I agree, get rid of her if you cant roll it. It takes a very skilled person to modify these putters, not even putter plating could remove the insert, tungsten, or aluinser without damaging it.

The Type J is my all time favorite iron, its a blade cavity back style with all the good feel, the shape and setup is also another amazing thing about the J's but I must say the R7 forged has an awesome shape and great looks as well. So I would boil it down to how far from a blade you are willing to go. The J is very blade like but the R7 forged is almost a mid size players cavity back, as for comparing forgiveness of the two against each other the difference is very minimal, Your already used to blades so you must have great ball striking and would do fine with either. My two factors would be the J's feel better and setup smaller.

Nippon Shafts vs. True Temper Tour Concept
TourSpecGolfer replied to mauiatheart's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It really depends on the type of swing you have, Strikers with an aggressive tempo and transition usually do better with S300, S400, X100, Black Gold, Tour Concepts while the aggressive tempo with smooth transition would do best IMO with S200 S300 SL and NS1150. Slower swingers will really enjoy NS850 and NS950 and 1050. -
The JPX Forged is more forgiving and especially in the longer irons but keep in mind that comes with more offset and an overall larger presence to them. The heel to toe size is longer and I personally really like the face shape of the JPX, that said for me it would come down to what fits my eye best and they are both on the large side to me but the 57 has a better setup imo.

Mizuno MP-57 w/PICS! ** mini review **
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I have not measured the loft yet but these are one of the best feeling most forgiving irons I have played in a while, These puppies would make an amazing custom combo set one day. It seems to me they have a nice curved sole with a rounded leading edge, It isn't really a pure forged blade feel but it does have some hints of MP60 pure in it at all times. My trajectory was pretty stable with my slightly stronger lofts to aid in keeping the ball low in very windy conditions. Compared to the JPX it was simply different where both are simply marvelous in their own special way I Gotta give props to my Black Golds silky smooth feel & finish, Its heavier weight and consistent frequencies keep the 5-PW pretty tight for for the aggressive 7 iron punch shot from 3 to 9 move from about 150yds. Having a couple range day's with the new MP-57's has got me thinking of it more as a compliment to the arsenal or than an every day gamer as Its only natural to desire very little offset and a thin top line of the MP-67 or Type J's. Im dreaming of a Mizuno custom combo set with MP-57/60/67 irons with matching custom top line and sole grind's with a brushed satin finish and some BG's -
Played my 1st round with the MP-57s shafted with Black Golds Yesterday and I must say I'm pretty impressed, Mizuno has created a more forgiving players cavity back that isn't bulky and doesn't appear too large. Much to my surprise there really isn't much offset on these and the top line looks around 6mm thick which does give a good amount of confidence at setup. The feel was almost as nice as the MP60's and for sure better than the MP-27. This set was much needed in Mizuno's line up, it bridges the gap between the MP60 and MX25 nicely.

I would say the Gold's feel a tad softer but the Yururi's look better, setup better, and IMO play better.

I have spoken with a bunch of people about it, and they are all talking about SST puring lower end shafts. SST claims a certain amount of tour players use SST pured shafts, when in reality, those players have HAD their shafts SST pured but it doesn't mean they currently have their gamer shafts pured. Most tour vans don't pure them when they build the players club. Shops will support the system because they make easy money off of providing this service. Several months ago we tried doing a couple of Oziks and an Axiv then putting the before and after results on the launch monitor, the dispersion did tighten but not by anything humanly noticeable.

tipping it 5mm may do the trick also. Its worth a try IMO.

favorite scotty cameron como come headcover
TourSpecGolfer replied to Stanford's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes we are waiting to see which one the owner selects. He has not told me yet. In regards to the covers, scotty uses AM&E, the quality and stitch count is nothing compared to comocome's cover. -
They look like Custom Mizunos to me.

great looking grip but if you dont like sticky grips i wouldn't suggest them. Do not drop them in the sand!

Tourspecgolfers New Gamers w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I have problems hitting the ball higher and the black golds seems to really help me out, I also tried the Tour Concept and noticed it was slightly higher where as the BG's have the ideal 7-PW flight that is very accurate. Type J is a players compact CB while the R7 forged is a mid size forged cavity, The J at impact feels much better but of course the R7 Forged is more forgiving. I also suggest the J because custom specs can be ordered where as TM Japan is not willing to adjust the R7 Forged. -
YuRuRi TOUR Seida Wedges w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
We had a wedge shootout featuring all the best import wedges last week, The Yururi Tour was #1 for all 4 of our members who participated much to my surprise. The Epon Model X came in at a close #2 and the Fourteen V3 #3 and then the Crews. All of the players were single digit, one of them a +3 handicap teaching pro. We all agreed that the Yururi has the best feel and spin along with it being easy to use and excellent for the player with a steeper descending blow. If you can get used to the Football Jersey design its one of if not THE best wedge on the market right now. -

I usually switch irons quite a bit, but the Type J's have been in the bag longer than any since the MR-23. IMO this thing is like an ultra forgiving blade, EPON does call it a muscle back yet IMO technically it does have a cavity. The feel and setup is what makes me the most happy about these irons, Just last week we had a wedge shootout and iron shootout with some very solid players. The J won out big time over the Yururi Flat Back blade for 3 of the 4 guys who took part in it, this was nothing official just a half dozen 7 irons setup with the same swing weight, lie/loft yet different shafts. I really feel more people who are single digits to scratch or better should test these suckers out. Smaller, less offset, better feel, about the same forgiveness. About 105-107 ( driver ) and I find heavier stiff flex steel shafts work best for me. It carries a little further than an MP-67 with the exact same loft and setup. Remember that Epon's forgings are MR-23 soft not mushy like others. I think these are a different type of soft, the blades have a raw soft sorta feel to them if that makes any sense, but these have a copper soft sorta feel. Think MR-23 feel and it gives you a great idea. -

Yes Sir, Im a big fan of the stack and tilt move aka " The New Move " or " Tour Move " I am bias toward it as my instructor has been grilling me for months and its getting pretty close. I say Butch because he was Tigers trainer during his greatest years and the years that IMO he had his swing in true form. I also like butch because he is getting Phil to a place that is much more down the line without all that flipping crap that ledbetter teaches. Outside of that there is a guy who's name is Brett Smith who is supposed to be the authority on the new move, There are many old timers who know a lot about instruction but thanks to Golf Digest many years ago naming the top 30 it has pretty much left out guys who are not only better IMO than many of the worlds top teachers but they are incorporating some new age thoughts combined with fitness and throwing all the old/current confusing terms out the window. I really like when teachers take measurements of your arm length, your torso etc.. to come up with a dimension and depth that allows you to swing on the proper path, The old timers just dont do that, Many pro's on the PGA tour have amazing talent yet flawed swings, A couple great examples of great depth and dimensions are davis love and adam scott. The opposite would be someone like Darren Clarke. Its my opinion that validation and the skill to trouble shoot your own swing to a certain extent is VERY important to a serious golfer. Making a fierce impact with the ground creating compression with the ball is key, ever since i learned that aspect my wedges produce to much spin. Go down and attack that ball with an aggressive rotation is key and I like guys who teach this. I was lucky enough to get a reply from the great Brett Smith via E-mail that went like this: I really think most people that have been into the game for awhile are pretty much lost on the true mechanics- see most people are teaching characteristics... the superficial stuff like posture, plane- one plane, two plane, up and under, figure 8's.... all kinds of things out there. But when you really break down the golf swing into it's pefect truth, it's about consistently square, down- the- line pressure with predictable results.... and getting that to happen more is initially based on really getting good at understanding HOW to: 1. Measure your true arc and start trapping the ball in it. (establishing consistent radius of the lever orbiting in front of the torso by featuring connection and three dimesional depth) 2. Create repeating function of square (flat left-bent right) and pressure (compression) 3. Eliminate variables that hinder true function: flippiness vs the firm left, steep vs. shallow, rotational thrust vs the transitional void (fancy for "casting"). In regards to Jimmy Ballard, you gotta love him, low key not to flashy with some basics that no one can deny. The ultimate judgement is based on components that hold up under TOUR pressure and have produced champions- and he's got more guys with titles than Wal-Mart has scan codes. IMO when things are in order there is no need for open or closed face angles, or lower lofts to reduce spin. Of course adjustments are necessary with equipment but in many cases some of the intense customizations are simply band aids to swing flaws. Its like VJ, the guy needs to go all In and not pick and choose what gets him down the center. Amazing work ethic but there are things that are there that need not be and vice versa. On a side note if i were to suggest one book that holds more truth than any it would be Five Lessons by Ben Hogan. Thats my bible! -

If was able to select any swing teacher in the world it would be: 1. Butch Harmon 2. Brett Smith 3. Jimmy Ballard -
Tourspecgolfers New Gamers w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its not a RODDIO sir, its 100% designed by yours truly and made in Japan. We do have a couple members who have been testers of this shaft, some got along great with it, others not so great but its in the works and should be out middle of 2008. The prototypes were built for players with a 110mph+ swing speed in 68, 69, and 81 grams with several different technologies. I do have several more prototypes ready for testing but the golfer must have a high swing speed and be a participating member on our forum. Please PM me if interested, we are looking for low single digit players or better. Check out these results, just a sliver of the data we are collecting on various launch monitors. -

Not many import shafts when it comes to steel, Shimada and NSpro are indeed great shafts but something about this finish helps, also the tour concept is a similar finish that makes things feel softer at impact. Bogeydog encountered something similar when he hit my Type X's with Tour Concepts. It just feels softer, sorta like what graphite does to an iron. Whats weird is that the black golds i get from Japan say " Made in Japan ". -
The "TOUR" Seida has very little offset, a killed leading edge and new shape that best suites the good player with a steep swing. These wedges are forged by YuRuRi of 1012C double pressed. The prototypes of this wedge were way too soft so they decided to put a plated satin finish over it to even things out. This is the best feeling wedge i have EVER hit! All ground by hand in Japan by YuRuRi staff, never outsourced to a factory. YuRuRi is considering replacing the retails with this model but for now its special order only as they can only produce 50 each month. If interested please PM.
