Fourteen's New Irons TC 550 & TC 1000 w/PICS!
Gocchin, The 550's look very, very nice in person! I like the shape of the 1000 when setting up, but the 550's are supposed to be much more forgiving, and I really liked the cavity detail on the 550's.

Custom Black Copper AF301's - New
Beautiful clubs, let us know how the maiden voyage goes!

Just bought the Miura Passing Point
Check around, but I don't think you will have a problem buying individual GD shafts. RE shaft weight, a 100 g shaft will be a bit lighter than a DGS300, so you will swing it a little faster and get a little more height on the ball. That could be exactly what you are after. Ninja edit: There are tons of ~ 100g graphite shafts, although I don't know of any JDM ones in the $30/shaft range. At the uber high end you have the Tour AD 105/115, then in the slightly more reasonable catagory you have the Roddio I-10 and the Tour AD Pro. Following those, you have the Tour AD 95, Rombax 9E05, and the Axiv 959 (? not sure on the model numbering). Some people are fine with an 80g shaft, others find it too light or difficult to control. I would try an 80g shaft, a 100g shaft, and compare them to your S300's. The S300 is fairly heavy shaft, high bend point, low launch, etc. Any sub-100 gram shaft will be a significant change from the S300.

Just bought the Miura Passing Point
Nice choice of irons, and as for shafts, there are plenty of options . As Gocchin said, if you can post some info about what you are after, that would be great. Also, information on iron swing speed and tempo might help the guys out a bit.

Live pics of the new XXIO Gear...
60 grams?!? Not quite what I would be after, but I'm sure that this one will continue to be popular with the target mareket. Any live picks of the new hybrids?

Working on that dream bag
Hmm, something to put the hybrids in on my way back through Japan?

Best players forged cavity back set - 2008 season
Well, I voted and picked up a set of the OnOFF Plus, fantastic irons. The topeline is pleasing, without being razor thin, the grind allows them to be pretty forgiving from a variety of lies, and the Roddio's make them just about perfect!

New XXIO lineup
Thanks T, The 8.5* driver is a surprise, but it looks okay, and the hybrid/utility woods look very nice

Hyun-Ju Shin and Yui Kawahara
Hi T, That would be the issue! Glad to see that the setups are working well for the girls. I thought they might be testing a new driver or hybrid (like the labo-spec fairway wings) ahead of the Tokyo show, but both sets of irons are pretty new. Thanks for taking a look and for the scans so the rest of TSG can take a look! Cheers.

Hyun-Ju Shin and Yui Kawahara
I was browsing an old issue of Golf Style and looking at Yui-san's and Hyun-Ju's setups from earlier this year - while I don't think I can stuff 6 Roddio shafted woods in the bag like Hyun-Ju - I was curious to see if they were testing any new stuff from OnOFF. Cheers.

Hey TSG ... Whats the hottest driver in the ProShop
T, that's the one I just PM'd him about ! I think that club in an 8.5* head with one of the factory upgrades (I saw a few with Diamana Whiteboards, 73 g) might suit quite nicely.

From seson start to end - Gocchin's bag
Beautiful Progression T. Now I am looking forward to seeing what you come back with in February!

Golf Digest DRIVER No.1 Shootout 2007
Hi TM, Thanks for the info on the shaft. Finding a shaft that works well when you are on your A game while still letting you put the ball in play on an off day is key. Also, have fun this summer, I didn't realize no one played in WA during December/January... I guess it gets a bit warmer in Perth than it does in Melbourne!

Hey TSG ... Whats the hottest driver in the ProShop
The 425V in 9* is nice and square... I should probably stop talking about it before everyone thinks that I work for Yamaha but I was really blown away by this club as I hadn't heard of anyone playing a Yamaha other than Gocchin! One thing to check... I don't know if it is a low or mid-spin head, so try to look into that. BTW, the 425V Tour comes with a Diamana Whitebaord, but I think it is the 63 gram version, which is probably a bit light for you? If you like the ZR600... no harm in trying the new ZR700 and the X-Drive 445 wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Golf Digest DRIVER No.1 Shootout 2007
Spot on. There are a few rare exceptions, like the new X-Drive 445 which is definitely geared towards the better players, but that is definitely not the norm. TMfreak, can you post a bit of info about your current Fuji? I'm kind of curious about the bend profile.

Working on that dream bag
Thanks T, I need to work on the pictures a bit... my camera died on the range, so hopefully that was just the batteries! Ranges in Japan are top notch, although I like the food you can order at ranges here in Thailand, so if you could mix the two... . As for the setup, so far, so good and many thanks to everyone here and at the WRX for their thought and ideas about different clubs, fitting, and a bit of inspiration as well! As for the Callaways, they usually have something that I like in the lineup, and I love their customer service, no matter where I have been they are responsive and try to take care of their customers. I would probably be much better off with the ERC Hyper as it is more forgiving, but someone told me that would be replaced early next year so... .

Mitsubishi Diamana ali'islei
Graphics for this shaft on the Quattro Tech would be heaven!

Working on that dream bag
Thanks Toby, I got a nice BagBoy, a few extra towels, and the stiff arm that you all mentioned. I might hold onto my old irons and find a run of the mill driver to toss in the bag when I'm travelling, we'll see.

Working on that dream bag
Well, instead of posting another dream bag, I started putting one together! Driver: narrowing down the list, but the Tourstage X-Drive 460 with a Quattro Tech shown here or an ERC Hyper might stay in the bag for awhile. However, the Yamaha 425V is very tempting, and I'm still thinking about a Roddio in the driver as well. Fairway metal. G-Field GFT 4W, run of the mill graphite design YS shaft. Amazing off the deck, nice and long off of the tea, and zero complaints. Hybrids; I am leaning heavily toward the new Mizuno JPX, but a last minute demo of the OnOFF fairway/hybrid left me in limbo. I need to sort this problem out as I only picked up a 5-PW set of irons as I was set on the JPX hybrids . Irons: OnOFF Plus with Roddio I-10. I do not know where to begin describing these irons, so I will throw up a picture or two for now and a more in depth review will follow in the equipment forum. And yes, I will finish unrwrapping them, I just haven't gotten around to it yet! Wedges: Callaway X-Tour 2008 Japan-Limited/Liquid Chrome wedges. Super soft, nice grind, and beautiful looking clubs. The MD grooves will also shred a range ball like there is no tomorrow. Putter: G-Field Premium Zone in blue. The Japanese guys I met were crazy about Odyssey, Scotty's and Bettinardis; I couldn't find a new Signature MR, so until something else comes along, the G-Field will stay in the bag.

Golf Digest DRIVER No.1 Shootout 2007
TMfreak, I was just writing a recap of my fittings and clubs I settled on while I was in Japan, and you are spot on about getting the right shaft. Many of these clubs would/do work well with a shaft to suit, but the shafts in the more game improvement type models just don't suit people who generate more club head speed and height on their shots imho.

Waggle New Iron Preview!!
T, Sorry I didn't get a chance to hit the EGG. I was rushing around at the last minute to pic up a specially ordered set of irons on my way to the airport... that was good fun as the rain from the Typhoon out in the Pacific made for a crazy commute!

Golf Digest DRIVER No.1 Shootout 2007
T, Thank you for all of the time and effort, cheers! We've already discussed it in another thread, but the Yamaha's are all top notch. One thing about the ERC Hyper, the stock shaft seems nice, quality wise, but from talking to people at two different shops, more amateurs of all swing types seem to do better with the 460 or 425 Yamaha head and the respective stock shaft combos vs the ERC Hyper. Yamaha did an excellent job specing a quality stock shaft that matches the target user.

A look at JPGA Tour Gear this week....
The 460D is also a fantastic club! The 460D, 425V, and 425V Tour/Pro all feel amazing; I am really tempted to try the 425 with a QuattroTech.

ALL NEW TOURSTAGE X-Drive Driver
Guys, the driver does not look that red in normal indoor lighting, and I've hit it outside where, again, it didn't look that red to me. Caveat... the club I tried was an early release/demo, so when the 445 hits the retail floor, it could look a bit different. TMFreak, the feel is very, very solid; it felt similar to the 430P, but I was trying the 430P with a QuattroTech, so I was partial to that club because the shaft fit be swing a bit better. Some other guys playing 430P's and 460's said the 445 seems a touch more forgiving, but they hadn't done an in depth comparison at the range or on the course. Unfortunately I haven't been able to compare the 445 to the Epon.

Waggle New Iron Preview!!
Landshark, the i701 is a US/world model but they sell them in Japan as well. T, great pictures of all of these irons, thank you! I think PRGR will have a great year in Japan with the EGG released earlier this fall and the 500BL and 501 driver as well.
