Anyone have a review on the X Drive 2????

anyone hit this club....and could tell me how it performs.....

also how the GD shaft feels? thanks guys

It's the most stable Tourstage driver to date. Great feel, good distance, and quite workable. Haven't hit many drivers of late so it's hard to compare to current line-ups but the driver is good. The M-65 performs very well - no complaints. I have the HiCor version and of course you gain yardage when hit on the absolute sweet spot but no different when slightly off. I'm already looking at a new stick but that's only because of my "need" to buy :money: Nonetheless, I'm more than happy to play this driver until something really catches my eye.

driver is fricken awqesome, well when i'm swinging good. i'm not sure if it,s just me, but my ball tends to fade rather then draw. All in all the club is solid. Ball shoots off the face like a f**king rocket. shaft seems a little soft to me. thats just my opinion.

Well, I just got the 340 on M65. The weather here has sucked lately, but I did rush through a quick bucket on Saturday. I love it. I have previously tried the Maru (which I wish I had kept) and the 390 X Drive, but this is my favorite. Certainly the "hottest" face of a Tourstage driver, but still not as pingy as the others. The M65 is a sweet shaft. I got a nice trajectory, but the ball seemed to be rolling further after impact. I was also mashing w/ a R7 TP on I65, and a Gemini prototype on a Fuji 553. I need more time and better weather, but if I had to take one right now, I like the Tourstage because of its smaller head, and I just love it at address.

I absolutely love my 405. The impact is very sweet. No "tingy" sound, just a nice knock sort of similar to a Titleist. The rubber technology definitely changes the feel of the hit. Vibration is dampened and shots just feel very pure with the 405.

Distance has been really great. I've been experiencing a really nice trajectory, mid to high with a nice peak and upon landing a nice kick and roll. Surprisingly easily longer then my old Tour R7.

The 405 kicked my Tour R7 out of the bag after one round. The yardage gains were great. The trajectory was exactly what I was looking for while I was fiddleing around with my R7 weight kit. The stock X Stiff shaft works really well. I was really impressed with it and also thankful that I didn't have to spend my usual $$$'s playing with shafts.

Really a great club and I'd highly recommend it. For those who don't know....here's some pics of my 405 and also comparison photo's with my R7.

Nice Pictures!

Lovely looking club (not so sure about the headcover though.....).

I guess the shaft is the GD W65?....... does it feel smooth, play to flesx etc. what would you compare it to?

Thanks again....

I've got the stock GD Tour AD M-65 X Stiff. I've pretty much used Fuji 757 Tour Specs in all my last drivers. So the GD was definitely an "experiment" for me. It feel softer then my 757 but not too soft where I can feel it bending and torqueing out. Definitely a shaft that I can either go after the ball, or take a nice smooth cut with it. Unlike my 757 where I felt I needed to give a little more oomph in to it all the time.

Thanks pitbull, for the additional pic...... I never got on with the speeder 757 I had in a TP510, but put a NV in an MR23 and love this setup, although the NV is tip stiff, it's still smooth. I'd like to experiment and see if the newer(more expensive) shafts would give me step up in performance from the NV. I'm thinking GD,ACCRA, Diamana etc.

Thanks again for your review. I shall add it to my list of considerations! :smile1: i

No problem guys. I have to say though when I got the 405, I had been completely happy and satisfied with my R7. My R7 had already won over match ups with Ping G2's, Cobra Comp 460, 905's, Ignite 410/460, and a Cleveland Comp. I didn't think it would have been so easy to knock the R7 out of the bag. One round on my usual course had me noticing the yardage differences and the superior hit and feel. It was really amazing and a testament to the superior performance of the Tourstage product.

I played my new 405 for the first time today.......completely agree with Pitbull's assessment. Nice feel, sound. Very solid. Good trajectory and distance. I opted for the TDX-65 shaft, SR flex. My driver SS is in the low 90's so this shaft seems pretty good for me. I believe that this shaft is made by Mitsubishi. I put the stock headcover in my drawer along with the 20 or so other headcovers I don't use and put a custom headcover with my club logo on it. That stock headcover may be fashionable in Japan but I think it is just plain ugly. A nice magnetic closure like the R7TP would have been nice. Hell, I played with a guy last week who had a Walter Hagan driver that had a nicer headcover than the Tourstage!

Got to agree about the headcover. It's pretty ugly and hardly serves as anyprotection. The stretchy nylon on the underside hardly protects the clubs crown. I wish they had a cover like the magnetic R7 cover.....that way I wouldn't have to use my R7 cover on it. :smile2: It's almost blasphemy!

... looks like tourstage with the 405 (and new j33r for that matter) has gone the taylormade route with a flat face with very little bulge and roll, unlike their former designs. would you guys say this is true or a picture-based illusion?

what is the difference between the diamana stinger and the regular diamana 63/73/83 etc.?

thanks.

I'd say your assessment is correct Mike, although this is the first Tourstage driver I've owned so I'm not any expert. This driver looks like it means business at address.

The X-Drive2 is a players driver, Its honestly not as forgiving as most 400cc drivers on the market. Its rewards when hit well are long great feeling shots. The sweet spot really rewards a player who can hit it consistently. My XD2 is damaged fell off the cart and has about 6 small chips, Thank god none on the face. I found a company called Cosmic Airbrush that will handle the re-finish job, this is where I need your help guys:

- Bright Red

- Dark Blue/Purple

- Light Blue

- Ash Gray

I want something different

What about custom Air brushing? any suggestions?

Hey! ( Lennie ) Your bag is Amazing!! :niceshot:

The Diamana Stinger has a special Material inside of it that allows maximum kick while still maintaing a tight pattern. Only 1000 stinger shafts were made they came with a hat and towel @ 500.00 each.

The Only shaft that is the same and available to us now is the Tourstage stock TXD-70 shaft just released this year.

Sorry bud, it's not mine. Just a photo of a refinished one that I had. There are several airbrushing companies who will do work like this. I think it's a little too "busy" for me though. I'd have a hard time concentrating on the ball. :smile2:
