nobmontana
From what I read thus far, the new Modus 115s are of the 105, 125 family with high kick point. The raw weight of 115 is actually heavier than the Modus 120, which is somewhat confusing, but I would expect the 115 to perform midway between the 105 and 125 in terms of trajectory and spin. When I got fitted with the Project X LZ 5.5, the other shaft that performed similarly well was the Modus 105 S. However, Modus 105 S felt a bit too light for me and a bit too high trajectory. I'll need to try these 115s as they should fit me well. The only thing I am not impressed wth the PX LZ is the poor weight tolerance. When assembling my set, I had used tip weights ranging from 2 to 8 grams to get the correct swing weight all because the shaft weights are so off. Based on my past experience with Nippon shafts, I would not have weight tolerance issues. Also, I am hoping they feel better at impact. Hutch
I have a set of 115s in my toyo wedges. They are ok, nothing flash.....as far as wedge shafts go I think the Shimada NW series are king. Will be interesting to see if these are closer to the 105 which I dont like at all, or the 120 which feel great but a bit on the heavy side for me now with not playing every week. I think these might be on the heavy side. If I was in the 115 G range I think I would be Shimada tour lite. nobmontana
you have the new Tour 115? or the 115 Wedge?
Hutch
I think so, but I will check when I get home from work. I thought the wedge 115 had been out for a while. I am probably wrong...

nobmontana
The black limited edition looks nice, but not sure why they didn't do the logo in the signature red!! would have looked much better. Gonna wait for the normal version.
Hutch
I think the black and white looks better, less garish/lurid...but everyone to their own. If had a black and white in a 950 profile/model. That would get may attention. These will be a bit on the heavy side for me.
Holminone
Spent the last three days testing the modus 105 x and s, 115 x and s, 120 x and s, and px lz 6.5 in mizuno 223 heads. Launch and spin were virtually the same between the 115 x and 120x but I liked the feel and balance of the 115 better. Didn’t have to work quite as hard but the two felt similar down into and at the ball. 105 x is great. But dispersion was a bit higher possibly because the weight… Edited January 4, 2022 by Holminone Wrong photos and typo
nobmontana
Thanks for posting your test data!! Glad to see that you were able to find what works for you. I am surprised that 115X and 120X were similar for you. My understanding was that 115 were a lot more stout than the 120 series. Modus 120X CPM is supposed to be really close to the Modus 105S My experience with the Modus 120 S is that it is comparable to other R shafts ( from a flex perspective that is ) Anyway... my desire to try the 115 has diminished for the time being as I am switching to Regular shafts in my irons and to my understanding, Modus 115 do not come in Regular flex. Project X LZ 5.5 were my gamers but I just reshafted my '12 Tourstage GR Forged to 5.0 shafts and they are further soft stepped x 1 . For my PRGR TR500 I just installed a set of SP Red in R1 flex also soft stepped x 1 . Previously I'd thought that these regular flex shafts will do me more harm than good ... but this time around, I feel that they are going to allow me to swing easier with my irons thus improving my accuracy. I test them out today after 3 weeks of near by ranges being closed due to snow!! Fingers crossed!! 🙂

nobmontana
yea... I can agree to those graphs and where the Modus 120S is positioned. 120 is an outlier when it comes to CPM. They are so soft compared to others. bngolfer
Funny with shafts how they measure and how they play. The Crazy Target Tour 120x measured really stiff. Stiffer than a Dynamic Gold X100. However, played softer than my Modus 120S - and we have seen where they sit on the graph. The two worst feeling shafts I have ever hit are the C-Taper S and even worse the $-Taper S. Then I quite like the KBS Tour 125. Really difficult to get my head around it. bngolfer
I’m guessing your swing speed is a lot higher than mine. With a driver I’m just below 100 mph these days. Down from 112 before shoulder surgeries. I hit Rifle 7.0 in college, then 6.5. Now I’ve been fitted for LZ 6.5 but I will not go that way I think. But the C and $ requires much higher speed and power I think. Or else they feel completely dead.
Hutch
Had plenty time with the 115 now. Initial thought was somewhere in between 105 and 120 for feel, which I liked and thought closer to 120 coming off the back of the 105. Not sure this will make sense at all but these play similar to S200 with a better feel, for me…As mentioned different strokes different folks. I’m now back with Shimada 9 and NW 110 for this years set. For me. You can’t go past Shimada and modus for steel shafts.

Hutch
Better 😉 Couple of rounds under the belt Ian! Frozen blocks of best butter on the end of Samurai majik sticks. Couldn’t be happier with this build. Wedges and irons are a perfect match. DI options for the 4/23 3/20 have a real pop of the face, easy to use. Will play this set alongside the Yammy set. Could be the new benchmark for me. See how they go.
