SATINIZED Epon Personal blades
Well said...I was never one of these guys who obsessed about iron distance. Who cares if the number on the bottom of your club says 9 or 8 or whatever, it's all about accuracy when it comes to iron play. I have buddies that get all worked up because their old set was 135 and new irons only 125...can you say "stronger lofts"?? Pure marketing genius by the guy who originally changed all iron lofts to stronger throughout the set. Guys who couldn't hit a pitch further than 110-115 now hitting that "same" pitch 125-130...instant sale!!

A few observations of JDM irons -- Lots of everything except EPON!
I think you're playing with the wrong chaps! Just kidding. I still think Epon is much more boutique than many other brands it there and hence the reason you're seeing less of them. Hey, come to the US...I feel as if I'm the only guy within 100 mile radius with Epons!

Sandy blows
swisstrader replied to RIduffer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearYup...here in NJ with no power since about 5 or so. Things seems to be settling down a bit but one of the craziest storms I've ever witnessed. Crews not going to fix for days is my guess. Painful

Moving to a JDM Bag - Driver is next....
You can't go wrong with any of those drivers...the real challenge will be making sure you've got the right shaft. Shaft choice is just as, if not more critical than head choice.

No love for Honma?
I think viewed as "your fathers JDM" these days. There's still a market for them, and there are still people who love em, but more of a poser's iron or driver and prices to match. Also best suited to slower swingers of the golf club. My club has quite a number of Korean members and a good number of them still using Honma, but most who do are over 60. Hey, these guys are quite possibly the original club ho's around JDM gear...just a generation ahead of the internet! Who knows, may be our sons and daughter look at our Epons and Ryomas 20 years from now and just crack up. Nah!!

Epon 502 vs Epon 302
Coop: Great writeup...love that copper patina look. I think I must have some nostalgic love of copper in that I started my golfing "career" with a set of Ping BeCu beryllium copper irons. Loved em...handed them down to my nephew who sadly never played much with them and I never had the heart to ask what happened to them. Would love to have them in my collection. Ping stopped making the copper irons either due to the toxicity of the beryllium compounds in dust and vapors which could cause serious lung damage or cost to produce.

Shaft input - Aerotech vs Monaco
I currently game 502's with a set of Aerotech i95 shafts and love em. I just picked up some new irons that are shafted with stiff Monacos at 122g. Am I crazy for even trying to play these things with weight of Aerotechs at 95 vs Monacos at 122?? Obviously I can give em a crack at the range and see how they go and worse case I can reshaft w a new set of Aerotechs, sell the Monacos or steal the shafts off the 502's, but would prefer to keep the 502/Aerotech combo in tact. Any thoughts on the above?

SATINIZED Epon Personal blades
Proud new owner! Just a bit nervous about shafts...I now game the Aerotech i95's in my 502's and love em. The Personals are shafted with Monacos in stiff and the weight of the shaft is 122, which sounds a bit heavy for my swing. Looking for some views on that and will also post in shaft section for input. I can obviously just switch Aerotechs from 502's to personals and sell 502's with Monaco, but would prefer to keep in tact. Any views on how the Monacos will play compared with the Aerotechs?

epon personals .., all grass conditions.
Divot on the right is a near perfect divot...slice of bacon with a slight left lean to it. I'm guessing a bit steep just due to what look like either somewhat wet conditions or very lush.

Are these real? AF-Tours and AF-502
Agree w Spoon...would have to be a very wise counterfeiter to do a combo set!

Monaco stiff flex 3-pw
Seems as if everyone loving the Monacos.

Epon 502 vs Epon 302
I love the LOOK of copper on irons, but have learned over the years that copper does not make the club any softer in terms of feel. Always thought it would but simply does not. Cool look but for me not much difference in playability.

Epon 502 vs Epon 302
I also felt like the 502's were the softest feeling irons out there...whether that's because of the technology with the gel or whatever, I don't care, just the fact that on impact it was the classic "marshmallow on a stick". These things are also stupid forgiving...I should be severly punished, whipped with a wet noodle and had my toenails pulled for the swing I put on them yesterday and it was almost like an old friend trying to prop me up and say "here, let me help you you feeble soul"! And somehow I managed to salvage a decent round.

Aerotech shafts?
I use the Aerotechs in my 502's and many years before that in a set of Mizuno MP 52's. Surprised more people have not discovered them sooner espec at this price point.

Epon 502 vs Epon 302
"502 is more satisfying, in audible and tactile terms, on those full-blooded solid-contact hits" That was the clincher for me in getting the 502's. Played today and as crappy as I played, my irons still saved me. Kept hitting it fat for some reason and even with that, net result was only 10 yards short and still straight as an arrow, so simply kept taking more club. Great review overall...nice to have 2 great options.

You should put all these experiments into a log or a blog. Would be interesting to see results of different combinations all compiled in one place.
