Miuramaniac
Thought I'd throw this out for the Epon fanboys to jump up and down and say "Epon does!" w/o having played them yet. haha...just a little election day ribbing to lighten the mood (for me at least!) daamartin
I used to love those PING eye half-n-half bi coloured balls. They were wound with a surlyn cover and used to make you dizzy watching them fly! These ones - collector items now: http://reviews.ebay.com/Ping-Golf-Balls-Tips-for-Collecting-Two-Colored-Eyes?ugid=10000000000763235

Ian-500
Well, if we're being serious then you'd have to say Titleist, purely based on their tour success.............and all the balls I find in the rough are Titleist! I play Srixon Soft Feel at the moment. A mid-priced ball which is great off the tee and some good spin with soft feel round the greens. Yeah, I saw that. Nice review. I may have to try some. Been using the Srixon Z-Star for a couple of years and really like it. Yellow, too. Durable as all get-out. supo
well.................... heres my weird ,but kinda somewhat commonsens take on it. who makes rubber. i mean, what companies deal in rubber... cars tyres sring to mind so in my mind .....,i went ofr the companies that have some experience with rubber manufacturing dunlop + bridgestone. so srixon xv and tourstage x-01 and NOW the beaut z-01 dont remember driving round on callaway tryes over the last 20 od years... swisstrader
Every time I try something new, I always go back to the Pro V's. Like it or not, they're still the best ball out there and number one for many years in the US.

RIduffer
who makes rubber. i mean, what companies deal in rubber... cars tyres sring to mind Really like the Tourstage and Srixon balls, but Tour Hex Black is a great ball too. Also, it isn't so much rubber any more as it is advanced materials and resins…
supo
yea i know.... i use those in oz.... i was really very impressed by how good they play on super hard greens. i bought a heap of them. they are quite hard, but mange to keep quiet when it counts on the greens they dont feel good to putt with tho very clicky, i dont like that, the tourstage x-01 milds tho just sem to hug the grass on he greens ,they aint hte longest . not by a long way. but when it counts on the greens. gee its hard fro me to go t anything else. potuna
Titleist is good (prov1x) but lately Srixon is my ball of choice (XV)

MoreBeerBetterGolf
I honestly think ball performance has more parity than ever before. Titleist isn't doing anything spectacular tech wise with their balls...they dominate the marketing and perception categories and are the ball most every tour pro grew up playing and trusts the most. I rarely play Titleist because I've never noticed them to be any better than my other favorite premium balls and they cost more. If it gives you the warm and fuzzies to play them and you have confidence that's worth a lot. Personally they've never done that for me. idrive
I think most of the Premium balls are all good balls. Hard to say one really excels more than another in every way that it is the superior ball of balls. Lots of good balls. I'd like to think that if you give me a "Top" ball it really wouldn't make a huge difference. To answer the OP's question, I think Bridgestone has the most technology as well as the best manufacturing of Golf balls.

jaygolf
I haven't tried balls like tourstage...Pentas and pro v1 x make it to my bag more than others mostly out of convenience. But, if I'm completely honest with myself, the ball I seem to perform best with driving wise, is the callaway tour ix. There are still quite a few places selling them at 20 pounds a dozen, so that works for me.
DaleUK
All through the summer I played with either Pro Vx and or Callaway Black A d time after time I thought the Pro V was a better Ball
FrankThong
I do not think there's such a thing as 'the best ball', just like I don't think there's a best shaft, driver, iron, wedge, putter, bag, shirt, pants, socks, shoes, hell, I don't think there's such a thing as the best anything! What works for one may not work for another; pros would no doubt play a different ball from a weekend hacker. I think perhaps you could try to find what's the best distance ball, or spin ball, or soft ball, just not a singular definitive best ball. xerobound
Titleist makes great balls for overall performance, but been experimenting with more Srixon and Tourstage lately. When I play a serious competition, I usually go back to Titleist. But Epon golf balls!? Haven't played them yet, but may be a top contender.
