Joe Kwok is in the Bay Area !
  2. Actually thats a bit counterintuitive BUT i have been experiencing this with the modus 120.....smooth easy swings give me good trajectory and when i swing full out, the ball goes lower ???? this has eliminated my ability to hit my knockdown !!! But i love the flight of these shafts and the way they perform. They are great even in windy conditions which is rare for smooth/soft shafts
  3. hmmm...the vspec is a low spin head.......how about a DJ-6s to bring spin up !
  4. Actually I have not BUT i have removed the old nippon 950gh graphics with paint remover.....i use a orange jelly that is made for stripping paint....brush it on and wipe off with a soft cloth....no damage to metal !
  5. I play bettinardis and they are very well finished.....in terms of feel, it depends on the material, i dont like inserts so i stay away from those.....with bettinardi, they have DASS, Copper, and Carbon Steel as well as various platings......I play a handmade CS mallet made of carbon steel and it works well for me....My other favorite includes the older dass half mallet . has a shape similar to the Odyssey Rossie
  6. The ly02 is made for smooth swingers but it works for me quite well....im pretty aggressive but it doesnt seem to let me overpower it........a very good shaft ! it weighs in the high 50s but feels like a 60 plus gram shaft, very smooth and silky.....doesnt kick super hard but kicks out predictably !
  7. Love the modus 120.....they feel like a heavier 950gh with slightly more kick !

Hmmm....straight grips....ive heard of them but i dont know anybody who has played them and reviewed them......interesting concept !
  9. my newest toy seems to be very well balanced ! A Yamaha v202 ( non-tour ) with a crzy ly02.......pretty good length, very nice feel and forgiving.....If i had to complain about something,it is that it is hard to move the ball, it seems this club prefers to go straight ! this club rivals the crazy 435 II for best balanced club ! The crazy is a wee bit longer but the yammy is better feeling and a wee bit more forgiving ! Control is about the same for both !
  10. u can use some paint remover and the graphics are gone

because the grips are tapered, the grip actually feels much thinner when you choke down half an inch or more.....
  12. After the Zcom stinkers, i never went back to fujikura.......I think the demise of the fujikura brand came when Mr Woods took to Diamana !

Hey Stew, build up the grip a bit lower on the shaft so that the grip feels the same when you choke up half an inch on the shaft and add some lead tape so the head feels the same swingweight when you choke up half an inch....If u find out that this feels great then chop the half inch off !
  14. love the modus and the pxi.....lots of kick in these shafts
  15. with the crazy 435 II, it was not the easiest to get airborne if you had a flat angle of attack... I teed the ball up and hit the ball up into the sky....I could hit bullets into the air that would carry forever.....my playing partner who is a +2 and has 120 swing speed could not get that combo airborne either, but i had no issues with that.....i would prefer it higher but on windy days that setup is perfect.....trust me the 9 deg Yamahas launch at about the same height !!!
  16. I still play fujikura from time to time but only the older stuff.....my all time fav was the Fujikura 771 TA and the Sapphire, followed by the Pro 95.....and the speeder six was a great light weight shaft but only the lightblue color model......somehow when fujikura changed the graphics, the shafts felt funky !!!!! I never bought any more fujis after that.....i still have a small stash of stuff like my favs as well as 857 boron and the 757 original black series and the dark gray series
  17. I think the yamaha v202 is as close as i can get to nirvana......longest overall distance and best feel combo.....certainly not the longest but very long, not the best feeling but very very solid, and one of the best looking with lots of forgiveness and good workability......not perfect but damn close !
  18. i have gamed all those drivers and found good aspects about each one.....the non conforming ray gave me the most cary distance while the 435 gave me the longest total distance but a shorter carry, and the ryoma gave me the best average driving distance, i found the Kamui NC to be too loud and the 43 a bit harsh....the ryoma was pretty darn good but the lie angle was a bit too flat for me. I found the Yamaha 4.6V to be the best in terms of all categories except forgiveness.....Its a bit weird with the yammy, the ball still goes great when i hit it off center but the hit will feel terrible......I am amazed at how far the yammy goes even though the hit felt terrible, the ryoma and Kamui are exact opposites, they feel great even on mis**ts and the distance suffers a bit more than the yammy ! My V201 plays similar to the 4.6V and im hoping the V202 is my new gamer......and maybe just maybe the epon af101 !!! The 9.5 had too much spin so i went to 10.5 deg which sounds crazy and counterintuitive but im hoping to catch the 10.5 on the upswing ala Bubba Watson.....hitting drives on the upswing works better with lofted clubs in my experience !
  19. Price lowered ! 3-PW Yonex Ezone MBs $775 Plus Shipping 3-PW Yonex Ezone MBs, 5-6 Yonex Ezone CB, 4 Yonex Zero driving iron $975 Plus Shipping
  20. U can move the weight around as much as u want........ernie els used to put lead tape on the shaft right above the hosel and some guys used to put tape under the grip ( which is the complete opposite and used to counterbalance a club ) With hotmelt you could move the fluid around to where u wanted it......this was only significant when adding 5-8 grams...Then you could place it on the sole by letting it rest flat and harden there and that would lower MOI but if you let the hot melt go to the rear of the club that would be neutral and on the crown would raise the MOI resulting in more of a bullet type flight......If i were u i would just use some lead tape and move it around .......if you only need a few grams, a couple short strips will do....and if you dont like it, just peel it off.....if anything i would like to reduce weight in the hosel.....i remember back in the 975D days when Joe Kwok would cut the hosel down to change the MOI of the bore through.....that guy was certainly an innovator ! He should have been a club designer !
  21. At least some females are willing to "fake" it !!!! but obviously the Epon is more demanding !
  22. Actually the face shape was beautiful BUT the reviews from some of the straightest self professed Iron Byrons scared me away from the club.....it looked perfect and the raves were about the feel and distance.....however i really need accuracy and forgiveness so this club was not quite right for me.....my swing wanders all over the place and this driver seems made for a machine ( like Tario ) .....
  23. Ive been playing the OnOff forged wedges for a month or so now and am very impressed with them.....I normally dont rotate my wedges much and absolutely loved my Adams Puglielli, but the bite from the on off is tremendous and the sole grind seems to be perfect for my swing !
  24. Technically the 3rd owner but haha the second owner did not hit a single ball with it.....i had it in my hands for about 5 seconds before shipping it out !
  25. after reading this thread...i made the shift to a shorter driver and am loving the results....my head wasnt heavy enough (202g) so i went with a fairly heavy shaft (88g) and have the set up at 44.5" unfinished.....i choke up about half to 3/4" and am bombing the club....I have so much more control to hit fades and draws with this length club.....A 46.5" the ball goes further but i have much much less control which is perfect for a bomber's course but tree lined courses become nightmares !!
