It depends on how he does the neck, If he is taking a single piece and welding around it cool. If he starts with a single piece then cuts the neck off and welds back on it's more for looks. If it's a multi piece putter they weld or screw because they have to. You can make 2-3 multi piece putter heads out of the same amount of material that it takes to make one single piece putter. I can get you a blank head at a good price to begin modding. As for engraving, I just can't stand hand stamping.
-
Yes exactly, I think also a sound slit would do very good on that material. Another option is to go for a firmer insert material but that sorta defeats the purpose.

Manufacturing is mostly from Taiwan & China, one of their forged wedges are made in Japan though. The new gold heads for slower swingers is made in Japan. They do have a couple of borderline clone/open heads in the line up though. It's misleading how they write KOBE - JAPAN on everything, thats where their main office is not the manufacturer. Shafts usually made by Fujikura, assembly done in Japan.

Looks great & very unique but I have found few who stick with a machine putter. I commend him for breaking the mold and going a new direction but the problem is not solving any of the issues that come along with making putters out of pieces... It reminds me of adjustable golf clubs, the idea is to modify it yourself but most players don't. I went through this in 2003 when GT was designing his blinker & inserts. The more pieces or screws the more you loose feel and precision especially on faster greens. We also tested screw & welded necks vs one piece. Its for sure noticeable unless you have an insert so we studied the insert as a fix and found aluminum to work best at hiding it. To me these are separate parts that when put together become a putter. What's lost is the smooth vibration that reverberates through the head up the neck and into your hands. Odyssey did a good job with their tungsten parts & faces by using inserts that have an adhesive vs screws. We even researched spin welding but it was way to expensive to setup.

Those engravings can be done by sending your putter to a gun engraving company, they have all the tools and many options to choose from, They usually have better finishing capabilities than Golf refinishers as well.
-
Send it to scotty, the work will be great quality but it will look like all the others. Send it to gold's, It's the best quality and you can have it as simple or complicated as you want on top of options scotty wouldn't touch.

PZ Makes it a lot softer imo. It also improves the roll noticeably. Sorry I don't know the dimensions. I like the original PZ over the new one. I've been in a light milling SM490A phase recently.
-
I suggest single piece heads & I prefer engraving to hand stamping if your paying anything over $200.
-
PZ is a little soft for me on fast greens. Been loving a sound slot when greens are blazin.

I would say don't start modding this particular putter. The font on the face goes a little deep to be milled off, also your sorta stuck with that circle text in the cavity. You can contact me via PM if you need a blank.

Which Jspec Adjustable driver should I buy? Could use a hand.
TourSpecGolfer replied to Mjr. D's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its an incredibly forgiving club, I've tried it. Feel isn't that awkward either the issue is Mjr.D needs something that can handle ludicrous speeds and fly low with little spin. -
It's about time congrats! I love that head cover, PS2 no doubt and judging by the font 4-5 years sounds about right. What you have there is a quality one piece JIS303 anser putter, very basic. The glory of golds is in customizations, your way any thoughts? imo Sasaya sun puts it best in this video between 21:55 - 23:0

New M.A.C GF putter design - CHRONOS
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It's not only Scotty, so many brands have this problem, I think most do. I think the entire industry has spec issues and that's why aftermarket services are so important. Me personally I can live with the CG being a bit off but not the face & lie angles. -
Official TRPX Drivers and Shafts Review Thread

Your hitting the D or S? I find it much more stable than the Maxima, X-Line shaft? -
It's smart of Bridgestone to re use these designs because many of them are under appreciated and sometimes it just takes a new coat for everyone to see the light, The J40's are a good example of that.

Being born and raised in Hawaii and now living elsewhere I notice many of my friends going to visit but never getting to really experience the islands the local way. On the other hand tourists get to see a side of Hawaii that locals don't, Waikiki no matter how overplayed is a fantastic and beautiful place to stay. Surrendering to the corny luau's, drinks with umbrellas, hula dancing and fire shows is necessary in order to have a good time. I think the tourists need to experience what locals do while the locals need to experience what the tourists do. In Japan many Japanese don't climb mt Fuji, while the expats & foreigners do. In Hawaii same thing applies to Diamond head crater. My version of Kauai is playing golf nearly every day usually at Wailua, Kiele or Prince Course, afterwards head home to load the truck & get the dog, we usually drop our cages into the river for prawns on the way to the beach and grab them at night, 4x4 to the fishing spot + collecting firewood along the way, we fish from shore, if it's big bait over 1lb swim it out which is scary this year as tiger shark attacks are high. Something about fire & a dog running around just sets the mood. Other cool things like picking opihi or night tsubo from the rocks which is not for the faint of heart, tie'ing Ika (squid) to a stick and sticking it in the sand to catch sand turtles which we use as bait or fry and eat like pop corn. Oh and drinking, lots of drinking. There's so much more to see than the norm or what websites & travel agencies will direct you to. How are the courses? top notch! Easy to get Tee times, more beautiful than Oahu imo, My favorite is Prince Course shot 98 from the blue's which is a good score here for me. It's tricky. On non golfing days usually wake up for a dive then drive to one of nearly a hundred and secret secluded beaches, most you will find no one at.. zero. Local food is outstanding, tourist food is decent but overpriced. Gotta know where to go and what to order I guess. Enjoy the pictures and feel free to drop me a PM if anyone decides to visit Kauai. I've even got a friend who can take you & guests around to discover secret spots for a couple hundred bucks per day. Kiele GC Where the river meets the ocean This is what we do everyday after golf Tsuiyoka's aged hamburger steak for lunch Queens bath deaths mostly tourists who turn their back to the ocean for a pic and the current when swimming On our way to the weeping rock at blue hole Natural swimming pool with fish Delicacies on the rocks if you have courage to get pick them Hawaiian barb wire fence mountain is a woman on her back Where no roads go 215yd driving average Scuba off Oahu Drivable Par 4 Fav snorkel spot

New M.A.C GF putter design - CHRONOS
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
A bunch of people think Gold's is just for looks and imo that couldn't be further from the truth. Most putters have a bad lie, face angle, and CG location, those things effect performance especially for the better player. For me going 4* open vs stock, I see less pulls and the ball easily rolls straighter on flat putts for me, on top of that it just set's up more square visually to me eye. Milling, weights, finish etc.. all has an effect. The weights are often used to face balance or move the CG, the milling is all preference of feel, the finish is about feel, wear and looks. better shafts, perfectly aligned grips, built for you and designed by you. Now all we gotta do is something about the price! but if you guys ever go to golds with us you will fully understand why it cost what it does. -
The M.A.C series is Master Sasaya's personal line and most exclusive series. We originally posted about the M.A.C line up a while back and all of them sold pretty quickly. The rest of the M.A.C putters are being released one by one now, the latest is called CHRONOS...

Can the RomaRo UT Hosels be bent?

have not but I do play this UT and could go flatter myself. -
New kid on the block: Triple X - TRPX?!
TourSpecGolfer replied to mauvanilla's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Something that I'm noticing is that some of the shallow(er) heads like the Maxima provide better results for those who have a more consistent striking pattern ideally near center, while people who hit it covering more of the club face (like myself) get better results with the more upright, deeper faced forward/high CG designs like the D1, 435, etc.. Your right that the deeper face is often preferred by the better player but that's pretty general and for me what it boils down to is deeper faced forward/high cg drivers provide the straighter shot for my inconsistent ball striking with the driver. I've had guys play the Maxima with their favorite shaft, the ones who hit center and come into the ball with less swing flaws absolutely kill it. The ones that don't like me get a lot of high left or right shots. just an observation. A big thing is where we miss as well. -

Tario hit it back before release, I think most are fitting for a D, I've had one for over a month now. D or S? That's the question isn't it, both are deep imo. S has a slightly lower and further back cg I believe. The D is more 388 married a 435 in the sense that it has that really straight and stable flight. Interesting that S has a 58.5* lie while the D has a 60*. I mirror louisifers thoughts, this driver can and has replaced the 435 for me. I'm not as familiar with the S as I own the D. Tario, you were fitted by ABEX for the D right? More stable over the S? I think that the person who strikes center often will do good with the S while those who really need to straighten things out will do better with the D. Not sure yet. I do know that when my swing is fresh the X-Line has the most roll of anything i've seen in this head. I just need to work on getting it a little higher now. -
These putters are amazing good work Craig & Tario.

Welcome to the forum levessh, so you want smaller than the current X-Forged you play? If so the Miura CB-1007 ( perhaps with custom Y-Grind ) is a good option. I've hit them and they are compact and look great, feel isn't as nice as the Ray H's and it isn't as forgiving. The Ray H has a more buttery feel. As a digger both of these irons should give a similar result as they both do have rounded leading edges. You may want to look at a bigger rounded sole if you feel digging is that big of an issue.
