TourSpecGolfer replied to mpbachman's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs

Honma TW-727 Series Coming Janurary
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I'm excited to see what the TW727 irons look like. I agree the TW Honma drivers are no slouch, especially the 455. Another driver that is simply great is the 2014 Mizuno Craft! Both Endo clubs. -
RomaRo Alcobaca Stream Wedge
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I totally agree, your Alcobaca's are stunning but these like the scoop serve a different need. What this Stream has is a wide sole toward the heel and toe with a thin sole center hence the S shaped arch. RomaRo says this makes the bounce more useful in more areas essentially giving you a wedge great in the sand but also equally as good in approach shots. -
Quadra Fire Express 2014 Prototype Ver.1 Announced!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Based on what I know it should feel similar (not boardy, alive with kick ) to the TP-V. It's designed to be more stable than the TP-V for aggressive/fast swingers who want to play a shorter length where as the Quadra TP-V is still for faster swingers just not as fast and fine with slightly longer lengths. Hope that helps. -

My 1st Gold's...but definitely not the last!!
TourSpecGolfer replied to needmoregolf's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Hi Mark, this is the Shimada Black Ion shaft, not exactly black but darker than chrome. -
Prototype and what could be retail versions of Honma's TW-727's are starting to show up on the R&A list.

Even golfers who produce fast head speeds still want to increase their distance as well as improve their ball control. However, Some Athlete players are sensitive to shaft movement and deformation as well as club head behavior upon addressing the ball, take away, and the downsswing into impact and this seems to be the reason why there are many faster swingers who use overly heavy hard and stiff shafts over others to focus more on control of direction and dispersion. The Quadra 2014 Fire Express Proto Type Ver.1 Shaft shaft has the capability of meeting the demands of these stronger faster swingers. On top of that, it focuses on providing good overall feel with capability to increase distance and control with a suggested driver length of (45 inches) which is often used and preferred by athlete golfers. For the stronger swinger this shaft is considered on the lighter side but by effectively dividing the weight evenly within the shafts center, it's lighter weight performs as tight as heavier shafts. On top of the Quadra technology implementation throughout the shaft, it provides higher accuracy by adding more Quadra sheets to the butt end of the handle and still provides smooth feel throughout the swing and is able to stabilize the shaft to improves control. The Quadra 2014 Fire Express Proto Type Ver.1 Shaft also helps to avoid the wild or pop-up hits for players with fast head speeds, the amount of spin is decreased and lowered. There is a new flex system based on how many sheets of Quadra's High Modulus & Nanoalloy Technology that determines the CPM's. For example F1-F4 has different layers while F0 has three times the Quadra layers as F4. (see chart for CPM's)

Modart Suda Grind MB's are Coming!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
There is no CNC on the Suda Grinds, it's straight up hand made old school by hand by the man. The CBC, A60G, A55G irons all are CNC'd from a block of S25C. -

Modart Suda Grind MB's are Coming!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
None of Modarts irons or wedges are made of SUS, the ones you are talking about are CNC'd S25C. But the Suda Grind Wedges are not CNC"d they are like most other wedges, forged/hand grind These MB's will be the same, each one done by Suda-san himself. We are still negotiating FP #'s based on the raw head and also stamping config, I personally would like to see just the SD logo on toe and the By Modart only on the neck. -
Been pushing hard for over 6 months, hurry Suda-san make them blades! I appreciate and respect how conservative they are about performance, do expect the MB's to have the same quality, grind skill, fit and finish as the Suda Wedges which are absolutely outstanding imo. Sample irons are being produced now and are 4-6 weeks out. There will be a first edition 5 set run because that's what TSG has committed to in the first month. email [email protected] to reserve a set.

2015 ONOFF Forged KURO Irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Mine just arrived last week as well, Modus Tour 125. Will shoot pics this week and post, visually they are the best version of the ONOFF Forged imo. Will know how they strike shortly. -
Much depends on your budget and what you want. I ask because you are coming from Ping and considering Geotechs. Do you mean you average 4 under par or 4 over par? You said "+" I think the new 2015 Yamaha Tour Model CB and Wedges are a good choice for that level. Modart Driver or FW, TS358 FW, Royal Collection 306V FW all worthy considerations. Your game is super solid and you worked hard for years to get there, you deserve some top notch gear and really JDM doesn't have to be all that expensive.

2015 Yamaha RMX Tour Model CB Irons Pre Order Guide
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I've got the 14s as well, excellent irons but a bit big for a "tour model" imo but that's why I liked them.Expect more feedback, better look if you like compact, less offset and thinner everything. performance wise and this is a best guess lower trajectory, better off tight lies, more workable. I think the 15 PB is still smaller than the 14 CB, this is Yamaha Tour Model back to it's roots -
Also take a look at the T388!

I actually like the feel of the 425, it's reminds me somewhat of the classic TourStage heads pre X-Drive. I would say the 425 has lower spin, straighter, more mute sounding. Zero has more spin, more hollow and soft, but to me much harder to hit. The CG in the 425 seems higher and more forward, expect a lower traj from the 425 and more run out head vs head. I would assume the Zero has a bit more carry.

2015 Yamaha RMX Tour Model CB Irons Pre Order Guide
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
PB Listing is up in the proshop, same deal here as with the CB. I'm torn between which one to go for myself now as the PB doesn't look much bigger than the CB. Interestingly NS Pro seems to be making OEM shafts like this RMX95 which looks to be similar to the Srixon Only NS980 DST which is basically a hair heavier at 98 grams than the NS950 and that weight was added to the butt section. The RMX95 has a very nice look to it, a darker steel with nice blue graphics. -
