bunch of woods may be a good route. -
Nope not out yet, Im waiting impaitently for my custom set to arrive soon.

I understand 100%. It's very visual and mental for myself as well.

Expect the OnOff Forged II coming in November -
I'm curious why 440cc is your requirement. 10-20cc doesnt make much of a difference visually and is sometimes hidden.

the big kahoonas .............., driver length

The one that reminds us of the KPX is the K109 by Akira. For tats it was the K109 for me I like the M209. Have you seen these? I think one thing we all need to remember is that Stew is a power hitter. ( there should be a disclaimer in his signature that says he's a bomber! ) Of course we all get different results. If you swing 100mph and your go with a KPX w/ Diamana X or Sigma 9.5 you better be ready for some major dissapointment. For me at 101ish. It was a fade machine with better than average spin. None of our TSG testers swing like you Stew thats prob why we don't always agree on club selection. -
Mines arrive this weekend but I will be in Texas. Speaking of the ZERO, It's actually not that bad. I took it out and my playing partner had the old US Spec 300 Tour by TM. We spent 18 holes comparing the two and the ZERO was more forgiving with less spin. I guess we are getting spoiled with uber forgiving clubs now days. I slapped in a DJ6 and although it's not long like my Ryoma its a fairway finder and has actually helped hone in my accuracy.

Straight Grips are pretty cool also. They don't taper.

I guess I'm behind the times on steel shafts so I have to refer to Mr. Stew & Spoon as well as the others on this board. I have a bunch of new irons coming in soon. Epon Personals, VG3's, Crazys etc.. I've been playing the basic NS shafts from 950, 1050, and 1150. I prefer the feel of the 950 but the weight of the 1150. The C-Tapers by KBS don't land well for me, they come in a little too hot. The KBS Tours, how are they? I like softer shafts with great feel. No telephone poles please. -
Where you finding all these Gorillas in Japan? Your crew must stick out like a sore thumb!

I've got a 510TP with a 757 that I took out a couple months ago. Its dispersion is perfect the distance was average. Fujikura has really gone downhill in the last few years. They took their eye of the enthusiast and went after OEM sales, then many new brands joined the party and Fuji is hesitant to use high grade carbon. A shaft maker can only rely on design and graphics for so long while everyone is utilizing high end materials + design + style. Then there was the earthquake/tsunami. The factory was in the radiation zone and that must have really slowed them down.

Best players forged cavity back set - 2008 season
TourSpecGolfer replied to ClubHoUno's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
haha sorry! I'm shutting this one down. -
I actually didn't like the Ryoma first time I hit it with the stock shaft. 3 rounds in I was able to dial it in and steady the whip. I'm finding I need break in time with all my drivers so I don't really comment until I have a few rounds under my belt with anything.

Sorry Stew, to my group here in Vegas the KPX isn't anything special we have 2 right now one with a DJ6 & one with a CB50 in it. We pretty much were intrigued by your posts and brought them in. You get us excited often. below average forgiveness Nice spin rates but more than the Jbeam 425 Tour. average distance average feel Were not sure if we would put this in our top 10. I'm playing to a 12 right now and our other testers are both 0/1. Have you tried the new/old Akira models. The KPX reminds me of them. -
Also your using a VSpec those have a more firm feel than the non V version. And to dodo's question Ryoma much much more forgiving. Yes both have conforming and non conforming versions avail.

It's an open model head. You can get the same thing from Geotech for much much less.

TourSpecGolfer replied to Z3RO's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yup LY01 then the BangVoo. -
I don't play this style of putter ever but getting one anyway. That hammered look really strikes me.. no pun intended..;o) I guess that means only 6 left.
-
Ordered me some 2012 VG3 Irons + Vokey Wedges w/ KBS shafts. They aren't released yet so I will be waiting a while.

No we are taking over the UK. Just drop tario a PM.
-
I've tried both. I would say go with the Epon's and yes through TSG we will beat the price of your UK dealer on all three brands as well as provide options no one else can offer. Yururi's are great and very styling but have more boxy lines and sharper edges.
