PIC of lehman grind and retail comparison!
FINALLY. Somebody put a lid on all the Tour Grind bla bla. Thanks Joe. You did a lot of people a huge favour and put some greedy slime buckets in their place. If somebody is willing to pay the price for true tour grind clubs ... so be it. To each is own. But for some people to hype up their overpriced, used tour stuff with words like "the real deal will lower your handicap" or "huge difference from retail or whatever clubs" as we all had to listen to in the past, is borderline fraud in my opinion. Yes, the Lehman Box Toe Grinds are tour grinds but in my opinion they certainly don't justify the kind of money some greedy individuals are demanding. Thanks Joe. haribo

haribo replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI would not expect to see any out of the northern hacker either . He is way too nice a person to pull any of that crap . Just like the rest of us up here  :) Good name for him Northern Hack - I like it. Other than the one tourney he won this year that is exactly what he is  C'mon. Just because Mike Weir missed the cut and it happened to happen on Good Friday ... doesn't mean you can crucify him  Haribo

What's more beneficial- fitted clubs or Tour
Well, I did both. My Teaching Pro is also my clubmaker. So, he knows what's right for me. I bought the irons I wanted (Firesole Forged) heads only and he set them up to my specs. (Guess, that's what you call blueprinting) Did the same with my TM510 tour issue head. Got it head only straight from the TM tour department. Which means the head wasn't tweaked at all to match some Pro's game. That gave me the opportunity to make it work for me easily. haribo

Aldila NVS for Fairway woods... Tour Only til summer...
Sam, Hope you didn't get my post the wrong way. Didn't mean to offend you. Was just poking fun at you for your "reversed ho, coming out of the closet" behaviour. You know, I'm not a ho but I got to tell the entire online world how much I love these shafts ... oh, and look all my clubs got them installed ... what a coincidence since I'm really not a ho. Btw, do you know when an alcoholic realizes he's an alcoholic??? When he stops drinking!!!!! Put yourself on a nv-diet and you'll know what I mean. haribo

Sam, I noticed you posted this on three different equipment forums. Just wondering ... do you like this shaft that much or are you working now part time for Aldila???? haribo

haribo replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearHere's a short cut ... Monte Christo #3 or Cohiba (forgot the name, it's the long skinny one, not the Castro, though). Robusto is nice too. haribo Yeah I think I order some of them to . Have tried the MonteCristo and really liked the , but just for a change am trying about 4 different brands and will more then likely settle in on a mix of Monte's . Mike The Cohiba I like the most (the one which name I couldn't think of earlier) is called Lanceros. You got to try it!!!! haribo

opinions about the TM Lehman grinds or 300 tour irons?
IMHO, if one pays $200 or $2000 for a set it doesn't matter. Neither one will make one a better player. Unless the person is willing to put the practise time in that's needed. It's absolute BS to say that 2G's irons will help you shave 3 strokes of your handicap. That's the kind of hype that I got so tired of listening to on the web. Btw, ever noticed (doesn't matter what forum you're on) that everytime clubs like these getting hyped up, somebody coincidentely is putting up a set for sale in the B/S/T folder... Bottomline is, one should get the right clubs. Clubs need to appeal to the eyes and the wallet. To each its own. We can expect them to be the right tools to play golf with. But no one should expect miracles from any set of clubs. On another note, if you're looking for excellent tour clubs, see if you can get Firesole Forged's. They might be harder and harder to get but they don't cost an arm and a leg. (see, that demand justification thing doesn't work all the time) haribo

Who is playing Scratch?
Do they still make the FCM stepped shafts? If yes were can you get them? Thanks and sorry for the hijacking Yes, you can still get them on special order. Problem with Scratch is they need taper tipped one's. Apparently these are only available from the Royal Precision Tour Department as Ari told me. Luckily he has access. To both our surprise we learned the reason for that is it's a much liked choice for wedges by the Pro's. I always new it's a great shaft for wedges, particular since I play Rifle in my irons. Just thought I'm the only one who thinks like that .... surprise, surprise :D haribo

Who is playing Scratch?
Still waiting for mine. Ari hasn't received the shafts yet (FCM stepped). Ordered 54* + 58*, antique finish with silver paint fill. Ari can tell you more about the grinds then I can. haribo

580 Tour VS 540Df
Moses, As i said already, if it works for you great. Btw, with that I don't mean just distance. Who gives a damn if a driver is 10 yards longer when you can't keep it in the fairway. The reason I like the 510 tour issue is simple. It's square faced and with it's 350cc not too huge in size. Not totally crazy about those toasters on a stick. I might try a 400cc head one day but that's about as big as it will get for me. Frankly, if I would like the looks of the 983's I probably would play them. haribo

580 Tour VS 540Df
I didn't mean it's a bad club just because you know who is selling it. Great if the club works for you. Nothing wrong with that. I only meant to say that there's a lot of hype around everything tour and new from TM. But frankly, most of the tour issues are good and one doesn't need to spend big bucks every time. Plus with the release of the next best thing (r7 is already around the corner) the prices will take a dive anyway. Not a good investment in my opinion. (I'd rather go for high end fuji's ;) I believe if you got a tour club from TM that you like stick with it. I doubt there's too much of a diff anyways unless of course you need more forgiveness. But most people buy into the hype of the next new magic wand. You seem to have the money to throw towards TM. So, enjoy the club until you have the urge to buy a r7 tour issue .... haribo

580 Tour VS 540Df
The second link takes you to one of Bighitter's auctions. That would be enough reason for me not to bid on it. Even if it's slightly cheaper than the xd version. Btw, I play a 510 tour issue, the 350cc one. Very underrated but nevertheless one of the best drivers I've ever played. I'm happy with it and don't need to spend more money on bigger and better clubs anyway. haribo
-
580 Tour VS 540Df
Both are 400cc big, both are exceptional good clubheads, the 540xd is overhyped and expensive, while the 580 tour is now available for little money. What it comes down to is are you willing to pay for hype? If you'd ask me I'd take the 580 tour anyday over the xd. JMHO, haribo

Srixon UR-X Ball
As of now I don't spin the crap out of a ball. At least not all the time. Well, that might change with the arrival of my new Scratch wedges... In any case, I'm intrigued enough to give the URX a try when we finally can play here. In the meantime if anybody has some updates on the diff between the URX and the HX Tour, I would apppreciate it. As always! Thanks, haribo

Srixon UR-X Ball
Thanks. That sounds very interesting. So, the HRX is gonna be even longer, less spin and more of a drop and stop ball. How will it compare to the HX Tour????? I never really liked the Pro V1X. Yes, I gained about 10 yards with the driver but my irons went not as far anymore. My swingspeed is right at the border but not exactly where it needs to be for this ball. The Pro V1 is the better choice for me. That's why I'm very interested in balls like the HX Tour or the UR-X or the new HRX. Well, considering that the UR-X just got released here it will probably take longer than mid-April before I can find out for myself what I think of the HRX ... haribo

Srixon UR-X Ball
Regarding the new prototype ball, I emailed Srixon. Here's their answer: "The new ball will be called HRX-333. It has a higher compression than the URX with the same dimple pattern at the AD333. Over all it produces less spin." haribo
