  1. ROYCOLL 304 - DIAMANA X 70x. 14* 18* STRUTH talk about biting off (more) as much as i can chew. had htem in play over the wekeend ofro first time.\, good lord these are monsters. i have a set of the same heads with crazy fw80 7.4s but these BLOW those out the water for power. cud not have hit them in better conditions , hot as hell, NO wind, grass was perfect, i was hitting the ball well and these had SO much more than what i have to offer, i got into them nicely, and they went... low...long..strong.... low... i can move them about just a tiny bit for shape but not what they prefer to do, im not anywhere near fast enough for these , i think ill have to re deploy them in higher launching heads they are too much to ask as is, i think a nice set of kamuis have thier future in store. off the tee the 14* is about as good as anyrthing ive hit in the 2ew dept. went miles .. but from the deck im not up to snuff to get them to ignite to thier potential by a long way. lworked out these heads are MUCH better with flightier , thinner style shafts like the ilima or even the aliislei, the x and blue while obviosuly superb are just a tad over whats ideal , from the deck as a fairway wood. re deployment , imminent
  2. MYSTERY FW 3-5 / MUZIIK DOGATTI SIX s These are my 2nd set , i built the diamana X 3w,aliislei 5,7w combo a while ago which i just love. so much so i thought id build a wet weather / high launch set, as the diamana set is for great days , so paired the dogatti six shaft with this head and the result is about as perfect for that as ive hit. If u want to talk about an easy to hit , high rising, non static , slightly workable set up with an electric ting in fingers at impact kinda feel ..............THIS is superb! Oh, and they GO these heads are prob my longest normal fwds for distance by a non insignificant margin ( i dont count the prgr egg and ryoma d1 as normal ,they are sort of a mutation,, a good one , they are a bit special, like the kasco fd) , for day in out heads the mysterys are IT. the diamana set get some run, this new set are basically all carry in comparison. Thier only ,i wont say failing , but not ideal use is from a tee box . the more rounded high face fws are INFINITELY more suited. Ive got the driver shaft in a muziik 10.5* head so this set is PEREFCT for rain, cold winter days wet soggy no run grass days .
  3. PRGR EGG 1.. 7.5*-diamana aliiseli 73s 44.75 inch 315g long.. raking..runners. ONLY for dry fast days, easily as long as any other in my stable and a magnificent feel. eye set up is lovey at address. huge head but not a massive face which i like. def favours the right side. dont think i got itno draw once. but only missed 1 fw with it. very rewarding head that i feel gives a bit more than u put in. good miles with it. flight obv is on the lower end of mid. its not a worm burner at all. got a cpl to really soar in fact but that wasnt its forte, the ball just stopped when it landed.its preferd flight was a flat arc that gets a wriggle on. very tight dispersion. very tight and didnt feel like i needed to eat 23 eggs pregame to ignite it. veyr very good driver ill use a lot ...............when its dry. updated: been using it a but lately , and its been superb. driving the ball well of course helps, but this is adding to that. hardly missing ,let lone badly. it goes! it is for the most part, very very straight, not a mover at all , its point shoot. shaft in it has been a fabulous match , suited the head MUCH better than the labo tataki, bit higher flight, similar kind of sound but not feel, smoother softer at impact, got this with a diamana 65s ilima (red) as well and thats a very diff feel , its lighter , airier thinner BUT its powerful ,dont get the red shaft mistaken for a wand , its not.... aliislei has a diff kick as well, really like its bend point , it brings a very pleasant sound, finger feel to it. id say pretty assuradly , this is the best iteration of this head shaft combo ive had to date. one thing with it its an "all in " got at it driver and likes to have a draw swing put ont it bec with a cut swing it goes along way right quickly. the roll out with this is extreme , it specializes in dry air and on hard dry ground , get a lot more bang for your buck than u expect. this is one of the very very best.
  4. tourstage 701 : 3-5-7 diamana kaili 70s, 70x, shimada fw s This version is very strong, very powerful and punchy in ANY condition u cud name. they are great from a tee box, and easy to launch from the ground but u wont get any airmiles with them these shafts make sure of that. feel with this quality build is superb of course. used them in heavy rain adnthey did well but dodnt get the distance i do from the aliiseli set.. they tend to ride low falt and roll. , the shimada stell shafted 7w is a briliant piece prob only bested by the roycoll verison with same shaft , but this one is easier to hit > > 190yard go to clu. great for longer par 4s, long par3s, or over trees on par 5s. heck of a utility the 7, the 5 is / and can be used instead of a 3, its goes long, and will not get hung up in breeze and being much easier to hit than the 3w miles more versatile. can go the 5/7 combo on not long courses with easy and not long for a 3w. had them in all conds now and they are adequate in rain, not ideal... lights out in the wind aand heat. good selsction for winter without being ideal
  5. A thread , for times when the Driver doesnt do ....., what its payed to do! I build truck loads of tee shot clubs, short 1 woods , strong 3 woods, flightier 2 woods , i expermient with all and everything, leave no stone untured when it comes to searching for a differnt kind of club for THAT shot or day. of course there is no 1 best anwer but that doeesnt stop me trying , and heaven knows ive tried LOTS! so heres a few things that ive put together over the years , most have been very good, of course theres been moer than a fed duds and a few oh my good gawwwwwwwds................, pics always speak volumes and numbers sanctify the physical. my numbers dont come form a ball machine measruing device at a driving range with driving range balls , they come from , " oh thats where the ball ended up on a golf course fairway, " . i dont give a ratssssasss what the speed guns say , its ALL about where the ball l ends up, what flight i see, waht lateral disperison i see ON A course , down a fairway . So.. heres a start:er..., PRGR egg mfd 15* > It has to be THIS specific prgr egg head bec the others jsut dont cut it from the tee, from a fairway oh yes , they eat that up but a tee shot aint there cup-o-tea, this model is by far and away the best tee wood. i had this with many shafts but the one that worked prob the best was an 80g matirx f8m2 proto, set up was unbeatable, SO powerfull , strong and unyeliding laterally. i only broke this up bec i wanted to try that shaft in a driver head at 44 inch, which is were it is now in a yamaha v203 9*( thats coming up later) the other shaft match was a fire express original yellow/red fw 75sx good lord that was a beaut, little higher launch prob a nicer feel in fact, and long! if 3 woods at 15* are a good eye sight for you this head wil be hard to beat, of all 3 woods, buiilds from a tee, this has been my most successful. its got a big face it frames the ball unlike most others , it doernst like to go left or right at all, and its like to go wayyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyy out there. yea happy to say , this is the best 15*
  6. LINKS....wet, windy, winter......... wonderfull! what a golf trip , i spent more time swoooshing thru puddles than hitting balls BUT WHEN I DID...... i got some VERY interesting unexpected results. took 10 drivers with me, platyed on long short , wet dry wind , 10*c 23*c adn everything in between, tried my best to pair the driver with the course of course gota cpl worng but ovver all i did it well. the 3 that shon brightest and have now been permanltaly added to the links stable whilst others have been removed are:, the beast above, ryoma d1/aliislei 63s callaway tour proto 8.5*/alisile 73s , bridgestone p51 9.5* / aliislei 63s thes e drivers have cobwebs on them as builds. the forst 2 hit the middle of most faiways with rediclous certainty , they both were not " long" but 10-15 yards make a difference when ur sitting dowen the pipes???? i think not! the p51 was long and felt insane.... its long but not that forgiving. its STILL..... a masher but it can (and does) go both ways a little laterally at times when not stuck centered.. but that got the spot in the dry/sun. it IS great. i love it lvoe it love it AND it was great in wind. just not a rain dog. THE most surprrising , was the callaway/ali combo, that launched higher and with more carry that i ever thought imaginable at my speeds , and it has the kick that jsut sends balls scurrying on great impacts. by the end , i was finding it tough not to bag every day , and if it were dry and comp, it got the spot! the ryoma got the rain days bec of the gripmaster leather on it as much as the build. its jsut SO damn relaible, the others that didnt get much play awerte he ryoma 9.5/kaili combo, too low for those conds. the jbeam 435.diamana blue 63xs, same as above not enough hang time the kamui kp/x kaili and daiqwa labospec tataki.. all the same. they like low flat and running, not idea for thee conds i got. the rest i played in tandom with others on prac rounds.. srixon zr30/tataki 73s..callaway 9.5*/stinger, TMtp09/bimatirx. unfiortuanly they just wernt suited to the conds. if i had to choose " just one" for the tour............................................. ryoma d1/ Aliisle 63s... its just SO , SO easy to play.
  7. SRIXON 945mb: IMO..THE best srixon mb theyve done. thers more tech packed in these than another mb ive come accross, bar none. vsole. cross milled face tungsten weights in longer irons. endo forged . mid size , thicker top line, mid wide sole, very chunky solid compact head . at address, it looks blocky and powerful , between edgey and rounded its a very nIce look. the thought is these will "go" . and they do they seem to go a tad longer then pure mbs but its not by much 46* pw is stock. the scoring irons have a lower flight to then them weighting isnsuch that they are amde for knocking at pins. the longer irons are more flighted. u dont have to swing for the fences . impact of course is pure ENDO soft and dense. off centerd misses hard to differentiate, good ones simply melt in your hands. the score lines are such that ball slipping is reduced ESP when its wet.and u can get some good spin esp with cut fade shotd the ball really zips. i dont put them as Pure blade bec of their size , rather a muscle backed iron , they are as good as anything ive hit in bad conds and are verstaile to play in all manner of grass from soft fluffy jpn bermuda to tough as teak dry aussie kaikuya buffalo . the more i play them the better they get and the higher their stocks surge. these are 100% a one stop set for all conds more so than anything else other than maybe , the epon aftours. ....
  8. RYOMA D1- DIAMANA ALI ISLEI 63S 10.5* Eaaaaaaaaaasy. softer, sweeter, flexy with more lateral dispersion possible without being a whip. mid high flight mostly carry. does need a higher teed up ball to optimise the head shape and maximise flight launch. teeing it lower doesnt work on this head at all. nothing but worm burners if u do. absolutle top of the ronge daily driver for any all conds. played it on links with steady wind yesterday and it was great 11/14. lost one right and its near hard to loose left, but .. i can draw it just a wee bit . it wasnt overly long and didnt feel long either. but i was happy where the ball went but never wowed. such an easy to play driver build good for moist summer conds. very very nice to play . doesnt need crushing. smooth and steady are its forte. great build
  9. and yet here they sit..sttill
  10. i have to give a mssive thumbs up to the royma d1 GD pt6x . i played it on the weekend, and was hitting the ball well so i got this thing to ignite! its a bit longer than normal @ 45.25 inch \, which i dont like at all but for some reason on this head it works brlliantly. fligh was perfect. i still need to tee the ball a fait bit higher to get up on it but that doesnt translate to airy, balloons with no roll. its perfect. lateral movement to a bare minimum, only movement i saw was on poor shots where i cut it a bit it just " went" right a bit, not that bad distance loss and not in the bush. good ones were RIGHT up there with any thing i have. really liked lookiung at hte head shape again, , ive not played this much at all but that wil change. its got an excelelnt combo of flight to roll, the conds were fast hot humid, no wind this EXCELLED, im gonn ahve to sy more so that the one iused last weekend , the kamui 07/stinger combo. might be bec. i was hitting ti better but i actually enjoyed it more! Might just have won a bag spot to oz for tha annual festival of the links starting in a cpl of weeks. The shaft ......... its very much about the shaft, the PT has long been a fave of mine and this iteration of it cud be the best. its got an electric click to it and a bend point thats noticeable at impact. Tits really good feel, no as tight as the DIAMANA X series, but nicer to play. i didnt find i needed to be really switiched on with it, where as the X i do. i have a 9* with a diamana ilima red 70s and against this, wasnt a fair fight, some heads seem to prefer some sahfts this is NOT an ilima match , that was startlingly evident\. this set up is , as Rors said, ineveitable.
  11. RANKING THE LATEST BUILDS ...... > DISTANCE > astro tour V3 grey ghost 10* - diamana x 60s. every time i take this out , i get a one of those moments... " sheeeeeeeeeesh, got that , thats gone MILES!" every..............time. i SHUD play htis more. ACCURACY > KAMUI tp 07 9* - diamana kaili 60x not the longest. but uneringly straight with any morphed swing i put on it. shape suits my eye So well. so much confidence with this set up, sent it back to the links to live. Very low launch , incredible sound, feel. just a wonderfull club for hiting straight drives. CARRY > astro tour v2 11* - GD pt6x High, soaring bomber. not a balloning spinny sheister, this gets up right away, loves to go straight, over trees, but not round corners. great in the wet, hard to loose it laterally. great feel. ALL ROUNDER > TIE...CALLAWAY FT 9 PROTO diamana stinger 70s / kamui pro kp-01 10* diamana stinger 70s both are great to take out on any course , distance is great , dont miss with them often, flights great. they are bag spot A+ for all conditions, wind rain, dry, they just out and out perform. ive been gravitating to these more than most for $$$$ games, when i can only game 14 clubs as opposed to my usual 20ish for muck about rounds. Favourite > tourstage p51 ai chan 701 9.5* - diamana stinger 70x. love taking this out , head shape is awosme, pear shape, small face. frames the ball well. can adjust tee height for diff shots, get out there without being short or long high nor low. feel is excepetional as ud expec with all ENDO mfg. , sound is lovely , more dull muted toing than tink, can feel the shaft thwack. + i dont lose it lateally much , it hits faiways pretty often, usually a decent way down there. looks oldschool class as well in the bag, i get questions and lookswhen i bag it BEC it dorsnt look like one of today behemouths. its a players driver and it plays awsome. can use it for consequence golf ( comp or $$$$) but id usually chose another, course dependant , def a daily driver, adn up there with the yamaha 203s for looks/class.
  12. srixon zr-30 9.5* - matrix f6m2xs 44inch 314g mini driver that AINT mini waht so ever. this thing is foooookeeeeeeen unreal. can do anyhthing with it, see any shot > low tee , high tee, mass hooks , slice the ears off it, high soraing bombs or low punchy stingers. its all on the table with this! not being funny it CUD be close to my most complete driver. feel is exemplary, sound is superb, looks awsome. fit is right on. not THE longest over all distance club in my stable by any means but certaily NOT a slouch, it getsout there and usually down the pipes, takes some really crappy swing to muck this up but that will muck anything up. i use this on short tracks, its IDEAL for my short links back home ,where i forsee alot of play these holdiays. had it on the range VS 3 of my other shorties and i think i have to say, this might be my preferd set up. wonderfull driver and this head , IF u ike smaller comapct heads.......... is AWSOME!!!
  13. small reality check yesterday. A mates 26yr old son came to tplay a cpl of games this wekeeend needed clubs so gave him my yamaha 2011 v203/ diamana kaili 70s build. 14 yrs old now. this thing... hes was easily averaging 270+ yards carry with it , cpl ended way past 300y all in , easily, he was flipping wedges in while we 50+ mortals were htitng 6, 7 irons. i had to check it was back in my bag at the end of the weekend. ..." hey S can u get me one of these ? , ive not hit a ball with such feel and love as this thing its miles nicer than my gamer , he plays a new c paradym at the mom. " well tis here if u need it isays....., new always better huh, seems , NOT!
  14. BUCHI MT201 prototype i added these recently and have had some teething problems with them , when they are good they are very very good....... but of late they have been sensational. finally got them wired a few times in a row to make a significant impact on my confidence playing them on top courses 1 chose 5-pw as im hitting my big fat old 4i by prgr so well no point with these having a knife 4. small. thin. rounded. kinda of have a slight old sckool gooseneck with out being goose neck , hard to explain, flat sole but with bounce, hard to explain pics do it MUCH better, U know when u hear those explaianations esp on drivers.. pro level but have a ton of forgivness...... made for GI but can go miles , u knw u gotta that that with a grain of salt. so what im suggesting here or trying to imply is ALMOST the same with these , they are shaped as such they are like scalpels on hard pan , as good as ANY for those conds, but they have bounce to them that makes hitting out of rough easy and off thicker juicier grass a delight. i know........ shoot me , but its true, in fact more so than both the honmas and tourstage. when ooking at the ball at address , the head shape frames the ball bigger than it is becd they have aa higher toe and a bit shorter lenghth , with a top line that has some body to it, some weight , some power , where as the toursatge re thinner and all knife like , these have some oomph to them similarly to miuraism sb01 but rounder, sb01 are rectangular. these are rounded. impact .. well with steel shafts ( ns 105) its typical kyoei esque, not butter soft , more dense, firm, punchy. great feel our of the middle , less so on miss**ts. with the DGL shafts, my god that was a master stroke shaft selection match. lights it up.. that carbon twang takes a smidge of that densesness away and adds some rubber.... wonderouw feel. out of the middle is like an elsastic band snappeng. misshts are no where near as annoying. the dgl set have gone stra8 to my faves alreaady a much for the flash ook as the playaility. pled in th wet and thye didnt miss baeat .even from the rough > next job fnd more of these shafts..! design looks- outstanding, they font on these looks superb thye REALLY look like a top of the run club. Tabuchi san did a heck of a job with these. ill let the pics talk now......................... ive said enough
  15. Im going to add more to this bec as far back as a few days ago its clear, BORON IS A LONG WAY from being.. dead. i have a bunch of older 2011/2012/13 ish , Yamaha endo forged v series heads , bascaily made of the best material there was (is) , great shape 425/440/460 cc heads amazing feel i took to Mr wiard and said what do u think, he s just done the 7d yamaha for me and said why not do them all with yuor best shafts bec there is no better head..... 13 yrs on........................ , u know wht i kind of agree with him. lots of great heads out there but better than an ENDO made no expsnse spared one ?? , sorry, no so stinger 70s. diamana x 70s crazy black 80 7.4 seven dreamers 65xs all went in to the YAM heads basically the same length, specs all 9-10* lofts. i finally took them all out for a lets see sesshy, just the yams un diluted with my others to see what was the "best". -Range balls but good bridgestone balls that dont fall out of the sky after 150 yards, these are like good quality " cheap : balls so its a fair test not being able to hit them on the course like i usually do to definitively test my hoards. ihit a TON of balls in hot humid ,no wind day. after warming up i hit 10 balls with each driver session 1 then had a break . - decided to start with the Xshaft from2014 @ 10*.. (my god this is about as a good a club as ive hit , the feel is like what id call perfection. slightly higher ball flight but flat and reaching , searching for distance. it didnt like to whip about laterlly too much but its more than doable. shaping this IS possbile , i have the 2017 shaft but thats in my jbeam 435 black and prob not likey to come out anytime this century. as an aside there IS a differnce in 2014/2017 but its so minimal its almost undetectable in a driver ,in a fw wood is where i can tell. -next up was the crazy black 80 7.4............, im not 100% sure what i think about this in a driver its SO stiff and dense and LOW , if ur not on your game at the top of ur game , this thing KILLS you its just not for the light hearted. its a proper beast. i was hitting the ball well so i was getting it to ignite a bit but in all honesty i cud go down a flex in this shaft and enjoy it more. i hit it well and saw its character but id not reach for it often and not in a comp bec its such as task master. of all the shafts this was the least suited to the YAM head and i think it wud be better served in my kamui top 07 10.5* , i think thats what i wil do with it bec it was , by a ways my least fav and had the biggest legnth dispersion results. def the shortest but also he second longest on a single oomph hit. - Diamana boron stinger was next. longest single blow. tightest dispersion laterally but second biggest legnth dispersion. when i top it a bit , its a proper worm buner BUT not as bad as the crazy. miss left, right on the face and i wasnt getting punished THAT bad. wasnt great of ocurse but yea none went ob they were all on first cut. totally acceptable. flight is low mid. its hard to launch this high even with high tee it just prefers to go flat and straight, i have enormous confidence reaching for this bec. i know im just never going to get munched with it and when i get into the ball proper i get FULL reward with distance. this has been so for years with so many heads ive had on them, the jbeam 435 70x ive got and never changed is STLL my go to for the longest courses i play as much as i try all.. theres a reason thsi thing is never out of reach. granted it doesn feel that good esp in the jbeam, in the yam it livens up a lot, in the kamui its awsome.. but for this test its a great match with the ENDO head. -Last of course was the 7d its funny bec. i play this the least of all my drivers. 7d has a feel to it quite unlike others , it i was going to say the closest it wud be the matrix tp6hd. i get this to soar, its laterally moveable both ways to a NON insignificant degree nad for sure its THE most consistant build of the lot of them, i dont get the huge distance i can get with the boron but if grouping is key, this is the lock for that. they go left , right more than the other build for sure but theres never a 30 yard distance gap i can almost go and put the ball to a disntace but i never find i get a "wow" moment with it for length , the wow factor with my 7d comes by moving it in the air more easily then walking up to the ball all the time and know its in play to where i was trying to put it. i tend to pay this when i play fwd tees or when its set. the extra carry and workabilty is its defining character for me. In this company , as a daily driver id choose the 7d followed by the X . 7d gives me a tickle unlike the rest, theres an extra spice to it the others have less of bec its more moveable BUT.. id reach for the X when i want to play comp or the stinger when i play long. the crazy is going to get DFA's it jsut cant hang , it needs a diffstyle head. i have NO doubt that overall when i want to go fo he longest starighets shots, the boron is the answer. its been so long ago and as recent as a few days back it still so. it also prob helps when at release of the latest offfering came out from diamana at the trade show in 2018 the head shaft designer of MITSUB CHEM tells me to stock up on as many X and BORON as i can find coz they wont be making them again.........................................
  16. HONMA TW 727 sakata japan forged s25s. thin, small compact body but with a mid thick top line. very little off set. THE most beautiful lines on the body of any club, bar none. stock shaft DG s200. @ 37.75 5i if u like to picture a shot then go after it with supreme confidence the ball will follow that path, as far as ive got , MB wise , these are the best for that. the pw ( which i hate in cbs as a rule ) , on this set, CUD easily be a replacement wedge for ANY otther set. its the best looking PW ive seen. 46* so stock loft these days. ok , so im asked about feel differences .. as we know on MBs theres a lot due to thier size. from the " middle center " off a cast POS $2 barn find f in the 1970 to a miuraism sb-01 theres subtle difference but they will all feel good.. its the not so much the midled shot that the quality and preference really come to the fore its the slightly non centre where i notice the big differnces. so these 727s .. oh , and ive also got some cast homnas form way ago il post baout soon and the differnce between those and these is" noticeable"... but vs other high quality forged blades is what we all wanna know. they are small compact but not razor thin. they do have a modicum of thick substance to them so.. they dont tend to be elbow breakers at all...get one high and away off the toe, its gonna fell crap.. BUT not as crap as non forged. onto that later.. if ur playing MBs u can prob hit the middle a fair bit, and these are realllllllllllllllllllllly nice , they sound incredible , in fact my mate plays them and when he flushes one we all look back.. they DO have a sound thats different ot other mbs.. u get a bit more than u put in WHEN u crush it, its intoxicating to hear. they have a soft and very dense muted sound/feel to them ( dgs200) u get pop, they wont break distance records but they are no slouchs, in fact.. these are prob the clsoest feel to the the sb-01s as ive hit . the best bit with these for me is the shape lends itself to hitting high cuts as well it does to raking draws. most irons i have favour one over the other slightly and its the sole line that does it on these , in fact these are THE no 1 is for hitting cuts. GOOD to go at pins! some clubs i replicate with differnt shafts, THESE are one of those sets like the toursatge marus , i have 3 727 sets.. dgs200, NS130s protos in copper and a spare set i travel with. ive bssn deciding what shaft to put in but they playso well as it is.. ill eventally go a set of diamana OTi ithink.., they play beautifully in my A-grinds but just not got aroudn to it yet. yea.... not many can out do these for all shots and not kill you when u miss , they are playable in all conds all grasses more so than others. very good set that wer eth alst to eb foreged at sakata befre thye wre " sold " to other intersts... check these out...
  17. this is what is possible with the Marus, they are an absolutely magnificent finish . but.. copper is NOT to be played from the sand. take another one for that! bottom pics are not marus they are xwedge, but one session in the bunker and check the sole.... makes no odds to the play but the look..!! hit from grass only
  18. TOURSTAGE maru / mr23 These just might be my fave set of pure ,straight up Mb of them all. There are more revered, more precious ,more sohpisticated options out there but for THE most simple , complete players MB , they are at the top of my pile , Due in no sml part to the shape of the 8/pw . I first found them not long after they came out early 2000s and have a had a set ( or 2) in play most of that time. my current set(s) will last me still i stop playing , one set is with stock chrome ENDO forged / DGs200 set 3/pw in fabulous nick i keep for links the other it with NS Super Peening orange, as musch as a cant fault the way they perform with the DGs200s the NS give them a little something extra thats hard to illucidate in words but in the hands its clear. The DG ones are my travelling set down under , ESP to the sand belt in Melb , they suit those cond as good as any club ive ever played. i take these and a set of prgr tr500s down there, i dont even bother with anything else anymore. The copper set set were S. Maruyama's actual 2004 US masters set. ., they only get used on special course days to preserve them as much as i can. i swapped out the N226v X by NS, for a set of shimada 3001s constant weight and Masda slicks. ...........THAT was a good swap. these play for me JUST perfeclty , a little lower, a little flatter. but can make them do what they were made to do, fizz about with the courses requirements. these are def Not long , just precise , the pw is 47* Slight difference , they are NOT the same as the retial version , slightly more compact with a bit less off set and a thinner top line with a shorter hosel and thicker muscle, not much.. but u can see it. I discussed this with Chris yrs ago, even tho they were ENDO forged, both tourstage and yanaha DONT have that soft pillowy fluffy cusshy EPON /ENDO/ONOFF feel to them , they are noticeably denser , thicker, deeper at imapact u know where u ahve hit the ball all the time. is it better or or worse.......... thast for the observer to decide ,for me, i think it suits this head perfectly. the copper set however.......... ARE pillowy !
  19. Always wanted to do a MB thread here as i play so many of them. so , heres a few ive hit play played over the eons. hope others chip in.
  20. KAMUI kp -tx 14.5*- 17.5* (CRAZY FW 80 flex 7.7sx + 19.5 diamana kaili 73s added another set of thes e bec the diamana set were so good i left them im oz for links. this set is WAY mre powerfull sleek shape.. target milling on face.. sheeeeeesh.. these are something good to hit off the deck.. FLIGHT IS lower but not low low , no danger of worm burning but merecats beware! Love the flight. , distance is really good, hte harder i go at these the better h they perform and they are hard to miss with. VERY shapeable head shape but with these shafts it tales LOT of that ability out , the diamanas much easier to move about , this set is much more about accuracy and precision than zinging about laterally , they are not " ideal" from the rough ,both shape and loft wise, vs say the SYB set , but off short stuff these are frreeeeeeeken awsome. this set has been in the bag for a bit and having a tough time changing them when i pay comp tracks. ** added the 19.5* with diamana alislei 73s for a higher floatier soft landing 210-225 yard club . what a success !!!!!! amazing feel >MUCH nicer than the crazy feel mugh higher but not ballooning it goes high and roll over giving it a sembalnce of charatcer not just a hot air balloon club. magnificent for working it about abit. tops out i think at 220 ish so far. not quite the choie for off the tee. ihave 7 wood by crazy with a stinger in it that is for that. that won easliy in comparion. but for off the truf this is sesnatiunal.
  21. Re shafting a cpl of MODARTS.. 14* , 16* i had a a diamana X 70x in the 16* but it was tipped a bit too much to be a good match for this head , the modart heads have AN extremely dense FULL feel to them and ive found prefer an airier , livelier feeling shaft to bring it to its real life. hence they are getting the diamana ilimas or alisislei . its like hitting a benock putter the fleeing cant quite be rebuilt in another head, its def a one off feel. they dont launch high either for a low rider sleek head, its very much a fairway wood / non tee option and for slicker grass fairways. the 14.5* had a crazy black 80 but that was all but impossible to get off the ground unless i flushed it 100% of my ability. after hitting some diamana ILIMA red bords , yesterday it was CLEAR, this wud be a great match for both these heads with its higher , lighter, airier launch characteristics. ive got a ton of fairway woods, but nothing i have has quite the fell of MODART. they are not as playavble as others due to the sleeknes of them esp in the wet or the rough. but on true fast short grass. nothing i have is as satifying to hit...............albeit it needs the right engine which i havnt quite got to yet with these. ilima or actually aliiseli : ponderous.............
  22. KAMUI KP-X 9.5* -matrix Hd6 sx. 44 inch 312 g. built almost for looks alone. My bud had a cpl of unused marix shafts sitting about non preped i bought and re shafted a cpl of older awsome heads with them. the tp6 got the srixon zr30 which is gaming as asecondary muini driver a lot and this one got the kp-x . u know... , the the older heads are just so much nicer fhan the new in my book. so this one has a very light swing weight and itds very partial to be straight pulled in to the trees!!!!! i need to think about this, its NOT for shaping its way , way too low spin to try and get funy with , its point shoot ONLY. even when i try cut it , just doesnt wann go. funny club, not sure of this yet, its in training mode. so far im getting Very very straigh,t lower flight , i need to tee the ball quite a bit higher for any kind of launch /carry, when i get this fromthe meat my gawdddddd it goeth!!!!! forget the fact its shorter so there not as long this thing fookeeeen crushes balls but so far ive not even come clsoe to any consistencey with it its very much a project in the works. This will be a short par 4 specailsit. Im tinken its gonna finally be suitable for my home course on about 6 holes so def worth working with it.. I noted vs the same build with diamana stinger, the latter is much more meaty full dense impact , both hit the balls a long way for a short build and straight. this shaft is very low spin with excellent control . imight neeed to pump up the weights in it tho........., looks, superb!
