Can someone explain what is meant when a shaft is tipped, say 1 inch?

As much as I admire Tiger and his ability as a golfer, his swing plane looks a little flat compared to swing pictures I have seen dating back to 1998-1999.

I have always used stock shafts with my clubs I purchased. Just curious with those of you that have gone to custom shafts on your experiences with differences in yardage and feel compared to stock shafts. Are we talking about night and day or just little differences?

I still have my T-Zoid Comp EZ irons and love them!! Its time, however, for a new set. The Mizuno JPX line ES 300 and 301 look interesting. Anyone play these?

Anyone play both and can give me a comparison?

I completely agree. The fun part is the research and investigation stage!!! What better way to spend a day on the internet searching Manufacturers Japan web sites looking at fantastic clubs not made for the u.s. market and wondering what the web site says about it. (Japanese does not translate well through Google translation!) However, if you do your research and can view the actual picture of the club, I believe you have a better chance of liking it if you decide to buy it. Chris does a fantastic job answering any questions you have about any clubs.

It was a general question. Have not ordered any clubs but if I did through Chris, my specs would be 1/2 inch shorter than normal. I find irons from Japan have lighter swing weights than domestic clubs and am concerned what the effect would be if the clubs are shortened.

Chris, if you get the Callaway, I would love a review and comparison with the Srixon Z-Steel.

I want to thank Chris for this fabulous site which opens up the market for all of us to be able to purchase better equipment from the Japanese market. Unless you are in Japan, it is almost impossible to buy the equipment. I recently was at a local golf show which had many reps from the major manufacturers. I asked several of them about ordering Japan only products. Every reaction I got was the same..no, impossible, cannot do, separate companies. It seemed like I was asking something that was shunned upon. I am just wondering why these manufactures try to keep the U.S. and Japan market separate? Any thoughts?

If one orders a club that has a spec swing weight of D-O requesting it to be 1/2 inch shorter, would I be correct to assume the manufacturer will keep the swing weight at D-O?

What exactly is swing (club) weight? For example, if I have a club that has a weight of D-0, what does that mean? If I decide to order a club that is 1/2 inch shorter than normal, will the swing weight change?

Silly question but does anyone know why Japanese clubs designed only for the Japanese market have English readings on them? Just curious.
