Mac... can't beat it!
phillypete replied to phillypete's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearyeah that is the one thing I imagine finding Mac downloads might be hard... I really haven't tried... I go to college so I get music from the network... but I don't really do that too much b/c I like really high quality sound. You watch one day cd players will be like record players... and watch out for Laser Disc making a come back with the trendy niche.

Mac... can't beat it!
phillypete posted a post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI would just like to broadcast to everyone that I love my computer. I got it a few months ago, so I've had some time to explore it. And let me tell you Apple puts together a hell of a computer from OS to hardware. I was realy nervous about making the swith but I figured I could always fall back on my desktop. Well I have now offically given my desktop to my parents. I rely almost solely on my Powerbook. I ony say almost b/c I use the lab computers for Matlab since I have yet to find a similar product for Apple... not that I would pay for it if I did find it, but anyhow... Other than the Matlab thing I have yet to run into a "Mac" problem. It never crashes and since Apple holds thier developers to high standards programs are always efficient. The funny thing is M$ Office for Mac is better than Office Xp, and they even have Office X coming out (or it might be out) but from what I have seen it will be nothing short of wonderful. It just doesn't make sense for M$ to make the software better for another OS... you think they would particularly sand bag it. Its really funny all my fellow students and professors... engineering people... are always asking me all kind of questions, asking to tool around on it. One of my professors cornered me for an hour, asked me all sorts of stuff, took it for a test drive and what do you know the next day he walks in with a 17" powerbook. He said he had been interested in one for a while. What got him interested is apparently Apple is making a huge effort to become the computer of choice for science people. He has the school buying him a dual G5 to do 3D gas shock analysis, apparently the Apple does this better than the "super computer" in the lab. Its wonderful not having to worry about spyware and virus'. I mean I am safe, I use an anti virus and all but its not real necessary. There was a worm that came out that attacked Mac users but within a day Apple released a security patch to fix it. People always say they like windows for its flexiblity. I have found nothing that I could do on my PC that I can't do on my apple. So to anyone in the market for a new computer I suggest checking out an Apple.

Should long putter be banned?
people want to play what the pros play or atleast look like what the pros are playing. Need proof... the sales record of Nike Blades vs the number of people who can hit them. However seperate rules should be made for the Tour verses USGA.

General BS Thread
phillypete replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI have the same problem... whenever I play with someone I strugge around bogey golf... but when I am by myself I am a single digit. I'm so good when I am alone that I stopped reporting my scores so it wouldn't hurt my handicap. And since I don't report it I stopped keeping score.

General BS Thread
phillypete replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearlet me tell you about my weekend so far... Friday... skipped a class to get int 9 holes Saturday... 18 in the morning with my college friends. Then in the afternoon I played a par 3 course with my dad. It was his first course golfing. He has been to the range a few times with me but never played in his life. We had a blast. My dad did alright, struggled to hit the little ball first for most of the day, but had some great shots. After that my parents had some sort of party to go to so I went to the range to try to find something that would make my driver go where I wanted it too... I didn't find it but I did get ti regripped. Tomorrow, Sunday, I have a full day of rock climbing planned so it looks like golf it out... Monday I got some projects to finish up but if we get some good work done on them I might be able to talk the guys into a few. Here is something troubling, or maybe it was a good thing... I think the par 3 course inflated thier yardages. According to thier markings I was carrying my 9i 140!!! which is rediculous. I mean I was hitting though it really really nice but still... I think part of the reason I was hitting so well was b/c I thought I was hitting it so far. Its an interesting thought, but if the yrds are inflated then that kind of kills the practice I thought I was getting...

phillypete replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI will . but it will have to be from work now . The thread is getting to big for my small pipe to handle . Took close to 20 minutes for it to finish downloading earlier tonight so I won't be adding anything to it anymore . Damn phone lines hate them , but when it is all you can get nothing can be done about it . :( think its time for a new pin up thread? I'll start one...

Between 8.5 and 9 there is not really a difference... however for whatever reason the 11's look like HUGE when sitting next to the 9's

How does offset help or not help
What taylor made cb's were you playing before? How was your ball going right... was it starting right and staying there, or was it going straight and turning right? offset is meant to givethe user an extra split second to square the club face, and decrease the starting straight and turning right, known as a fade or a slice depending on the dramatic it is. If you want to decrease your score then switch to something more forgiving, like callaway. If you want to better your swing go with a players cb. The Players cb will be much harder to strike pure than the callaway, however it will give you more acturate feedback on your swing and demand more from your swing. A friend of mine's little brother is graduating high school this year, he is an amazing golfer and has asperations of going pro. He practices with mb's, Wilson VIP's, range work and the occational round. When plays in compatition or warming up for compatition he plays cb's, some older Ping. So it all depends on what you are going after... this kid found a way to get the best of both worlds.

phillypete replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearsunday I had a terrible wedge game so I hit the chipping green for a couple of hours after my round... Monday it all paid off. I had a chip in for birdie on a par three and almost chipped in on the last hole to win by two strokes, but alas I had to putt to by one. Maybe there is something to this practice thing...
