  1. Thanks, that's interesting. I have the Tour 120 in Tour X flex and it's great. I don't think they make a TX flex in the other lines so I'm not sure if I should change or not.
  2. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.nipponshaft.co.jp/&prev=search Sorry link doesn't work. Pic added.
  3. Thanks. Why not the Modus 3 wedge shafts in X stiff though? They were designed with feedbak from Jpga pros specifically for wedge play.
  4. Tried these at the range yesterday with the standard DG S200 shafts. Brilliant all around shafts. I'll give my full review later but in the mean time I'm thinking of shafting them with 2015 Modus 3 wedge shafts. KBS has their new wedge shafts for 2015 too but they prob feel atrocious. Haha. So my questions are: 1) Do you think I should use modus 3 wedge shafts in my 52,56,60 or just my 56,60 and match my 52 with what I use for my irons? 2) Typically I play X to XX flex in irons anywhere from 120-130g so what do you think I should choose for these wedge shaft? 52 in X at 133g, then 56 and 60 in S at 122g for more head weight and more tip movement for more spin or just keep them all X flex? Appreciate the help guys!
  5. Anyone? I looked on Nippon's site and it doesn't look like the sell the Modus 3 System 3 anymore... Anyone know the differences between all three lines?
  6. Anyone have any feedback on the Basileus AAA shaft? I'm pretty interested in the tech in this shaft. I also just read someone's post on Nippon's new MB shaft with crazy state of the art tech... Sounds promising.
  7. Nice! Ya for a sicko like myself this could end up being a nice hobby!
  8. No I really enjoy it! I'm a tinkerer at heart so it's right up my alley. I also like knowing exactly what I'm getting rather than relying on someone else (perfectionist) so this is right up my alley. What I don't like is buying $1200 clubs, paying another $400 to have them built and then waiting a month to use them. Send me a PM on a price if you don't mind! Anyone else care to chime in... my main concern is shaft "tuning" "pureing", spining". Thanks!
  9. In my experience there are some excellent club builders out there and some not so good (like most things in life). I can live with that but I am getting tired of having to ship my clubs cross country, pay $70 for shipping and another $50 or so for insurance, then wait 2-3 weeks to get them back. Therefore I decided it makes sense to learn how to build clubs myself. My question to you is, what does someone who wants to start building clubs need? I already have a vice, and all the grip removal stuff, I have a shaft cutter machine and a good heat blower thingy but I don't have a proper club measurer tool, a swing weight tool, lie angle machine and what I'm most concerned about is spining or "puring" the shaft. I know a lot of people don't believe in it but I don't like leaving things up to chance so other than buying a $15,000 "pure" machine how does one test which way to install a shaft? And anything else I need please let me know! Very much appreciated!

Oh no man, I had no problem with your findings at all! In fact they were very informative as are all your posts and findings! Hell whatever works. For me personally I like the MCI's quite a bit although I agree dispersion isn't as good as steel. I was just saying to Mob he should give them a try if possible, first, before writing them off. Cheers!

Believe me, the MCI's are the real deal. They are absolutely fantastic. Supo is the man on here but what doesn't work for him may work for you. If you want effortless distance, workability and feel look no further than MCIs.

When you say Monaco X are those different than the Monaco Protos? I have Monaco Protos... Not sure where they fit in.. I hear ya on the MCI - very workable but will go dead straight too. A real pros shaft IMO. Fantastic feel and very long but yes a tad loose or flimsy or... workable I guess..
  13. I have the Modus 3 120 in TX so they are the stiffest and low/low that they sell. I think they're absolutely fantastic performance shafts (mid-high ball flight, low spin, very long, extremely accurate).
  14. How is the feel with the Monacos in the 302s? Also Stew, do you think about tipping the Monacos to take the ball flight down? iDrive, what didn't you like?
  15. Interesting posts, thanks guys. Ya the recoils perform great (distance, accuracy, etc) I just can't see to get that amazing epon feel with them in the 302s. I remember I first had them shafted with Super Peening Blues and they felt absolutely amazing. My ball striking is inconsistent to say the least so I'll reserve final judgement until I can hit a few shots pure with them (hopefully that is possible). Supo, do you find the SPB or the Modus 3 120s feel better in the 302s? As far as a 250 6 irons. I've been hitting the weights hard the past 4 months and although I'm 35 now, you really can reverse time with strength training. I feel I'm hitting the ball as far as I did when I was 27 again (when I didn't strength train). The 2011 OnOff Forged irons are long because I believe they are strong lofted so it's probably more of a 5 iron I was hitting. Every single long drive guy out there can hit a 6 iron 250 (or he wouldn't be in long drive). It's definitely not impossible. I remember at the PGA Tour Superstore their golf simulator said I hit a 7 iron 250 when I was 26 (prob not totally accurate) but 225-230 is doable. So does anyone else have recommendations for a shaft to use in the 302s?
  16. Went to the range yesterday and took my bag with a 6 iron of each of my irons. First up the Tourstage MC709. I bought the new Seven S15C irons to replace these tourstage irons but man oh man these are going to be tough to let go of. I have them shafted with MCI's and the feel is as good as anything I've ever hit. Kind of a metal sponge feel. Literally flawless and perfect. Mizuno with TT Monacos - nice and high, soft. Miura with Super Peening blue's awesome! Dense perfection! Onoff 2011 with Modus 3 120 TX flex - straight and long as anything out there. I hit a couple of 6 irons 250 yards with these and I'm not s**tting you. Incredible distance. These shafts are real performers. In wind these just cut through it. High launch but low spin. Feel is great although not as nice as the Tourstage with the MCI. Last was the Epon 302 with Recoil Proto shafts. I don't know what the hell the deal is but does anyone else have a very difficult time hitting the 302s pure? I can hit all my other irons pure but almost every swing with 302s were thin or thick. When I did hit a couple pure the gold standard Epon feel is not there with these Recoil shafts. They feel is totally muted and dull with these shafts. Great performing shafts but they totally ruin the feel in my opinion. Very odd as you'd think graphite would just enhance the feel of the already spongey Epon feel. I'd love to hear if anyone else shares this point of view.. What shaft do you think is the best match for the Epon 302s to give off that second to none Epon feel? Anyone? I might re-shaft. I haven't shafted the Seven irons yet but I did hit the new Vokey Fored for 2015 and I really like them! Very crisp, pro feeling. This is my first time using new conforming grooves and I notice no difference. These spin plenty. They are extremely versatile and the feedback and control seem excellent! One thing I found strange is the distance. They seem to go a long ways. I realize this isn't the point of a wedge but the distance seemed effortless and long for a wedge. I have them shafted with S200 Dynamic Gold shafts right now. Thinking of putting the Modus 3 wedge shafts Nippon just came out with. Thought?
  17. interesting...

    Damn nice!
  19. It's just the honest truth, well said.
  20. To me it's just more fun.
  21. I have no doubt they are! I'd take a set of Seven or Epon or Honma over these though, all things being equal. I'll be completely transparent here... part of the fun of Japanese golf equipment is not only the performance but the feeling of owning something foreign (i know these specific irons are japan only) and exotic. I've owned Bridgestone drivers (excellent!) but I do prefer a Japan only name when I'm spending $1200 or so on new clubs. Just being honest.
  22. I agree, I think Bridgestone makes great stuff but I just can't help but think of tires.

    I think you'll enjoy them!
  24. Super nice but I sure wish they would have either left it as two separate divisions or kept the Tourstage name over Bridgestone.
