  1. Anyone notice site was down for 30 minutes yesterday with a maintenance page? We were already using best practices and a brand new dedicated server after the site redesign in Feb, but we decided to kick it up a notch using multiple dedicated servers and enhanced managed security. You should notice all sites are significantly faster now and by the end of next week we should double our speeds in Asia from where they are at now. Enjoy the speed...:)
  2. Never, I would love to though as Bali is such a beautiful place.
  3. This man knows his classic TourStage.

Just wanted to clarify that these are the Japan Editions not the Global Editions TSG worked on. The stamping, grind, offset, top line is different but still performs spectacularly none the less.
  5. Amazing place, the people are so kind and gentle. good food at great prices, massages are wonderful and while I didn't see a single course there it was still fun. I did play a really nice track in Vietnam though, will post soon.
  6. Awesome setup Mark!
  7. Been working with Hutchy on his custom modified Ping G2 Tess putter, it's being done by gold's which is a reassuring feeling as the product always comes out top notch with special consideration and attention to the specific details. So why mod a ping? well it's a special putter to Hutchy, in his words: "The ping also holds a special place as it was the putter that won me the B grade championships with a 20 foot double break eagle putt :) It deserves some golds pampering." So that's what we're doing and documenting the build in High Res. This putter has a few challenges, first is it has writing on the bumpers that needed to be removed for this putter to look it's best, so gold's had to hand mill and hand grind the letters off the bumpers, this meant the putter would lose a good amount of weight. It's also a cast putter so some of the finishing options would show differently from the area where the text used to be versus the unground area, so gold's had to grind all the texture off the entire head so it would be uniform and look flawless. Below (removal of "Ping G2 Tess" writing on bumpers.) More to come...
  8. I just requested a stock check from SYD on this. I'm guessing they are sold out.
  9. After the golf show this year I took a trip to some of the more wild parts of Asia, here are some photos from from Cambodia. Images taken with the Sony A7R, Fuji XT-1, and Canon 5D MkIII Plenty photos so it will load slow.
  10. Very nice club GLWS and hope you heal quickly.

His mind must be spinning with options now. Let's ask him the important stuff because it matters. Do you come in steep or shallow? Any preference on bounce? high/mid/low How important is spin? Do you like soft feel with little feedback or firm with more feedback? Do you take deep diviots? Your most played course is hard/med/soft turf As for used vs new in wedges, some wedges hold their spin well and others don't. Looks like we all agree that Yururi and Bolds spin like heck, the bolds will lose some of it over time but if you clean the grooves out it can last. The Yururi's will shred balls for a while with clean grooves. Toyos are good spin, not great, but the feel/feedback factor ranks high to me and also the grind. Endo made wedges feel gooood all around but lack in feedback. consider the ONOFF S-Forged, not many have it but consider those the Toyoshima of Endo. The 52 is almost gone at Labo. Stew is talking about the TourStage X-Wedge, this is for the advanced player imo, they give nice feedback and don't feel oozy like others. compact and yes it comes with spin that lasts. firmer and compact sums them up for me. As far as new vs used, of course we would love to earn your business but whats important is you get what you need, I suggest used if your experimenting or unsure of what to get, I suggest new if you know what you want and must have it. Lastly consider non conforming grooves if you don't play tourneys.

  13. Per mpbachman's request here are some comparo shots of the Ryoma U vs the Modart MA01H I've got a handful of rounds under my belt with both and the similarities between this comparo and the Modart FW vs Ryoma FW comparo is pretty similar. Modart MA01H - easy to get up, very straight with what seems like low spin, that same great impact that the MA01F has, the setup is small. For those who don't like that offset look understand that the neck area that curves in comes back out a bit sorta like how the Callaway JDM Legacy Utes are, It's actually a good thing with woods this shallow. Ryoma U - performance wise this beats all, it's not as easy to get up as the Modart but it gets up easier than the rest, The Ryoma U is longer and much more forgiving like all of Ryoma's clubs but at the same time it's not exactly a looker, it's got a rounded rectangle look to it, face looks slightly closed and it's bigger than most. So how to choose? This is one of those things like owning blades and CB's These two are so different from each other they can live harmoniously in different bag rotations. I'm comparing two different lofts, 19* vs 21* the Ryoma 21* stock shaft is still a good 10 yards longer than the Modart 19 with FW80. The Modart isn't short in distance as it's the same as my other utes it's that the Ryoma U is uber long. As far as setup goes club for club I think Modart offers the clubs with the best setup in JDM land today. Especially the Suda-wedges.
  14. Yes I will post a thread comparing the two today with comments.
  15. Here's something interesting, I've been going back and fourth with TourStage on specs looking for a driver for a customer who absolutely needs an open face angle. The answer was that every Tourstage driver has a slightly closed face even if it's listed as square and set in the neutral position. So I took a look at the 709 430 and 450 that I recently sold in inventory and it looks square to my eye, then I sat it next to the Modart D and the tourstage looked a hair closed.
  16. The modart is about the same as the XV so slightly less forgiving than average and that's due to it's smaller size. The MA01F is smaller than the XV for sure but that setup oh my is it pretty. It's like the blade of fairway woods. TS358 is a hair more forgiving than the XV.
  17. Love Love Love the TS358 it performs and feels great. Anyone else playing this? The modart is my gamer now. I can't say I like one more than the other. Both feel great, the modart has a better more compact setup. Modart is easier to get up while the TS358 is more forgiving feel is a tie yet both are very different, distance is a tie. I have the stock shaft in the onoff, FW80 in the modart. highly suggest both.
  18. F2 was not as easy to hit as F3. this year I regrettably sold my F3 and bought an F2. If you can hit the strong 3's well then I'm sure it's a bomber but I don't have the game for that. I hit the F5 better and more consistently than the F3. The F5 was as long as my SYD XV 3 wood. I'm really a big fan of the new Ryoma U, while it's not pretty I think this technology will trickle into future Ryoma woods. The U is so damn straight and long its silly. I would be in heaven if they made a 16* version.
  19. Pics of the new Egg 1 Driver, Review can be found on the GolfToImpress Blog
  20. I have a demo iron of the 2014 VG3, holy smokes! It's gotta be one of the best if not the best iron in this player segment. Awesome feel, long, super easy to hit, it lacks a bit of feedback but I don't mind. Another shocker was the VG3 driver, we brought in the 10.5 and 9.5. FYI they are both different shapes kinda like the Modart D & S. I'm hitting them both well. These drivers are great.
  21. I'm in the same boat, it took me a while but I have no doubts its one of the longest ever made. We have technical info from factory swing robots (we can't share so don't ask) what I can say is that the Maxima ST has set the benchmark. There is a longer club but I'm pretty sure few here would buy it.
