Besides a run with a Crazy TJ-80 in 8.2, I've never played stiffer than normal. Mostly the opposite actually. I told them what swingweight and length I play and other than that they could do whatever they wanted to get me results. I'll tell you what, for my shaft being closer to XX than stiff, it's still somehow the best feeling shaft I've ever played.

chiromikey replied to TourSpecGolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearThat's a great list mr.haha! I haven't been heavy into the salt water tanks in a while but I do have one still going in the lobby of my office. I'd love to see some pics of yours if you don't mind sharing. Here's mine...

chiromikey replied to TourSpecGolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearNice collection!! I had the original '88 Honda Hurricane then the first year 600 F2 and then went to school full time and sold them. I got back into riding when Yamaha introduced the R6 in '99 but the very next year I couldn't resist Ducati when the decided to homologate the 2000 748R. I've had it ever since and doubt anyone will ever offer me enough to let it go.

chiromikey replied to TourSpecGolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearNob, you reminded me that I still have a motorcycle. Plenty of Ti and carbon on that. Even though I was near the front of the carbon frenzy, I tried to avoid both because they were too "raceboy" to me. I went with a custom Inconel exhaust (better than Ti for header applications) and magnesium rims at first. The final edition ended up with BST carbon rims and Akrapivic Ti exhaust. Almost bought full carbon body work a few months ago but stopped myself since I only ride a few times per year anymore.

Getting the swing weight up....
The lighter grips I've used are cabretta or kango Gripmasters and Winn wraps. The ultralights are the Tour 25 and Dri Tac Wrap Lite.

Getting the swing weight up....
A tip weight probably won't change characteristics enough to notice but you can't get as much of a swingweight change as you would with a lightweight grip. I've always preferred the lighter grip route if I was stuck on a shaft that hurt my preferred swingweight.

I know...but when the shaft is made for that head/loft and my swing, it all works out!

So we're all around the same SS. crazy how they can make different things work for us. I'm only 5'6" and 150 lbs just to throw more variables into the equation...

I'm curious about your swing speed also. I've always preferred S flex and they have me closer to XX!

It took me a few extra years to give up my wooden driver but after that I've been ahead of the curve when it comes to long drivers. I went to 46" when everyone else was talking about 45", and have been playing 47" for at least 6 years. Although this is the longest at 47.5", it wasn't a leap to get used to. And my theory on swing weight is to swing the heaviest head that doesn't cause me to lose more than 1mph average swing speed. The laws of physics dictate that this will give me the longest drives (as long as smash factor remains consistent).
