  1. I tested all the iron models today... the tour model must be one of the most satisfying feeling irons I have ever hit PLUS it was not that hard to hit and I am an average golfer. I have started posting on the blog... and you will soon find out the tour model iron blew me away. Oh well I guess you already found out since I said it here.
  2. Made at the same factory and most consider it just as good and many consider Yamaha even more high tech design.
  3. Yamaha was generous this year... they sent me 14 demo drivers and 14 irons. And then told me I have till Tuesday to test them and return them!!!! I didn't really need every driver with every shaft option (BB6, Fubuki K, Attas T3, etc..) Ah but so be it, I cannot really complain. Anyway people wanted to see the face milling up close so here it is on the tour model which looks gorgeous. All the irons look amazing and can't wait to hit the range this afternoon!
  4. The AF-302 is reasonably forgiving but the ONOFF is certainly more forgiving and its designed to be, ONOFF does not offer heads only. They are not a components company.
  5. Not available even through Crazy and we are one of their biggest accounts in Japan. I am trying my best to convince them to get us a few. If we do get any it will be less than 5 pieces.
  6. The standard model is of course still available. You should tell them to buy them from us. (^_^) We can still get any loft. I was talking about the prototypes. Those are the ones sold out.
  7. Long sold out... months ago! Reasons why they went with a 2 wedge set instead of your suggested 3, a 2 wedge set for most average golfers if far more common especially 52/58. 3 Wedge set... harder to sell. Cost, a 3 wedge set is more expensive harder to sell. I promoted these wedges long ago and if I remember correctly suggested them to you (^_^) but they simply weren't as popular as expected probably due to their higher cost.
  8. My favs are Yururi and the Sky Dream Jump D-tours... The SDJ are non conforming, feel superb and spin amazingly. I had the DB Forged which is a good wedge the I rank the SDJ above them. Jason was lucky enough to get a brand new set of 53/59 with commerative box and all. Probably the last ones in Japan new.
  9. It's very accurate, it pretty much is a speed gun/radar like what police use for speeding cars and scouts use for catching pitcher throwing speed in baseball. My numbers are very close to trackman numbers and most people who have gotten it will tell you its rather CONSISTENT which is the key. PRGR has been making speed monitor devices for well over a decade and this includes full fledged proprietary launch monitors for their Science Fit system.
  10. C, I wish I still had my 380. (^_^)
  11. Yours is a custom order so it will take a bit longer... first batch out is all standard specs and shafts.
  12. I guess that means you've never got anything from us (^_^) Of course we post to the UK. We ship worldwide!
  13. Before you all get so excited that shaft is a special edition made SPECIFICALLY for a golf store chain here in Japan. I haven't confirmed if we can get it as its to be sold in that specific store only. Not even Crazy will sell it to its own Crazy Factory members. Crazy specially notes the Boron shaft is NOT made at the same Crazy factory that all other Crazy shafts are made and shafts must be purchased directly from that golf store.
  14. Summed it up pretty well J. It is always in my bag, at the range on the course, and try it will every club I test. Tells me a lot about how that club fits my swing and how well I can hit it.
  15. Dale you read our blog right? (^_^)
  16. Reasonably popular among Japan touring pros, play more like steel and are rather stout with pretty low torque numbers. If you want graphite like response but steel like dispersion and impact the Thump is an option but really aimed at faster harder swingers (like you).
  17. No new blade (unless a special edition comes out) and the CB will be the ONOFF RED model which is aimed at average golfers to higher handicappers. The ONOFF Forged is current until 2012. The ONOFF is forged by Endo and probably has better distance than the 9003 though they are comparable feel wise. The ONOFF launches easier and can get up there thanks to huge amounts of tungsten in the long and mid irons. the 9003 doesn't use any weighting. The ONOFF even though aimed at the better player might be a touch more forgiving, I am playing them now and they are no less forgiving than the VG3 Forged I had which is a pocket cavity. Keep in mind, feel, distance and trajectory can all be affected by your shaft choice as well.
  18. It's a very good shaft and is actually still in play by many Japanese pros including Momoko Ueda, they just won't change it out.
  19. I don't think anyone has gotten their wedges yet. We have a TON of orders but most are beginning to ship out this week as Titleist massively oversold their pre orders and people have to end up waiting because of that. Both wedges you are considering are very good in both looks and feel and we should be reviewing both soon.
  20. The Quadras work fine at shorter lengths unlike some Crazy shafts which are meant to excel at longer lengths. Cutting the butt of the proto though may have little change on its performance characteristics. The reason why is most of the action on the FEX Proto is in the center section and the butt all the way down to the center/butt has a very normal stiffness. The soft feel people get from the FEX Proto is because the tip/center section is softer than average Just to give you an example if you read my shaft bible post, the FEXProto 65 Stiff has the following flex from tip to tip/center to center to center/butt to butt 7.8 9.6 17 22.1 28.5 As a comparison the CB46 Stiff from Crazy: 8.2 11.6 19 25.8 26.1 So as you can see from the above numbers, the Proto is softer through the tip and center, and the butt is stiffer (but still average compared to most) so 0.5" may not change its feel and performance much. A lot of this will depend on your own swing as well.
  21. I don't really see the resemblence with the AF-302. Besides the notches on each side of the cavity the actual cavity is not the same nor is the back face or the shape of the head. It's also satin while the AF-302 is mirror chrome. It has quite a bit more trailing edge relief too.
  22. C, keep in mind also the 445 is relatively new and the 435II is even newer which is why you don't see them around. The others like the 460 have been around since early this year and the 425 and original 435 are nearly 2 years old. They are all without a doubt good drivers, it will all come down to what each individual personally wants out of that driver.
  23. Well it is official, one day after the product announcement, and all sets of the S200 are accounted for. Only custom orders now are being taken from Yamaha's set aside heads for custom orders. So we can only take custom orders now.
  24. The milled face looks awesome... unlike other brands that use swirls, the Yamaha has X's. These limited editions are always so much trouble for us... in other words they are WAY too limited. We have to compete with so many shops to order. I spoke with Yamaha today and they said since yesterdays official product announcement the standard spec with S200 is pretty much sold out and they can't guarantee how many sets we will get. Our safest bet is actually ordering custom spec as most golf shops simply get the standard spec which is why it runs out here in Japan. Yamaha puts aside a batch just for custom orders.
  25. Actually the RoyDeco has a softer butt section which is why there is a huger sensation of kick. The TJ-46 should launch as high if not higher than the RoyDeco. Jay, you are definitely an SR as we have discussed. People can go softer as long as they can control it and have a smoother tempo. As I had mentioned few years ago, one Japanese magazine had a test where a group of guys who typically use S flex hit drivers installed with ladies flex. At first they were all over the place but once they got the timing down, they began driving the ball further than their own drivers with stiff flex shafts. Of course consistency and dispersion can go down but distance can surely go up with a softer shaft.
