shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearBusy busy busy....too much to do not enough time, definitely not enough cash and a golf game that is questionable at best...in fact I got to thinking as I was whacking the ball around the course a few too many time how unbelievably hard this game is...for instance...a lot of the guys who get full scholarships to play at 4 yr colleges have around a 2 handicap..after playing 250 rounds a year for 4 years they might get to scratch, an improvement of 2-4 shots a round...AFTER 1000 rounds and untold practice over FOUR freaking years...then they MIGHT be able to play and practice 300 days a year for a few more YEARS to get good enough to finish 70th on the PGA's money list, maybe....correct me if my train of thought is somehow mistaken...now given the above, how can I expect myself to get better with the paltry amount I get to play and practice :) :surprize: :wah: ..I have come to the conclusion that it's amazing I play so well most of the time..time to ease back on myself and just have fun.. enough deep thoughts...I've hurt my head.. the only Driver comments I have are WOW I love that club  ever since I put the 510 mid in play with that high end fuji I hit ball no more left...when I miss it's to the right which is a totally new experience for me...I still can't get over the fact that I hit it straight or with a nice 5 yd fade..me ..a fade...I'd have sooner believed a politician before I'd have believed that possible....now if my Scratch wedges get here before the snow flies life will be grand.. good luck in the days to come to all...may no camel spit in your path

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearHey Pete....thought you'd dropped off the end of the world...one of the few things I've learned is if you're not happy with what you're doing find something else...hope the photography is a success, my ex brother-in-law is very successful..did you finish your engineering degree? Al..am curious how the graphite will affect your hands..in theory should be more better..but in theory I should be able to speak proper English.. I'm dumping my internet provider on Monday, the DSL goes out every night at around 8PM and the tech guys insist its a wiring problem in my house...after 6 nights in a row of calling and getting the same answer I suggested that their attachment to my wallet was about to have a wiring issue also..so cable modem here I come...and I work for one of the phone companies subsidiaries...it's a shame when your own employees can't be loyal...but I have this insane desire to have stuff I'm paying for work all the time not just some of the time..silly me..with work being busy and the internet unavailable I've been missing this place...plus I've been playing as much as I can...this game is so much in the head it's crazy...or maybe my heads crazy and the game makes perfect sense..although I'm leaning more towards I'm just an old burnt out drug fiend lost orbiting a planet of my own creation...can you tell it's early? ah well..off to the salt mines.. :tired: :tired:

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearRrrriiigggghhhttttt...well Mike if you decide to chuck all I'll buy all your stuff at a serious dicount and then in three months you could buy it all back at the same price less a small storage fee... :surprize:  I understand your woes only to well...this has been as up and down a year as I can remember...but you never know when your brain will decide to turn itself off and the game will get good in a hurry...this is of course only my theory, I haven't done anything but struggle lately and Saturday played one of the finest shotmaking rounds I can remember...hit 12 fairways and every green but 2...all because I was able to NOT think about what the hell I was doing.. :-D I'd be playing today but for all the lightening arriving shortly...holding a metal club around that stuff truely terrifies me.. AKfly...I quit smoking and gained about 25 lbs...inside of a year it all went away..at the time it bothered hell out of me but I figured carrying the extra weight was better than smoking my 4 packs a day...after 18yrs turns out I was right...my lungs no longer attempt to expel themselves from my chest every morning when I wake up...I do not miss that cough..

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearWelcome back Mike! You sure you're not from Wisconsin..people here ALWAYS say they're "going up nort ya hey der"..which is a very enigmatic place to me... :surprize:  ...you should see the freeway heading north on Fridays and south on Sundays....Not a place for the timid I assure you....for some reason folks from Illinois :-) have an aversion to allowing more than a carlength of space between vehicles, some kind of primal urge takes over DEMANDING that they fill that gap regardless of any and all consequences...Muhammid Ali didn't bob and weave more than some of these characters..ergo the Wisconsinite mokiner applied to any and all with land of Lincoln plates..FIB's...or F'ing Illinois Bastards..  this of course does not apply to myself as I love my southern neighbors.. :o I know Al hasn't had time to post much as he's been flattening his ass on a car seat for way too many miles..my cheeks fall asleep just thinking bout all those miles... ah well..ya'all enjoy the day and smack some golf balls around

Warming up B4 a round
Lot of young guys answered this I see...if I tried to go out and just rip it I'd rupture something important; probably multiple ruptures, various tears, numerous parting of tissue from bone...I agree with DAA, swing a couple of irons, gently at first, then I stretch my shoulders doing windmills, touch my knees, then shins then toes then the ground...then if I can return to the verticle position I do it all again...takes a few minutes but what the hell, golf is only supposed to hurt the psyche.

Best Workout or Stretch to Improve Golf Game?
any exercise is good exercise, I like to do simple core stuff during the season, crunches; side bends; and just light lifting to hit the major muscle groups. I've found that the stronger my midsection, both abs and lower back, and obliques are the quicker I turn thru the ball and the farther it goes...just mho

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearchainsaw..ya just gotta sink more approach shots...or leave longer putts.. ...putting is such a head game with me...am so much better off when I don't think about them..if only I could find the off switch.. I ordered my wedges May 1 and am just about ready to chew wallboard at this point in time..my short game needs assistance and I'm hoping those 2 items will supply it..I feel like that vulture in the old cartoon..patience hell I think I'm gonna kill something...I don't do waiting very well...perhaps I've died and this is a taste of hell....nah hell was living with my first wife what am I thinking. Played the other day and not once but twice someone hit my ball...teach me to miss in another fairway...but there is very little that ticks me off more than that..I only mark them with a black line all the way around AND 3 purple dots around the brand name so I can see how easy it would be to confuse mine with yours :-) rant over...

Callaway selling tour clubs
Callaway pre-owned is now selling clubs "direct from the tour van", calling it "Pro Tour Spec". The prices actually don't appear to be inflated and I'd have to believe that the merchandise is the real deal. Very very interesting move business wise. I can see this causing consternation in some circles  check it out http://www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/pro-sp...?GCID=C1504x190

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI hear you. I played in a friendly tourney for a bachelor party this weekend. On the first 5 holes on the back nine. I had birdie putts of 10 feet, 12 feet, 6 feet, 4 feet and 20 feet. I only made 1!!! I feel your pain...made one of 4 inside 8ft yesterday...sigh...got my TM reshafted and what a bomber...I hit 2 drives over 280 which for an over 50 mutt such as myself is every bit as exciting as the beer cart girl flirting back... :surprize: I love that thing...now if I can get the wedges from Ari life will be grand as tourney season rapidly approaches... Hey Al, did your wedge show up yet? 2500 miles in 10 days would leave me hiding from the undertaker ( I hate when that guy smiles at me..makes me think he knows something I don't)...I would have such a case of fanny fatigue I wouldn't feel my ass for a week... :-D
