  1. Many a good tune is played on an old fiddle!! :tsg_smilie_wink:
  2. I guess a well struck shot is the key. Forged is head and shoulders above cast on a shot struck from the sweet spot. There is no difference on a poorly struck shot. How many times do I hit the sweet spot in a round?? Maybe once or twice, but let me tell you when it happens it is pure magic!! On that basis I prefer to play forged. Each to their own.
  3. The view of the crown is simply beautiful, and I for one like beautiful golf clubs. The feel of the club also sounds right on the money. All in all a very good report and test!! :tsg_smilie_cool: :tsg_smilie_cool:
  4. Good rig. Those Clevland irons look like real beauties!! :tsg_smilie_cool:
  5. Good question. I'm sure the learned TSG community will provide some worthwhile insights.
  6. :tsg_smilie_confused: I don't know, but they look pretty good :tsg_smilie_cool:
  7. :tsg_smilie_cool: Thanks for the feedback!
  8. Gotta say I like the look from address. A winner in my view. Personally I like steel in fairway metals as opposed to titanium.
  9. :tsg_smilie_confused: A little further information about a Diamana whiteboard would be good!!
  10. Just beautiful. Gives a whole new meaning to " many a good tune has been played on an old fiddle"
  11. Some interesting points here. Let me just say, my golf coach can fix my MP11s by spending twenty minutes fixing the bloke whose holding them..... ....and man are they great clubs after that :tsg_smilie_confused: So far as the previous comment about the economy..... .....the economy doesn't concern me so far as golf clubs!! (I know you were only joking) My ho tendencies cover all components of the club i.e. shafts grips. I personally tend to buy based on looks, feel and new ideas. I don't think that happens every season but I still keep looking.

    I like the dog :tsg_smilie_cool:
  13. Thanks for the report. As I suspected these wedges are very functional with the custom sole grinds. Good luck with them on the course. :tsg_smilie_cool:
  14. I've said it before, but the 430 deep looks like a real beauty!! :tsg_smilie_cool: :tsg_smilie_cool:
  15. Words of wisdom from the master. I have tinkered with my irons for a long time, but a new set would have EXACTLY the same specs as the ones they are replacing.
  16. "A better option than the XD" The question I'm begging to ask: Chris could you please compare the 430P with the deep faced VIQ. I'm sure I'm not the only one with the question. They both look great!! :tsg_smilie_cool: :tsg_smilie_cool:
  17. This might be a long shot, but does the "P" in the 430 P stand for pear shaped. The look of the 430P is an absolute winner in my opinion!! :tsg_smilie_cool: :tsg_smilie_cool:
  18. Cut away sole :tsg_smilie_confused: Pretty much the same as the old Wilson Dyna-Powered staff model! The milling marks of course are absolutely brand new!!! :tsg_smilie_cool:
  19. Two beautiful rigs!! :tsg_smilie_cool: And a great report!! :tsg_smilie_cool:

Contact Ari (Fairway Fred) through the site. He is the proprieter and is very accomodating.
  21. In my view the Japanese like beautiful golf clubs. My view of the new square driver concept if they are butt ugly. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
  22. alpha_pro could you provide additional information on the sole grinds on your Epon wedges and the benefits you have derived from the custom grinds. Your friend at par golf 72 looks to have done a very good job with these!! :tsg_smilie_cool:
  23. Guys just starting a new post off the back of some commentary contained in Chris' post the "contenders" A number of posts indicate that shorter hosels move the centre of gravity lower and and towards the toe. This of course just makes sense. ....This idea is not new, as Wilson during the late 50's and for most of the 60's inserted platic plugs in the hosel and redistributed the weight to the toe of the club. This is particularly evident in the Dyna-Powered wedges, which in their day were the absolute "ants pants" Moving forward there was the Pings and the Callaways. Both radical designs and technologically well advanced, however these both looked like axes. Now for the fun bit.... ...why don't some of the members, simply design a set of concept irons. The criteria is quite simple. 1) They need to look beautiful (we can all agree on that hopefully) i.e at least look like blades 2) They need to be technologically advanced ie short hosels, weight re-distributed to the toe etc If something worthwhile were to eventuate, and we were really really nice to Ari, maybe he could knock up a proto type (that said in my opinion the AR-1s are pretty good). JUST FOR FUN at this stage. Let's see what we come up with. :tsg_smiley_yes:
  24. The best indication of shaft flex is the CPMs. This is measured on a machine. The higher the CPMs the stiffer the shaft. That said, shafts have different kick points and different characteristics depending upon quality, howver if it is just flex that concerns use start with CPM. ......then ask Chris to fit you for the rest.
  25. I've got a set of MP 11s. I haven't worn them out. That said, spent most of the last 14 years raising the kids. They are great irons. Played Wednesday in a corporate ambrose and just smashed them at the stick all day. The swing was in the zone. That said when the swing is ordinary, they are unforgiving. Still using them because on the good days they are simply the best.
