Thanks for the info on your Drev! As for the AD Pros I'm happy to hear that you like the performance, but I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the finish... I've seen them after a bit of use with no issues, so I'm surprised. You could always take some pics of the bag set up that you are using, pics of the shafts, and forward them along to Graphite Design. I've found their customer service to be quite good. I'm not sure what they could do, I'm sure they would appreciate hearing your concerns. I've also used the regular AD iron shafts, no issues with those, and I've seen more than a few GD Tour AD driver shafts where the head looked beat to you know where, but I didn't notice any big blemishes on the shafts.

Thanks for the quick review Ben... I haven't tried a Machline or DREV yet, but I might have to pick one up. Which model did you go with? On a sidenote, how are the AD Pros working out in your Srixons?
  3. A friend ran accross an X-Drive with a Roddio WA, and wanted to know if I was interested in comparing it to the Tour AD Quattro Tech. Anyone here with a smooth transition but reasonably high swing speed (47~48+ m/s) have luck with the WA vs the BA or Quattro? The fitter I worked with said I would probably loose the BA left, so I'm a bit hesistant to go with the the BA now... booh. I'm kind of curious about the WA though and would like to compare it to the Quattro Tech, but I don't want my friend to keep a club sitting around for a few weeks if its not going to be a good fit due to my tempo/transition.

I hadn't heard anything about vibration problems, but I do not remember the last time I saw or heard about someone using these. Titanium sports used to make/market them (http://www.titaniumsports.com/ ) but it looks like their website is down. I tried these after surgery, but found that G-Loomis shafts soaked up more vibration than the titanium shafts.
  5. I'm not sure about the GR, but with a ~65 gram shaft, D2+ is no problem in the X-Drive 460. I haven't tried it with a 55~60 gram shaft though.
  6. I hadn't checked the specs on the MTI's as I wasn't crazy about them in person... As for Japanese wedges, you will get a ton of first hand reviews from the guys here, so I'll let everyone chime in! My 2 yen... there are some game improvement irons that have complimentary wedges that are D0-D1, but I've picked up wedges there that were D3+... depending on the shaft.

Black is definitely back for the more 'athlete' oriented models. Taylormade and Yamaha were a bit ahead of the trend with the Superquad TP and 425V (I know its not all black but it is a mix of black and darker colors) followed by the OnOFF and the X-Drive 445 for the upcoming season. I guess this is the golf world's way of making up for the multi-colored high moi drivers.
  8. Still liking the new OnOFF Plus, but you didn't give me any hints about the new Yamaha!!!

Lung-chia, I haven't had this problem yet (fingers crossed) but one thing you could try would be inserting some metal pins/rods through a small piece of wood (probably need to tap or pre-drill the wood). A hobby or craft shop might be able to help you out. You could try some loctite (used to keep screws in place for automotive and other applications), which would keep the weights in place after you manage to tighten them.

    2008 OnOFF Plus Driver.

Need.... More... Information!!! Just kidding, thanks for the info. The soles of the clubs look a bit more busy/techie but not bad. The new drivers look good; is the all black model the replacement for the '07 OnOFF Plus driver?

    Great Info AJ!

I've hit the smaller Craft with a Mizuno Quad shaft and it is a good club; solid feel, nice blend of forgiveness and being able to shape shots, and it looks tight! I'm told that the 460 is a bit more forgiving, but I haven't hit the 460 outside. Personally, I like the feel of the current X-Drive and the Yamaha 425V better for this type of driver... but that is strictly a subjective, non-performance based thing. If I had hit the Craft with a Quattro Tech that might have ended up in the bag.

Nice looking kit! I've seen a few putters like this over the years (STX and... who else guys?) but this is certainly a nice looking mallet, and an interesting option. Who's going to pick one up to do a review?
  15. Ditto what has been said about not enough time and $ to properly test all of the great drivers out there right now. Backspin, I understand what you are saying, and I tend to fall in the same school of thought. Once you find the set up that works for you (length, flex, high/low launch head, high/low spin, and loft) I don't think there will be that much variation from one GOOD driver to the next for YOUR swing. Now, if you need a high launch driver with a bit of spin, and you switch from the X-Drive 460 to something new, sure, you will hit the ball further. However, if you have a good combination for your swing, going to a higher launch/spin head might cost you distance. While a club might be more forgiving in terms of MOI/direction, if you start to manipulate your swing to bring the ball-flight down, or are fighting a high shot in the wind, that extra 'forgiveness' will vanish.

That's a nice option as I was never crazy about the white shaft. Looking down at the candy colored side of the WA would be a nice change.
  17. Nice club isn't it BTW, have you ever had anyone else do more of a comparison between the X-Drive GR and the 460?

Welcome to TSG! I'll let a Gold's expert chime in on the irons. As for woods... I don't know if they are open, but the 430P and 460P from Tourstage are square, and atleast one of the two is fade biased. Also, you might want to look at the Mizuno Craft drivers, as I think those can be ordered with custom lies (I'm not sure about the fairways...). A third option would be the OnOFF Plus driver; you should be able to set that up to be a few degrees open and flat as well. As a 1.2 you probably don't need much advice on your game but if you want to post some info on your current sticks and what you would like to improve upon with your new set, that might generate some additional suggestions.
  19. As T said, this is a very nice driver. It is definitely easier to hit and launches higher than the X-Drive 460. I have seen more than a few shafted withthe Rombax 6x07, and while I have heard that this is a good combo, I haven't tried it myself. The stock shaft is actually quite nice as well.

Hey guys, T, your correct, I should have said press launch... I saw the February date and thought 'what a nice thing to pick up at the golf show' . Unclekent, I saw the new shaft, but I haven't seen any info on it. Chris it does look amazing, and I hope that everyone enjoys the pics!
  21. One of my friends in Japan told me that Callaway launched some new gear yesterday in Japan. The Legacy driver is an evolution of this years ERC Hyper, and looks nice! The shaft selection looks cool and includes the new Diamana, but they dropped the Quattro Tech!!! Does anyone have info on the new GD shaft they will offer, the Tour AD MD?
  22. I'm not sure about newer, square faced hybrids, but the current Tourstage X-UT is a gem if you want something that is not left-biased. I like the new JPX utility from Mizuno, but I do not know if it is draw biased or more neutral as I don't have that much experience with it... yet!
  23. If I had one request for the Roddios, taper tips would be it! RE the AD Pro, I love that shaft too, and while it has low torque numbers and is very 'steel like' in terms of play, I found it to be very smooth. Again, apologies for not being able to do a side-by-side with the Roddio. T, has anyone from graphite design or one of the Japanese blogs detailed the differences between the AD 105/115 and the rest of the line? I'm guessing they did more than offer three cool color schemes and a few extra grams of carbon when the cost doubled but I'd be interested in hearing what they changed.
  24. I wondered about the sponsorship with the all Adidas/TM bag, that answers my question!
  25. T, Does she have a blog? You need to drop her a note about switching over to some proper JDM gear! Some Epon woods, GIII or OnOFF irons with I-6's, and... you get the idea!
