Yamaha 4.6D series, GIII
Hey guys, I just wanted to see if anyone had tried the 4.6D or 4.6D Type S yet. Also, does anyone know if GIII (Grand Golf Gear from Daiwa) is coming out with a new driver this year?

Master Sasaya's PZ Insert Alternative
I just came into the Flatstick forum to post a question about the feel between the Golds milled face (and by extension the Premium Zones) versus the new Bettinardi. Idrive, could you expand a bit more on the difference in feel?

Mizuno JPX E500, Tourstage 2008ViQ, or PRGR is3 502
I help teach a few girls I know who are just getting taking up the game (Toby, stop laughing about the idea of me teaching ) and they all love the 2006 ViQ. I will ask one of them to try the 2008 version to see what they think. If the '08 was on par with the current model, they would be a fantastic club. As for the PRGR's, is there a reason you weren't looking at the 505 and or the Lady-specific Sweep? The Sweep hybrid mid irons and forgiving short irons with that set might be the ticket, if she isn't already playing hybrids or high lofted woods. I don't know of any girls playing the JPX, but I've seen a few with both the '06 and '07 OnOFF irons as well. Sorry I didn't narrow it down for you, but I think that the ViQ, the PRGR's, or the OnOFF's would be great. If the women's JPX is as good as the mens club, it would probably be another solid choice as well.

AKIRA TM Driver, Wedges and Hybrid
Thanks for the update Reggie. I'm happy to hear that you found a great combo with the driver, and if you can squeeze a bit more out with another shaft, so much the better! I'm tempted to put the Akira Hybrid in the bag but we'll see. As for the drivers, I haven't hit one, but if I run accross one in the future, I'll be sure to test it out! Thanks again for the review!

AKIRA TM Driver, Wedges and Hybrid
A bit of a blast from the past... Reggie, have you or anyone else been keeping up with Akira products? I have heard very little about them in Japan, but I tried one of the hybrids pictured in your post here, and it is quite a solid club.

Miura Limited Edition Blades reviewed
Jack, Just another person saying thank you for the nice review! One thing that has put me off of a few different blades has been the leading edge, so that makes these blades sound all the more appealing.

Yamaha 2008 Lineup Preview Video
Nice preview T! I like the look of last years drivers, but the 4.6D Type S sounds tempting.

New Graphite Design Tour AD QUATTRO TECH MD
Thanks for the info T! For a few people like me I think the older Quattro Tech will work well in the driver (still loving the low bend shaft in a lower launch head), but I think the new specs on the MD will be much better for most.

Insight needed PRGR 900 MD Irons
Very nice set that deserves attention from anyone who is after a player's cb/neo blade. They have a fantastic grind, slight bevel and a bit of a roll on the leading edge as well. The stock M43 and M46 shafts are a bit lighter than a DGS300, and have a progressive bend profile if memory serves (can anyone confirm that?). If you baloon other shafts at 100~110 g's you might hit these high as well, but if you are comfortable with the shaft spec, these are fantastic. I'm not sure if you can do so right now, but at one stage you could custom order them with some Dynamic Golds as well if you were after those. Another option though, if you are after a players CB from PRGR is the 500 BL. I had a tough time choosing between these and my OnOFF's, but if I was going to pick up another set, the 500 BL would be at the top of my list at the moment.

Favorite Wedge?
Graphite in irons, graphite in wedges, its still a topic that I like . I have messed around with graphite in my wedges even when I was playing steel. If you get the right shaft for your swing, they work really well. As the moment I'm using S300's, but if I pick up a spare set of the Callaways (or a new 2008 LQ wedge... Callaway, make it happen!) then I would be very tempted to put some I-10's or AD Pros in my wedges. Idrive, if you had the XB series graphite shaft in a newer X-wedge, I can understand you not falling in love with it. The combo is too light for a good player imho. EDIT: just saw your second post; graphite absorbs more shock than steel. I have yet to talk to anyone who has had major surgery (ie someone more sensitive to shock) that would say otherwise.

Favorite Wedge?
I've gone for more off-beat (for TSG ) stuff and really like the Crews Triple Grind (soft, great grind, spin the ball nicely) and Liquid Chrome Callaways (same comments as per the Crews wedges, plus I am a bit of a Callaway fan). The MTI's look interesting, although PRGR's choice for the paintfill raises some questions about their sense of aesthetics (just kidding guys) and I would really like to try some Chikaras as well.

2008 CB iron HELP!!!
Hi there, With a two and solid ball-striking and just looking for more height on the long irons, I would definitely look at the PRGR 501 (I really like the 500 BL as well, but I don't know if I would call the 4 or 5 iron 'high launch'), the Tourstage X-Blade GR or maybe the new 2008 X-Blade CB, The Fourteen TC-550, or the 2007 OnOFF Plus - these have some Tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons, so they help put the ball a bit higher, but produce a nice penetrating trajectory at the same time.

2008 Black TourStage 445cc Driver w/ PICS!
The shaft is mid-high bend, so I would agree that it is generally suited to someone with a fairly quick tempo or transition (not me). It seems like a nice club though. Ajaykkr, I would love to do a comparo soon, but the stock shafts have somewhat different profiles, something to keep in mind when reading stock to stock comparisons. As for the new OnOFF Plus on the JPGA, T, any news?

What are the Japan PGA Pros putting with?
I don't have a list, but if you browse through a Japanese magazine, you will see quite a few Odyssey putters, with some Yes, Cameron, and Rife's as well. At one point last year I was told that roughly half of the top 25 on the JLPGA were using something from Odyssey.

Beres TW913
No info on the Beres page, but the Honma site has some info about the new TW913. It is a 440 cc athlete or players club, and comes with a fairly solid shaft for an oem: the regular flex UD62 cpm's are supposed to measure 261 while the stiff flex should play around 279. Other than seeing it pop up in a few players bags - sorry I didn't scan them - I don't have much info about how they play. I'm looking to try the new OnOFF Plus and X-Drive 445, but this could be an interesting alternative for some.

PX
Its funny how a shaft will just 'work' in some clubs, and feel like rubish in others!

PX
Hi Toby, I don't know why we never saw the PX in JDM irons prior to the True Temper buyout. I remember there being some initial problems with quality control after the buyout, leading to some delays on clubs ordered with the PX. However, the last time I was chatting with someone at a shop, you could order the PX again with no big delays. I've never been a fan of the shaft, and when I'm messing with steel, I've always been more comfortable with Dynamic Gold S300's.

Back to my first love
Randy, I'm happy to hear that you were able to rekindle an old flame, and thank you for the great review, especially of the driver!

Best JDM 20-21 degree hybrid?
Tourstage X-UT is a popular one and I would also take a look at the OnOFF Fairway Wing; both are available in a 21* model. If you are looking for an iron like hybrid, a few different Fourteen clubs would fit the bill, as would the new Tourstage utility iron. EDIT: Randy I was talking about the X-UT earlier, I missed the X-BLADE utility bit.
