wow blast from the past. Both these irons have more offset in the short irons than they do in the long. I actually have a set of TS-202's here. I remember the X-5000 though.

Fairway wood face material.. pros and cons
TourSpecGolfer replied to hiro's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
All I can say is the RomaRo Type-R is a unreal. I'm addicted to it's feel, the body is stainless while the face is Forged Cup Ti. It's long, forgiving and just feels & sounds awesome! Not a fan of full Ti heads, thats more for game improvement models and they use Ti to save on weight for lighter head weights. Stainless with mirage face seems to be the standard but I'd suggest the new Type-R in FW, UT. -

Miura Giken Japan - CB1007 "Y-Grind" Iron Heads
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its a lot more box toe, this is the grind they make for KJ. -
It's all good, so many clubs and confusing numbers its hard to keep track sometimes.

Never heard of Yururi 208 irons.

Your a tinkerer so I think straight is fine then if that fails tip or try a different shaft. I'm shocked about your specs man, we will get to the bottom of this. I'm starting to not to fit myself by flex anymore and am shifting to shaft profile and most importantly timing. Game has improved leaps by doing this. IMO timing is everything and how the bend and kick works with my swing I've found to be so important. Now with the Maxima IMO it changes the timing a bit for me making it hard for me to fit shafts that have worked for me in the past. That said and this is weird but guys who hit center get mad results from this head which is odd because this drivers main attribute is forgiveness. That goes back to the CG up back deep vs up front IMO.
-
I think it boils down to what we hit best, are you better at hitting irons, ut's, or FWs? Playing to your strengths is key IMO. Another thing is where our mistakes are. If its OB's from longer shots a couple of times a round one should consider trying driving irons as they tend to be a bit more accurate yet not as long or soft landing. For me I sometimes yank FW's left, so I ventured into stiffer heavier more stable shafts and that helped. I also went to the Ryoma F3 and that helped a lot. Same deal with UTs. But I absolutely love driving irons. Accurate and not so wild, low and tight. One more thing is what course your playing. In Japan I hit driving irons a lot.

Its the pictures that make it appear very closed. anytime two drivers are side by side the one on the left always appears much more closed even if its more open than the driver in the right. if it's bad specs we will take care of it, so no worries there for Mjr. D at all but the hook problem isn't coming from the closed face. It's a couple of things the first is having its CG so far back. We went over this with Mr Kobayashi as he explained why in many of his designs he prefers to put the CG much closer to the face. The other thing is how the hosel depth and distance angle from head makes shafts play weaker.
-
Mjr D, that sucks man. Your photo shows about 6* closed!! Thats the photo though, when you line up two drivers the one on the right always looks way more square. That said if it was measured at 1* closed by cool clubs Its should be as they aren't idiots, what exactly did they say it came out at? I'll double check whats going on with Ryoma but I've been pretty disappointed with this club compared to the D-1. Based on the tech and description I thought it would be the king of kings. It took me 4 shafts to get her dialed in which took over a month before it landed a spot in the bag then to get knocked out by an old favorite the CRZ435 not because of the head but because of the way shafts play in the head. Here's something interesting though, we have had a couple of customers complain about ordering square and getting 1* closed. Ok send it back, we have it checked by Ryoma... square then we have it checked by a 3rd party shop...and it's square!?!? Mine is square and looks closed. Now when it comes to hooks, I strongly believe its not the face angle as much as it is the way your shaft plays with this clubs hosel depth. 1* closed doesn't equal hook city, especially for a good player like you. Lets say you had a Crazy 435 with the same face angle as your Maxima and the same shaft + specs. I bet you would hit that straighter than this one. PM me lets get you some help.

I could see Buchi making a sick combo set starting with these moving on to one or both cavity back designs then into the muscle back & wedge.

Piretti and Lajosi Putters : What's the deal?
TourSpecGolfer replied to wmclarenf1's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The face milling, design, etc.. will play a bigger part in feel than the material alone. For performance like golf clubs having the proper specs is a huge deal. Far too many people don't adjust their putters. imo no one can tell the difference between GSS vs J.I.S SUS303 if all things are equal. When you look at it's contents they are identical in make up. non JIS 303 is pretty much the same as well but you can see the difference in the minerals if it was tested. Then there is preference, I like light milling and a sound slot for ultra fast greens as well as 340g heads. I like soft, deep milling for slower greens up to 380g heads. After all that I still switch between neo mallet & anser style just to give them breaks which seems to help my game. btw Sasaya-san does Damascus inserts, German silver as well. -
Miura Giken Japan - CB1007 "Y-Grind" Iron Heads
TourSpecGolfer posted a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
For the Miura Giken fans on TSG. The CB-1007 with a custom Y-Grind. So what is a Y-Grind? It's a “Special Grind” by Yos**taka Miura. To me it looks more boxy with a higher toe vs the standard model. The differences are subtle but this one has it's rarity, had to wait several months for this set. Usually you see Y-Grind Miura wedges but the irons are not as easily found. I think they look awesome. Obviously like most Miura irons the setup is geared toward the player. I have this lone set for sale brand new. Its a small up charge over the standard 1007. PM me if interested, it's the only set we have. -
Coming Sept. 9th the Diamana W Series!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It's generic but gives us an idea.. Diamana introduces the new W series shaft for the 2013 season. It follows the ever popular Kai’li, ilima and ahina models as well as the most recent B series model. It is part of the 3rd generation model of shafts by Diamana. It is the predecessor of the Diamana D series and Ahina White Board model and is made for the athlete golfer. It features application of a new Dialead carbon material which was originally made for satellites to be deployed into space. The new Dialead carbon is a very strong and light weight material which is very good for producing efficient energy transfer and preventing deformation and twisting, even at high swing speeds. The Dialead material is applied to the shaft with the 3D MDI (Multi Dimensional Interlay)Technology. The 3D MDI is a strategically angled and rolled carbon sheet pattern made to produce the most efficiency. The multi layer sheets makes the shaft very strong against deformation. The Dialead material is layered in a 90* cross pattern between the normal carbon sheets to produce enhanced consistency and feel. -
Toru Taniguchi and Hiroyuki Fujita iron and driver
TourSpecGolfer replied to hiro's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes Fujita usually plays the Yammy proto's early. -
I haven't seen these in person but based on these pictures the Yururi looks like it has a very thin top line. This finish has been used on past wedges its an interesting look, more hand done feel I would say. These are based on a completely different heads than the Raw's so I'm sure the characteristics are different as well.

Having Tatsuro translate it...

Miyoshi-san designer & owner of Yururi golf always has interesting ideas and concepts, he noticed that one of the major differences between good vs great grinders is their skill of what Yururi is calling he "Pocket Dance" The pocket dance is the grinding done around all areas the neck begins to meet the face. Kinda fun, he is right that it's a very important part of grinding. I just find it fun that he gave it a name and video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOfptHdYjhU

Guys these are 799.00 4-PW S200 in the proshop... that's a killer price for these Endo forged beauties.

I love graphite design too! and even those are considered pricey by most. In my brain I think that Tiger and the top pro's play stuff specially made for them, I hope it's at least hand rolled made to order and perfectly round for them. how similar to retail it is I don't know this is just my assumption. I also think that If Crazy & Quadra had put the same effort into the U.S PGA tour that Graphite Design has for so many years chances are many top pro's would enjoy them as well. If there is no tour van or company loading these players with shafts or providing bonuses or pay for play and building great relationships over decades the shaft will probably not be vin the bags of many. Both Crazy & Quadra hand roll shafts all the time and have their own factories and use Japanese 50 & 80T. The use of better carbon is magnified the better the player. It's small gains at that level but important still.

TourSpecGolfer replied to Miuramaniac's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I just sent you a pm, It sucks to hear that.. I've hit this finish 2-3 times over the last 5 or so years and don't believe thats whats making them feel dead, it's gotta be something else. grind, loft, spec's. It's double nickel satin a finish that I've only known everyone to love.
