I have a few things that I am going to sell this week but lets start with this one!! Seven SC 5-PW heads only / Standard Lie and Loft "SC - More forgiving, straighter, softer over the entire clubface and produced with a compact size with strong lofts. The pitching wedge is 44* instead of 47*. The SC iron features low CG locations, especially for it, 's smaller size. " Used them as my gamer for a season. (about 50 rounds + range time (mat)) Condition is 8.5/10 on a conservative level. Most noticeable wear is on the face with some tea stains on the grooves. No browning but just wear from hitting balls. Sole has a few marks from usage. but nothing drastic. The Chrome finish on these heads are so durable!! There is a tiny ding on the leading edge of the #9 as you can see in the pics. Always used head cover no other dings seen on the heads. These are truly the finest pieces of modern player's cavity back irons that the world has seen! I have scored my lowest rounds with these heads but it is time to move on to other things.
  2. I really don't think this issue is specific to Japanese brand shafts. I find that OEM shafts (AKA "made for" shafts) have a tendency to be softer compared to aftermarket proper shafts. At the end, actually trying it yourself is the only way you know how it will play for "you" The OEM Diamana shafts on the RS will also differ in characteristics depending on which generation of the RS ( or RS-F) you have. I've tried the 2018 RS with the stock Diamana shaft in SR flex previously and I thought it was a pretty neutral feeling shaft. ( mid launch , mid to low spin ) Pretty nice shaft for a stock shaft in my opinion. And no it does not play exactly like an aftermarket Diamana. I think manufacturers try to design the stock shaft that will fit a wide range of recreational golfers. Based on some readings by shaft industry experts, the profile that fits most players would be a mid kick shaft. Diamana Blue, HZRDUS Yellow (or Blue) Tensei Blue, Ventus Blue are popular mid kick shafts just to name a few. but hey,,, if you end up liking the head but the shaft doesn't work for you, you can always re-shaft with your favorite shaft. For me re-shafting is part of getting a new driver. I wish manufacturers start selling head only as an option because I end up with a lot of unused shafts in my closet. 🙂 As my back up driver, I have a Tour Issued 2016 RS-F Prototype shafted with a Loop GK .... this combo is so consistent and goes so straight but unfortunately does not have the pop to match my USDM driver.. so it remains as my backup.
  3. Yes the literal translation is "Golf Analysis." but actually never heard of such brand. Typically when you see Japanese characters on a set of golf clubs, those clubs are designed by western companies. The only exception that I can think of would be the Yururi Keigekiku series, Yururi , Fuwari, Seida are the only Japanese characters I've seen on JDM branded clubs. The rusting suggests some form of carbon steel. If they look good and play good, by all means play them!! 🙂
  4. Well ...Japanese UT are still split between .350 and .370... many are adopting the .370 these days but not all.
  5. I shafted a Modart 14 with a Diamana D-Limited 60 S and also reshafted the Epic Speed 16.5 with a 2013 Kurokage Proto 60 X , They were both built to 43" and close to D2 .... Both go about 207 to 212 on average with the Yupitel. Some really good ones go 220 ... The Epic Speed head produces higher ball speed and is more forgiving than the Modart. I do still like the look of the Modart as well as sound. Epic Speed feels pretty good but has a kind of dead sound.
  6. The 300 Mini driver looks interesting.... but if it goes near driver distance and I can only use it off the tee ... I won't see much use. My fairway stats with driver sits around 67%... so I don't really need a mini driver. Something that will get me 220 to 225 carry. My 5W distance is around 200 to 210 carry.. which I can probably get to with a 3 hybrid as well.
  7. Yes you are right.... As you say, the sim max FW has even a more upright lie... but to me the face angle of the max is much more open compared to the Ti. Why they have the fairways so upright is beyond me but my guess is that it is made to be anti slice? Anyway, the Epic Speed FW 4W sits at a nice 56 deg lie with pretty much a square face angle which feels more natural to me. I'm still kind of a newbie when it comes to TM adjustable hosels and how they affect the overall angles.
  8. I've been tinkering with my wood set ups as of recent and still continuing now... so let's see if I can remember. Another notable difference may be that on that weekend I got to play Saturday before going into the tournament on Sunday. Saturday's round , I shot 80... but may have worked as a practice round? it was the first time I played two days in a row in a long time. Anyway... - Driver SIM2 9deg / 2013 Kurokage TiNi Prototype 60 S - Fairway '20 SIM Ti 19deg 5W / 2013 Kurokage TiNi Prototype 60 X - Hybrid '20 SIM Max 22deg 4H / Ventus HB Velocore 7S - Irons Seven SC 5-PW / Crazy CBI-80 (red "Regular" ) - Wedges JDM Cleveland RTX 2.0 Matsuyama model 50 54 58 / Modus Wedge 105 - Putter '21 Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 / Stability Black shaft / Lamkin Deep Etched - Ball Bridgestone Tour B XS _____ Since then I'm still tinkering with my woods .... Driver shafts,,,, I tried the XC in 6 SR as well as 5 S but could not get the right level of distance and control and I went back to the 2013 Kurokage... which to me looks slightly spinnier at times but produces the most consistency and control. Even tried last year's Tour Issue SIM driver in 9 deg with a Diamana D-Limited which turned out to be a super low spinner that produced knuckle balls that I could not control or keep the ball in the air. This head is going back to the bay.... As for my SIM Ti 5W I was having issues of hooking the thing occasionally so I tried a SIM Max 5W which helped me with eliminating the hook.... I could not figure out why the SIM Ti was hooking on me but later discovered that since I had the loft turned down to 17 deg,, the lie angle was up by 2 deg!! I always thought that lower loft setting had a flatter lie!! no so with the TM adapters ..... I was shocked to learn this.... the bonded SIM Max 5W was good but it just launched a bit high for my liking... Played a couple of rounds with but just could not get the distance I wanted for a second shot on par 5's ... So now I have a Callaway Epic Speed 16.5 deg 4W but built to 42.5 in with a heavier weight screw shafted with a Loop FW6TS ....this is working pretty well.. higher ball speeds than the SIM Max but with a bit more spin which helps with control. Really forgiving and very neutral at address. Not ridiculously open faced like the TM 5Ws. In preparation for the Club Championship coming up in a few weeks, since we'll need to play from the back tees, I'm going to put a real 3W back in the bag... Have a Modart 14 deg on the way and may try a Sub70 14 deg as well. One of my playing partners has these Sub70 Tour model fairways and actually look and feel very good. For the Hybrid, I've been rotating between last year's SIM Max 4H and SIM2 4H shafted with Ventus HB Velocore... while I like them both, I actually don't have much opportunity to actually use it on the course. I'm waiting to try a Callaway Apex Pro 3H ... I know ... I have a lot less JDM in my bag now... but ultimately, I want to play what is best for my game. I've tried some other irons too like latest Srixon forged and TM P7MC etc.... but I feel that my irons are where it needs to be as well as my wedges. I may decide to play some of my other putters which are all blades, but for the current green conditions, Scotty's mallet is working pretty well.
  9. I played in a 4th of July "Red White and Blue" tournament this morning and to my surprise shot a career low of 69!! 4 Birdies 1 Bogie. How we play this Tournament is that we individually get to pick 6 holes to play from Red (Ladies) tees, 6 holes from Whites (Men's Regular) and 6 holes from Blues (Champion Tees). Ever since dry season started, I've been struggling a bit and shooting between high 70's to low 80's..... Just could not put together a round without having a couple of really bad holes. Then out of nowhere, this happened. The best part about it is that since we can't post this score due to the nature of how it's played, it won't affect my hdcp. 🙂 We have our Club Championship coming up in a month, so I need to make sure I remember how I played today. Shooting below 70 was this season's goal .... so I am happy that I was able to achieve it.... then again it was not under normal playing style .... so maybe I shouldn't cross off my goal just yet. Either way it was a really good day!! I hope everyone is doing well and playing lot's of golf.. though it has been harder to schedule tee times with so many more golfers now. Happy 4th!!
  10. Just got back from the range. Wow.... not sure what to say... I feel like I've been going in the wrong direction all this time. My swing has never been one that puts a lot of load on the shaft. My transition has always been pretty quiet too. So the XC 6 SR seems to be a really good fit. I can time it right, I can make an easy swing as well a pretty hard one, but the shaft does not give up on me. I can totally work the ball both ways with ease and it doesn't curve aggressively or abruptly. One thing that I do notice is that some drives look pretty spinny which is killing the distance. But a low fade being spinny is expected. I can hit the ball high on the face and it produced some high launch low spin balls that carried a long way For the first time in a very long time, I feel like I am actually able to control my drives. left right low high... The loading and unloading feel matches well with the regular flex iron shafts that I am using now. Obviously, I need to give it more time to see how my on course performance will be impacted but the initial impressions are really really good!! I also love the matte black finish with the matte gun metal tip area of these XCs!! Very good shaft if you have a tendency of an early release. And guess what, XCs are the ones in Matsuyama's Srixon ZX5 driver too. Though his shaft is a XC in 8TX!!! A Telephone pole!!!
  11. Following my current trend for going lighter and flexier with my shafts, I've picked up a Tour AD XC in SR flex which I will be trying out later today with my driver. It's possible that I'll see ugly duck hooks or something really bad.... but I just feel the Ventus Black 5X is just too much to handle and my swing just gets too sloppy because I try so hard to try and load the shaft. Similarly I'm also waiting on a VR6 S that I'll try in my 5 wood in place of the 2013 Kurokage TiNi Prototype 60 X .... I'll report back with my results.
  12. I'd buy them if they could guarantee my score be consistently in the low 60's.. 🙂
  13. As far as swing weights go… DR is D4.5 FW is D2.5 Hyb is D3 Irons are D1 to D2 Wedges range from D2 to D5 All over the place…:)
  14. I played with these GR forged and they are very playable. The Regular shafts, much to my surprise work very well for me. They were so good that I decided to reshaft my main gamers, the Seven SC's from the PX LZ 5.5 to the Crazy CBI-80 Regulars I had. A couple of range sessions later, I am happy to report that these Crazy CBI-80 and Seven SCs feel and play so much better for me than the Project X LZs. So I now have this funky set up in my bag with shaft flexes all over the place. Having said that, I have a really good feeling so I will be playing with this set up for the Field day this weekend. DR: Ventus Black Velocore 5X FW: Kurokage Proto TiNi 60 X Hyb: Ventus HB Velocore 7S Irons: Crazy CBI-80 Ltd Reg. Wedge: Modus 105 Wedge
  15. "Forged" carbon steel body.... nickel chromoly face. One piece carbon steel forged heads are becoming rare.

For a while, I was trying out all sorts of TI fw heads. Jbeam GFW, Grandista RSF, Royal Collection SFD Ti FW, Crazy Full Ti FW, Labospec RD 347 Ti 5W , Zodia OZ, Roddio Spoon, Epon AF202 HT have all been really good ones. I don’t have a 3W at the moment but If I were to put one back in, I’d probably go with the Egg Spoon HD from several years ago or possibly the original Egg PX01. Something super forgiving!!
  18. I would totally be all over these if I did not have so many sets sitting idle already. GLWS!! And they are in such mint condition!!
  19. Also, Anser type putters are considered “bladed” putters too.
  20. Ok. yeah, I had the Zen a few times …. Just did not work for my stroke. I wish I could play a Zen… it felt so dreamy soft!
  21. That Zen picture balancing like that indicates the location of the CG of the head is at the center of the face. face balanced putters will direct the face upwards when you have it shafted and let the putter sit freely somewhere on the shaft. the odyssey on the right is face balanced. the Zen would likely be similar to the one on the left. Plumbers neck are in general would be similar to the one in the middle but when you have a long plumbers neck, they can be made to be face balanced. With blades, center shafted or long plumbers neck are your best bet as Supo says. I have an older Anser 5 Milled in my bag I keep at my in-laws in Japan. This one is face balanced.
  22. BTW…. Loving my all black MySIM2 driver + Ventus Black combo. I’m hitting low spin fade balls all day long! As for SIM Ti 5wd I finally settled on a 2013 Kurokage TiNi Proto… works really well!!
  23. Congrats on your new purchase…. Give it time and give it love. I’m sure you’ll get used to it over time. I mostly play CBs but still play my Seven x Shinagawa MBs from time to time. Good to remind myself to focus on correct swings for each shot. With CBs I get a bit lazy. 🙂
  24. I've spent a couple of range sessions with these irons and interestingly, I hit these so much straighter than my other irons. Feel at impact is not as dense as other player's forged cavity backs but these are quite a bit more forgiving. It hits mostly straight but still workable left and right. Aaaand... I can hit the 20 deg 3 iron with ease! If I can just learn how to let go of my ego... I feel that I should actually be playing these as my gamers. I might have to go do the iron shaft fitting again and really take a closer look at 950GH reg shafts... It would be really interesting as I use 50X and 60X shafts in my driver and fw. Just weird!
  25. oh wait... you have v90 reg. maybe the 3001 are stiffer ...
