  1. i had to revist this.. i hit these agan on the weekend after a long hiatus, ive been playing BIG ol cavities of late, epon af tours, yamaha forged, prgr idlbs , that kind of head, so decided on a " my smallest set day " these irons, crazy 16 fw, RC 250cc driver, matsumoto HM blade, prgr nabla wedge, thin, small, compact. funny thing is i LOVED it . at first coming back to small is a bit disconserting, esp when one gets on the tee hits a cut to the first cut-o-ruff, on the first and the grass is LUSH. and the ball is .........sorta submerged....................... gulp. out cometh the 6 iron, thwack, deep into the back of it and out it flies with half an acre of subashiris finest cow food attached to the back of it. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... this might be a tough day if i do this all day long. luckily that happened not and i drove it well and got to try these all over again. now, i have a bunch fo really nice irons that are made to spec for optimising feel and performance, this set has NS 1050 x in them SST pured ,which i can assure you all iwas NOT made as a micky mouse touchy- feely set , tis a set up that was made for me a while ago when i once was quite fruity and cud get amonst it . this shaft is taught which i rediscovered. so , on the the par 3 17th , 158y always tends to play into the wind , which is a FULL 7 iron for me now that wil never go long. i hit 4 of these to the centre of the green like a swing matron robot , CARUsssseHD them, suffice to say i u cud not put the 7 down.... my buds had to usher me on... the feel is out of this world..... absolutley, TRUELY magnificent , the flight is a thing of beauty, high soaring arc, the combo of the taught shaft and the copper unlderlay on satin plating is just intoxicating. they are workable as good as any, the flight does NOT balloon, impacting that tiny thin sole is akin to a vulture pikcing the bones clean on a week old dead zebra left to bake in the sun . for a set of MBs 30 yrs old...... to feel like these do WITH non feeley shafts, says to me, theres not a lot of improvement to irons over the last 30 years... in fact.... i dont think i cud put thes any lower than at the very TOP OF THE RONGE. had a very good ballstriking round which totally rekindled my love for all things small again. tell you what, i say it time and again ,just bec its old ( and really 30 yrs now is getting on a bit ) , that dont mean its worse, these, are awosme.!

    blue white cadero grip sold.
  3. peole call u a wuz for having iron covers to protect $3k irons , does that work for drivers and putters as well ? thats absurd, i NEVER not take covers for every club. i dont get tgat 1 iota.
  4. taylor made tp -09 jpn ed. 9.5* (endo) / diamana kaili 70s Right, if ever i want to make sure , like really really make sure i hit a fairway with even a crappy swing goin on , then this thing is one of the top contenders id reach for in my posse of long sticks. ive now got 2 of these , one OS with a 100g bimatrix blue at 44 inch for links play in awful wind and this new one i pilfered from a buddy. yes , that does say 2009......... a thousdand years ago driver head which not only holds it own in feel and looks against the best ever latest releases, its SMASHES THE FK outta them. Its so clean it looks like my bud never even used it, i traded it for an astro tour 11* with diamana aliislei 63s which he absolutely loved and got him a bit more easy flight to work up to some speed again , both are satisfied traders. the 09 head has an electric ting at impact which is enahnced nicely by the KAILIS mid kick, mid launch denser characteristics, its a very different feel to the ILIMA ive been hitting of late, there is NO similarity in feel / flight what so ever here, the ILIMA has a much more instant luanch to it, its flies high but flat, the KAILI is flatter, lower and MUCH punchier impact, a better chioce for higher lofted heads and faster swing speeds, this shaft has been put in a TON of my recent fairway woods builds last 18 months, for damn good reason~~~!!! Its not an overly long ball lama, not by any stretch , esp these days but its NOT 30 + yards behind my big guys either. its about 15 id guess,, which is enought to take notice of for sure but when out and out distance done matter that much and confidence / accuracy do , then this is when this guy gets the call up ive been co gaming it with a jbeam 435 and my astro tour and it looks very much easier to hit a fairway with at address if u have many and varied to choose from. i never think im gonna crush it but i never think im gonna miss my aim point either. its not a big dogs club anymore, but for anyone looking for a realatively compact triangle back shaped head that inspires a TON of confidence to get the ball to a spot , then im hard pressed to choose a better one. others in this realm are the onoff type s ryoma d1 royal coll prgr egg 7 these came straight into my thinking for my best fairway finders ive hit. that kaili shaft mid summer is a DEF winner.
  5. reshafted one of mine again recently. 17* this time. its just a fantastic fairway wood. gets high, loads of carry but it runs , esp the15* . ill onlt play this or tue ryoma when its really long. god ilove this head . dont sell it!
  6. stll the mack daddy...
  7. ah.. yes, this rings a bell with me. ive reshafted about 10 -15 of my putters this seaon. its such a simple thing to do. i bought a bunch of shimada stepless( a while back , love those shafts , there nothing super " special " about them except they look awsome with the one peice tubing and give the impact a taught feel. i esp like them in deep milled faces. with a red iomic absolute X on it. my fave NS purples had sold out or what was left had jumped so high in price i didnt bother anymore so, for super light im not being funny but the old mamiya frequency filter shafts are STILL as good as anything for magnifing the head impact thru the swing. from memory they come in about 110g , maybe less bunch of yrs back i had most of my putter with these shafts , a whole swag of golds and ive kept them in a fair few , alwas think about changing them untill i play them check these deets on a 360g golds YAMADA CUSTOM mod of mine. Total Weight: 517g Head Weight: 360g Swing Weight: E5.0 Lie Angle: 69° Loft Angle(Sole): 4° Real Loft Angle: 4° Face Angle: 0°open / Shaft Angle: 0°open ( try getting this done any where ) Frequency: 338cpm Shaft: UST Mamiya FF Shaft 34" Grip: Gold's Factory Original(Black) custom yamada for my 12011th bday a laqod of years back. i keep trying to reshaft his with a " modern shaft . but each time i play it i go, why???? in my mind this shud have a muziik dogatti or diamana in it but after asid round on the prac green irealise ite perfect as is. which kind of annoys me bec i do want the best avaialbe in it proves to me that shaft is n0 slouch. my builder tolfd me when they came out these were the most advaned light weight tech on the mkt for a redciulously good pice and did exactly what they do, make the head feel very alive. have to concur , that they do. give one of thoese oldies a try as well , doubt ur going to hate it.

the oldies but for me, the besties... now ive hit a fw or 2 over the season , but i gotta say there isnt a thng of more simplicity, beauty and feel than these . prob not ieal for your higher capper but if ur comfy giving the pill a toink AND like pieces not just for play but for esoteric then .. ALL IN on RC.
  9. supo replied to chiromikey's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
wow , thats some reco for the shaft. hmmmm.. i did like the look of this but now i think its very busy.... i cant pass over the oldies from RC and that thump at impact. ive become such a traditionalist when it comes to looks . simplicity takes my eye all day, this is a very different stlye to the ones i have , love t hit this but i dont think i cud game it. RC have made the cream of the crop fwd for so long. theres no possibility of htis NOT being good.

this is great. EXACTLY WHAT ID EXPECT from tsg'ers THANks FELLAS. the one i was "recod was the XT but i hated the diamana white, yuk. prob the only diamana shaft ive not like. hmmmmmmmmmm ok i might give that XM a peep, its for a cpl of fwds as ive run out of stingers and the sky is falling!!!! been using kailis of late and i have fallen in love allover again which is no surprise as its kind of the retial verison of the stinger specs wise , looks are killer as well, makes it go longer! had a flutter with quadra and they are very top end ,but i guess when u know a sahft so wel its hard to change . also , a cpl of crazy 8os have been on the go as well, man those things are TAUGHT!, not sure if hteres a better feelign shaft on the planet than the old crazy series. utterly addicitve. not the hghest launch by a long way but ifu never want to be under powred then these are the go.

never hit one ,looking for some real world play thoughts by NON pros pls. got a cpl of juicy fw heads that are looking for a shaft...................,
  13. dont guarantee its gonna be better........ for eg. i rehit the ryoma yesterday d1 3w. thats got a feel of its own. tight lie fairway. that and the modarts,oh and the ORIGINAL egg spoon which i re did and sent back to oz for links are still the most enjyable fws to hit. deeper grass, the RC f series, and cv take my cake. hotter temps here have seen an increase in ball distance for us by a signifacnt degree, back in are the stingers and dia X shafts. the NS protos and mons are also in lay on irons. there really is a difference in summer winter golf. th RC are back i nthe bag form now as well, out go the sleek FWs above.
  14. i wont say much except just bec its new....

  21. if u like the head but just want a bit of relief id jsut give the shaft a bit of a tweek. ive gone back to all time faves this season, not even looked and a new nad best........ the kaili in fairway woods has been aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh awe inspring. so much so i had to put one in an old TP09 9.5* driver head for fun and its been great., bit more workable and mid flight but its gets right out there with the big dogs of later vintage. had it in play yesterdy as well. not a com-laint cud i hear. thats a step down formteh diamana X i play as a rule and u can notice it in impact and felx , but its not "worse" just a bit ..........typical where as the X is uber dynamic. feel is BIG. ives till got all my unicorns but i dunno going back a smidge hasnt been a bad thing waht so ever. prob given me a bit more power towards teh end of the games in fact. for instance.. driver- , 7d,diamana X/stinger to kaili/ilima yes a big diference in feel esp off the middle but much easier to miss a bit and not try nad kill. enjoying them right now but in mid summer (next weeked) ths big guys come back out. fairways- diamana stinger,X, fire express proto crayz black 80 to kaili, muziik dogatti , ali islei in the same heads , i can notice a very discernable difference over all so far thsi season. been good to hone , but now all the big ones back i nthe bag. gotta say the dogatti 6 in a fairway wood has been a very eye opening experiment. super easy to ignite, mid+ flight, quite workable , very veyy nice feel , pretty electric, built that for a a bud but he took an ali islei 60s one instead so i kept it for winter, spring, really liked its perfoamnce and doesn t need to be killed to get it to work. back in bg a tho from thsi week. kamui tp 09 / 7d kamui tp 07 / diamana X 60x jbeam black 435 / stinger 70x astro tour v2 / diamana X 70s getting toasty finally overhere , balls are going noticeably further ,def higher and feel is INSANE npw. premium times mean premium gear. might bust out the NS protos in prgr tr500s again now as well! best score this season yesterday and felt great.
  22. ryoma d1 9.5* / diamana ilima 70s/ 10.5* diamana stinger 50s an oldie but one the besties low. wow forgot how low this head launches as a rule. straight, almost no ability to shape it. set up dead straight and flat at adress this thing jsut says go that way and no other. not being funy didnt even try and shape , no point , its one way or the high way, loved the change of look. actually not many ive got have the same visual that back up its play prowess. this LOOKS like it hits low . piercing and straight an thats 100% what it does. i dont know how many of these ive had over the yeears, my alst one had a stinger in it @ 10.5 which when nailed was sublime but it was a driver that needed 100% impact to active , the shaft change to the ilima has made a big difference . the shaft feels a bit airier /thinner / lightler profile in hands and give me a lot more scope to NOT cream it 100% and not get killed. its a nice insurance policy. gott be able to give tit some welly tho , need swing speed to activate this or it just wont work well, my buds 10 mph lower and he cudnt get it to work at all. hated it. good............. ,means he wont nick thIS one! not for flying trees, for disecting the short stuff. took me 1 drive to get used to it again. played this head as much as any other since 2009 i think i ts a love it or no way ,too low, dont suit . which is why so many of these got moved on so early years ago and the d1 maxima got taken up so well, pesoanlyl i didnt like the maxima 1 bit , the d1 was always my go to. shaft difference is EXTREMELY noticeable. makes the 9.5* a more forgiving set up. the stinger was great in it in10.5* and that is a keepr but this shaft makes its a much easier driver. it does take s bit of time to get used to the feel iys kinda dull but the ilima is a higher launch shaft for the ages for sure. its a good build. 10.5* with stinger shot below.
