They are very different the Apex Pro is more thin and all around while the black is thicker but has very little offset. The Apex Feels very good but nothing like the black, not that the black feels better just different. the legacy black forged is also noticeably more forgiving.

Everything is custom so contact Tario to build yours.

2014 Yamaha RMX Tour CB or 2013 V Forged (non-tour)
TourSpecGolfer replied to Shankopotamus's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The 2013 non tour will be more forgiving and launch higher IMO. I've hit both and they are each studs. The 14 tour will cost you more fly a little lower but also IMO be more accurate. They will also have better resale next year when your drooling over the 15s. -
2014 Yamaha CB Tour Model Thread!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Only to resize the image, the rest is color correction and sometimes a vignette. What IMO is the best way to take accurate photos of clubs is to get the lead score line vertical. That said offset and size is magnified if the camera angle is off which is common when a camera is in one hand and club in the other. -
Got one of these to see where it fits in my bag. I needed something shorter and more stable than a utility. Considering installing a Crazy UT shaft to it. Anyone hit this yet?

You probably by now have heard about 4K TV's & Video. Also known as UHD or UHDTV It's basically a minimum resolution of 3850×2160 or four times 1080p. What most people have now 1080P is what's considered 2K resolution of 1920px Then there is 8K that has no real use just yet so we can forget about that. 4K has been becoming more affordable recently you can get a 50" for 1k if you wait for the new Vizio's, some chinese brands are pumping out 4k TV's at even less. But you get what you pay for although I would consider a Vizio at this price point. The problem is there are few places to find 4K content. Sony is releasing a streaming box this year but it will require very high speed internet. Youtube & Vimeo just launched support for 4K. The best TV's are coming from Sony, Samsung, Sharp & LG. It's CES time in vegas now. Sony is leading the pack with an affordable 4K video camera called the FDR AX100 it's prosumer and coming in March for 2 grand. If it came out just a month earlier we would use it for the golf show. Good news is TSG will be moving over to 4K video this year when they launch the interchangeable lens version just because Tario & I are geek like that. Here's some footage from this consumer camera ( Click the gear icon and move the res to it's highest and give it time to buffer ) <iframe width="1280" height="720" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/hEYhkvZEVN4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Here is an image of the camera, nothing fancy and it looks just like what most of us already have. If you have a computer that has a video card that supports 4K, its usually a dual GPU computer you can gain some major real estate by using a 4K monitor but it won't be cheap. For a meager 31" by Sharp running at 60hz your looking at spending $3500 or the clone by ASUS which is nearly as good for $500 less. This is what apple sells with it's just released Mac Pro. But if money were no object and you want the best TV money can buy at this moment try this on for size, the 100+ inch curved 4K TV's. In fact the prototypes just announced can even bend! Every brand is making them. LG & Samsung's latest bend.

Let's drop this, it's going no where. Some of us believe in the nitro gas in the head while others don't. Truth is there is no way to find out, Even a trackman can't tell us with certainty. Whatever the case it's a great performing head, feels good too. We can't rely on the maker to tell us and all that matters is the person hitting it has good results. Sorry this thread has gone sideways. Bringing it back to the fairway Stew was very kind to post his experience with a variety of clubs. Stew have you hit the Legacy Black Tour Authentic yet?

I say VG3 and your on top of it! We may be able to round up more drop an email to [email protected] please.

Yamaha 2014 Tour Model RMX MB Thread!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Range time spent with both the CB vs MB, then a full round. One more full round tomorrow and I'll post my thoughts and compare. Real quick though, I shouldn't have hit these, I'm more torn than ever now about my irons. -
The Callaway Legacy Black Forged, So they sold out a while ago, then Callaway decided to do another run at endo and priced them uber low far lower than irons sold in the states and now those are pretty much gone. Very cool sticks and there is absolutely no reason why Callaway can't launch these in the US besides the fact that there is no Legacy Black series there so it would look solo as far as line up goes. But who cares these freakin rock! This was Callaway's response to the VG3 a couple years back. Goes to show retail JDM does trickle down to the U.S PGA tour.

Good, im sorry if I came off like Me ;) So you never tried the Nitro? Yes foam has the flight, dispersion, and feel I desire theres just something about it that isn't like the Nitro.
-
Yes and I said Gimmick, then later you say it's not. The only reference to gimmick is about Nitro in the head which begs the question asked. You alright Spoon? So please don't take offense, let me put it a different way so you don't feel a negative around it.. Has anything changed your mind about the gimickyness or non-gimmickyness of Nitro in the head? Edit: The one I'm playing is the Nitro, so this isn't me baggin on this club. Of all the Kamui drivers the Nitro & foam spec are the best imo. TP07S & KPX good but not as imo. It's an ugly club but could be worth a try. We have a full technical breakdown being done by Tario before the golf show.

Modified Odyssey JDM Putter by Gold's Factory
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Kinda I think.. The A1SP ya know that thing was pretty rare as well, not many made but it had this higher tone tink to that insert. GF makes inserts that do super solid feel and have made some that don't depending on custom design. I think when Craig has time he can add value here as he has an SM490A head with a mid size round edges insert in it, not sure if its damascus or what but some of these guys like idrive as well have enough putters with inserts to make some good comparisons. -
Then that's the both of us who have our doubts about the Nitro, so what changed your tune on it?

Modified Odyssey JDM Putter by Gold's Factory
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
U got me thinking, I wonder if feel changes between a large sized insert vs small. I would assume so. -
I think spoon could be referring to me saying Nitro inside this head or any head is a gimmick? If memory serves me Im the one who used that term and stand still by it. And yes he is selling them ;) That's not saying it's a bad driver at all, it's great! I've got one in rotation now and its In my top 5 but only with an aftermarket shaft, for me it was the boron and messenger both in stiff that really woke this head up, perhaps idrive can chime in as I think he went from stock to the xXx touale as his gamer? This is actually a pretty popular club in the bags of many top amateurs in Japan. Both versions. I do have a single foam spec with stock shaft available brand new at a great price if anyone is interested. And stew, waccine, man I noticed the same thing the 77 was almost unhittable for me after the first 9 holes but before that it popped bullets. This is a shaft that requires spinach.

No I'm not it sold several inventory sales ago. I'm considering having the mallet version of this series done up a similar way. -
Tario were these ordered with the copper underlay?

Taylormade Japan 2014 Lineup - Gloire, SLDR 430 TP etc!
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes so this is what im curious about. Are there any differences besides pain & shaft options? -
The term Samurai sword is thrown around too loosely when it comes to Japanese Golf Gear, just as Tour Issue has been in the USA. But if there ever were a golf club that resembles a Japanese Katana blade I must say these blades are it. I think theres a stigma when it comes to Japanese golf clubs that it's for the older gentleman, which does have merit to it as Japan does have loads of game improvement gear designed to enhance distance for that segment of golfers. But what the general golfing public doesn't understand is Japan has more than triple the amount of muscle back irons vs the states, many more irons with thinner top lines and soles and shafts that are stiffer than what's available anywhere else. That's not even taking into consideration the quality of craftsmanship, technology, and far superior materials. So do your golf maniac friends a favor and turn them on to JDM gear if you haven't already. As we all know it's a whole new world out here... The all new RMX! At first glance, I was like not bad Yamaha these look alright. In hand it's a whole different story. I play the current RMX Tour Model CB and Im in total bliss but pulling the wraps off the new Tour Model MB is a whole other mother. A little weird at first looks wise but that's only the back cavity as when u set this sucker down I'm not sure if I can say that there has ever been a sexier blade made. That center cut away and bump at it's very end serves a very important purpose, to avoid head twisting at impact helping the ball stay on target while not reducing workability. I wish I could say I had the game to test Yamaha's latest technology but hopefully some of the few lucky who snagged these at launch can chime in later after the planet thaws this winter. Due to demand Yamaha is kicking up production of the Tour Model irons and this year its 3000 sets produced. TSG does have access to a few more so head on over to the proshop to secure yours quickly, they are shipping now. I do have another theory as to why Yamaha has decided to increase production. Endo is known to be a very expensive place to manufacture clubs and Yamaha for the most part produced nearly every iron in previous years with Endo. This year with the RMX only Tour Model CB, MB are made by Endo so it could be they needed to meet volume requirements to keep the price feasible. Just a guess. Not to say anything else is wrong with the rest of the RMX line, they are still made in Japan. I have yet to hit these so I can't comment on performance or feel really. The CB i have many rounds with and I can say hands down my most favorite iron in years. It's very forgiving, feel is superb and on par with the legendary AF302 the RMX Tour Model CB is an iron I don't think will leave my bag anytime soon. It will go down with some of TSG's most cult irons such as the ONOFF Forged, VG3, previous Tour Models, Yururi Flat Backs among the most notable in recent years. Anyway enough garble from me, let's start with the #6 iron: Now let's take a look at the #4 iron: The PW: So what do you think guys? These hitable? Love or hate? Ya it could use less stamping but how can you complain about the rest of it. I will be hitting these and able to compare them to the CB as they have the same stock modus 3 stiff shafts and specs pretty close. I will post my comparison comments here. I don't see how they can be nearly as forgiving as the RMX Tour Model CB but if it's more rewarding I may have to jump to MB's a few times a month.
