  1. Coming this month to the TSG Pro Shop the all new Miura Giken Passing Point PP-9005 Forged Cavity Irons, labelled NEO this time it's a big departure from how Miura irons have been made in the past, This is the first multipiece design I can remember from Miura that has a Forged S25C body that is separate from the face which is a J.I.S SUP-10 Steel. The PP-9005 also comes with a deep undercut cavity lowering the center of gravity and also allowing Miura to gain more head size without gaining as much head weight which equals the more forgiving Miura everyone has been asking for. Miura Giken also has a new finish that uses a separate surface treatment called Accurise Coat which is supposed to reduce friction during turf contact. On top of this they also feature a full copper underlayer for an even softer feel. While this undercut/badge/2 piece iron is new to Miura it also brings in a more modern look like the inside of the cavity which features a carbon style badge that gives it some extra edgeyness but at the same time that comes off looking a little cheap to some.. what has remained is Miura's commitment to minimal offset, a beautiful shape, geared toward the better player and in in the case of the new Passing Point Neo PP-9005 that is no different. In hand photos are and course reviews are just a week or two away.
  2. I have all three versions and I'm confused. I will post pics
  3. 2 Days until the 20% OFF ends! Coupon Code: Yururi20
  4. Edited: I had it backwards it was you buying him too many beers.
  5. There is a fun story of a tall loud and handsome Aussie that randomly met the owner of Yururi Miyoshi-san. This Aussie then kept feeding Miyoshi-san beers until he was ready to fold... I wonder who that guy was?
  6. A-Grind is releasing a new 440cc players wood it comes standard with open face and a forged cup face. They are producing light and heavy weight versions and speaking with Ako-san he has confirmed it's much more forgiving and softer than the A-Grind Classic Driver.
  7. So a lot of people think Raw equals softer which is not always the case. It depends on who did the satin finish as they vary in qualities like feel and durability and look. I have tested identical wedges from Seven and other brands in many finishes and raw is not the only or even the biggest determining factor in feel. Hit the new Gekku smooth satin vs the original gekku and you will see the satin is actually softer, gekku is soft but just different. with wedges softest is not always the best as when we test spin rates there is a fine balance of firmness for spin and softness to allow the material to grab the ball.. difference is minimal in rpms but there is one. I think Cforselius is also considering the gekku's due to the Grain look which is a major appeal to the gekku.
  8. So Modart vs A-Grind... Having had both with for quite some time in the same loft 14* I'm comfortable with these observations. The Modart has a firmer tink feel while the A-Grind is softer more spongy metal. Distance the two are equals Forgiveness, what is strange is for me the Modart goes straighter on the same miss-hits. Trajectory is the A-Grind is higher I would say mid/high while the modart is more mid, this is interesting as well because the Modart has the more shallow face. Gotta add turf interaction I give this to the modart as well both the FW and UT make clean contact unlike any other woods i've seen. appearance, A-Grind's shape, size and matte crown are perfect while the Modart is still sexy and more compact than the AG I give it to the AG on appearance but only by a slight margin if the Modart were matte not sure if this would still be the case. For feel, looks, and trajectory I go A-Grind For ease of use, size, dispersion I go Modart Best for my score & what gives me confidence is without a doubt Modart + FW80.
  9. Yup there are tons of players who like raw wedges and some even like raw irons, it does help spin somewhat when it gets wet as does micro milling but it can also hinder spin if not taken care of by filling the grooves so clean your grooves out every so often, oil them and beat the heck out of them I feel almost free when I'm using a raw wedge to give them that worn character where as with satin finish the smallest mark bothers me.
  10. It's been less than a year since A-GRIND has opened its doors to the public originally they were only found via the Tour Service on the Japan PGA Tour and they were not for sale given away by Ako-san who is part owner and designer of the company not to mention the lead designer for royal collection for more than a decade. The connection with RC is apparent in this Fairway Wood, Royal Collections most successful products were it's fairway woods and now that Ako-san has left and started his own company the DNA of the design has gone with him. In this blog post I share my long term thoughts on the A-Grind Fairway Woods. First I have to say Pardon the gap between the neck and the ferrule, this is a brand new head in the photos not epoxied to any shaft which is why you see the gap, I simply stuck a shaft in there to take these pics. My gamer which is a 14* that I've had for many months is beaten up pretty badly it's been borrowed by others shafted and re-shafted again and brutalized even with sky marks so we preferred to use this new head for these shots. So yes pardon that gap. The above image shows what could be one of the most beautiful fairway wood faces I've ever seen. Ako-san only had the option and funding to make 1 new model fairway and for those that follow RC has had many over the years so Ako-san's goal was to take the best of the more than a decade worth of RC woods and combine them into what he considers the ultimate players wood. It's not deep it's not shallow it's juuuust right! I'm playing mine at 43" with the brand new Crazy FW80 "Regenesis" and let me tell you this wood/shaft combo is a sleeper. Originally I had the normal FW80 installed and that is my all time favorite FW shaft it's heavy and stable with a tight dispersion so when the new FW80 regenesis arrived prior to any specs being released I had to try it and to my surprise the shaft was very different yet shared some of the originals most positive qualities. The new regenesis is 3 grams lighter in the same flex as the original, it's got a smoother feel with a softer butt section and a more powerful kick yet it maintains that straight trajectory and it's still made of full-length 80T made by the Crazy Factory in Adachi. The 80T in a fairway shaft really stablizes the dispersion and while the original was for sure a mid trajectory the new regenesis is a mid/high launch which is what you want in a fairway wood. They make 4 different lofts 14/15/18/21 both 3 woods are 160cc's while the 5 is 145cc and the 7 the smallest at 135cc's each with a matte black crown. The face angles are all 1* open . The feel off the face is spongy metallic as it's made with a 455 stainless steel it has a shallow center of gravity with more weight placed forward all of these are specifications geared toward the better player but don't let that scare you if you are a mid capper as I found the face profile to get the ball up in the air easier than most, it's just when it is in the air it will not balloon on you. I didn't find distance to be as long as some of the Neo FW's out there ya know those bigger oddly shaped designs but that is not what this is going for, it's designed around feel, workability, and its stunning looks don't get me wrong it's long the ball pops off the face with intention. Forgiveness is extremely good considering how compact these are and the ball flight is very stable with less spin due to it's forward CG. I play square to 0.5 closed on the driver but for fairways and UT's I prefer an open face angle. I would say naturally this head produces a mid-trajectory so pairing it with a higher launching shaft can squeeze out more yards if thats what your looking for. For me with the softer profile of the new FW80 regenesis it's a match made in heaven. Other than RC woods it's hard to compare this to anything else, they are smaller heads, they have the semi sharp angles in the face profile, they are not deep nor shallow and with the removal of mass in the back of the sole it means less weight back there which keeps spin down and your shots straight, these are not all that expensive either so head on over to the TSG Pro Shop to check it out. Suggested builds, I would say the new FW80 & CB50 or best to consider as well as TRPX's Red Hot FW Shafts between those you should be covered.
  11. I will ask Jbeam & TRPX for you but keep in mind 10g added anywhere on the head changes the design and usually not for the better. Similar thing goes on with shaft adapters which are about 9g and OEMs need to change the heads design to accommodate that much weight in that particular area.
  12. 435 Black Out has nearly identical distance to ZY-11 if you don't like foamed.
  13. There is such a difference in feel between the two finishes, feels like a performance difference as well I personally love the raw look but in smooth satin they seem to just slide through turf more easily and I would say with a plating its more soft feeling than the raw gekku. There is a difference in spin vs non-conforming version but still these spin better than most for conforming grooves.
  14. T-MB is about 1+ clubs longer than most as well. Distance wise it's a toss up as the T-MB is based on utilities the 712U with its hollow stainless structure.
  15. This is essentially the same thing just in a different finish. both are conforming, only the original is not. The positive on the raw grain is spin is a little more The positive on the smooth satin is it slides through turf and digs less just due to rounded smooth surfaces.
  16. 1250 3-PW and there is a 20% coupon going on right now Yes identical Yururi has quite a few great CB's already.
  17. The last Kasco I hit was the Power Tornado 7 and it was easy to hit feel was average, look was a bit gaudy. The big super hyten taro is interesting as it's a driver that uses maraging steel and sus which is something you see more in a fairway wood. very bright and colorful I'm curious how well they perform. I'm personally not a big fan of the looks.
  18. Soft Black w/ custom paint fill
  19. But hitting the driver is one of the best parts of the game!? nah but if ball striking is good a bigger or semi deep fariway is great off the tee. I think the F2 fits that bill with a nice high launching FW shaft. Baldo Brassy with a light short higher launching shaft? Maruman Shuttle has a low lofter.
  20. Indeed these are simply a cool new finish with a different stamping.
  21. They are confirming grooves so they spin like the yururi tour conforming and Tataki original.
  22. From now until June 7th 20% off all Yururi in the ProShop Coupon Code : Yururi20 Similar to a plated iron, somewhat like Zodia irons do which do handle well. Nope just Tataki logo & Forged.
